Excellent game, one of the best Frictional has ever done.

The elevator pitch for this game is basically Amnesia: DD + Resident Evil + Alien: Isolation with a sprinkling of Deus Ex. It's the dev dipping their toes into survival horror and I hope they go further in this direction and go full survival horror for their name game, like this one but bigger.

It's a game of cat and mouse where you aren't completely defenseless and can solve problems and situations in a number of ways. it's short but replayable. If that sounds appealing, pick this up because you'll love it.

Wish there was a neutral option here. Its a game trying to appease to a polarized fanbase with one side wanting campy action and the other wanting a scary survival horror experience. The result is a solid sorta short action game with the occasional scare and it mostly works, but it does suffer from feeling more shallow than its predecessor. It never hits the same highs as the other games but never quite the same lows either.

So what you ultimately get is a quality mid game thats accessible to everyone. If you came from RE2 remake or RE7 and expect puzzles that make you think, tense resource management, and consistent scares, I suggest playing SIGNALIS or Silent Hill instead. If you want something more like RE4 or the Flood Missions in Halo, this is for you.

It's like they combined Rome 2 and Shogun 2. SEGA let your developers cook, if you let them do this from the start you would have made so much more money

Relaxing terror

Have you ever been in love steam user? I have.

Natalie was the important one but there were others. The most recent one was Celia Patterson.

Now Celia was beautiful, perhaps the most gorgeous woman I had ever laid eyes on. She was a compelling storyteller and had a great taste in music. Her driving sucked but you ignored it, she had some red flags, ya know some bugs but it wasn't enough to keep you away from someone like Celia Patterson.

Then you realize the bugs were indicative of far greater flaws. The sex is alright and you shoot well enough but you know you've shot harder and that every encounter with her no matter the scenery is similar and this game you play becomes monotonous.

It wasn't all surface level though, not like her. She didn't care about what you wanted because she didn't care what you, she would force choices on you, make you do things you didn't want to do. She even took away your own name, she would only call you V. She would make you feel small and unseen because after the good stories she had to tell (that you didn't have much input on) all she had left was the same 3 kinds of activities over and over again MY GOD MAKE IT STOP. She didn't even have proper tire physics!

Your friends tell you that give her a year, she will get herself together but you have to explain as you cry that she at her core is fundamentally flawed. No amount of fixing surface level problems will ever change your core experience with this person because these are issues deeply rooted and can't just be taken back now and even if she fixes them ALL by some miracle, do you want to be with someone who has already hurt and disrespected you this much?

Then you think of Natalie, sweet Natalie Vargas, the love of your life, but you knew you had to move on eventually. Natalie respected your choices, she was flexible and accepted you no matter who you were. You knew that no matter what, you would have the right build to still be useful during your conversations. The sex wasn't that great and Natalie wasn't the greatest looker but if she dressed right she was enough with every other factor also considered.

"You know you shouldn't.", they all tell you to move on but you can't help yourself, you tell Celia Patterson 2077 that you have had enough, you didn't finish to the end but you did enough that you knew you could do better. You go to Natalie Vargas and you have a long talk about how at least for now you will try again, this is the 5th time and it might not be healthy but it feels right.

Go play New Vegas again.

CYBERPUNK SUCKS.
