I've been waiting for this to come to PC since it came out, I'm so glad I bought it. Amazing game so far, love it. Definitely worth the wait for me!

The good:
- Campaign was fun, open world is kinda neat
- Maps are pretty cool
- Sound design is fire as always
- Game is visually stunning
- Multiplayer seems pretty fun so far
- Lots of variety in weapons to pick from
- Manglers look really cool in MWZ
- Map voting
The bad:
- Packet loss.
- Zombies is just MW2 DMZ but with zombies. Fun, but so low effort on the developers part.
- ctrl+c ctrl+v zombies. In their defense (ish), Cold War was the best zombies alongside BO3 so I'd re-use assets from that too, tbh.
- Maps are too big for modes like TDM.
- Far less modes than what MW2 has, for.. some reason.
The ugly:
- Terrible campaign ending, and it's an extremely short one at that.
- $70 for a 6 hour campaign (played on Veteran), almost the same MP as MW2 except a bit faster, and then just a reskin of DMZ for zombies. It's a $70 DLC.
- No way to play truly solo for Zombies. You are forced to play with others.
- No round based zombies. why not :(

Buy it if you have disposable income and like COD. Avoid it otherwise. Can't wait to spend another $100 next year for the same product. I can't escape the cycle, and Activision knows.

Looks really solid, but the performance is absolutely abysmal. Turn off global illumination, DOF, and motion blur if you want more than 20 fps.

For context, I'm not running on a bad computer by any means. I'm playing the game on an i7-12700K, RTX 3080 w/ 12gb of VRAM, and 32gb of DDR4 RAM at 3440x1440 resolution.

With default settings, I got 15 FPS in the main menu, and 20 ingame. With GI, DOF, and motion blur turned off? I get about 50-60 in a fairly empty city. This is absolutely unacceptable. Infact, my entire computer had a stroke mere minutes before writing this review because the game decided to for some ungodly reason consume my entire CPU & GPU to produce a whopping 40 fps. I then lost about 10 minutes of progress because I didn't save, autosaves are nice though. They're off by default for some reason, though.

also no dlss or fsr 2.0? there's fsr 1.0 though, which is mediocre.

I really want to like this game, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ did nobody try and playtest this game at high settings? I also find it really funny that people will try and go "uhh you only need 60 fps its a city builder not a comp game". I may only need 60 fps, but I expect the game to run better than that. Paradox & Colossal Order isn't gonna give you a pat on the back for excusing their godawful optimization.

update: lmao my computer crashed when i closed the game ?????

Overall? 5.5/10. 6.5 with mods so far. Bethesda, please give us the Creation Kit sooner rather than later, thanks.

Pros:
- Lots of planets!
- Tons of quests (I think. I got a new quest every time I went somewhere, and I haven't done it all yet.)
- Neat ship customization
- Bootleg settlements
- Fun powers
- Solid main quest
- Neat factions
- Enjoyable gameplay
- Stuff to collect.
- New Game Plus!
- Pretty solid soundtrack.
- days since last incident counter on mars resets if you commit assault. very entertaining.
- The city of Neon is beautiful.
- Visually pleasing- once you swap out the default LUTs the game throws at you. Game devs, stop putting tints over stuff. Bethesda is notorious for this.
- Characters actually look decent.

Cons:
- Exploration. Yeah, it's fine but oh my God it's the same thing over and over again.
- Fetch quests. The main quest is just one big fetch quest.
- Loading screens. Taking off? Loading screen. Landing? Loading screen. Entering your ship? Loading screen. Entering a store? Loading screen.
- Space combat sucks. I may just be bad, but I hate it with a passion.
- Outpost building is awful, and somehow feels more restrictive than Fallout 76s building, which is weird.
- Inventory management plays a bigger role in this game than the quests do- if you're like me and like collecting stuff. awful for the rats among us....
- Inventory UI is absolutely terrible. Go install StarUI, folks.
- Ship upgrading makes no sense sometimes. Everything also goes back to your storage so uh- dont place things down unless you're never going to swap your ship around.
- NG+ is weird. You don't get to keep your items, but you keep your level, perks, and powers. I don't like how NG+ is done in this game, but it kinda makes sense.
- Terrible performance out of the box. Before you go ''uhh just get better hardware'', I play on an RTX 3080 & an i7-12700K with 32gb of DDR4 RAM @ 3600mhz. I should not be getting 40-50 fps. Apparently the latest driver update helps with this, haven't checked yet.
- Combat music is super repetitive.
- No DLSS. Modders fixed that on day one, though. AMD exclusive and all that, yeah yeah.
- Might be a skill issue, but if you want to visit specific landmarks on Earth, you have to read specific books. You can't just land where they are and see them. :(
- discord light mode on terminals & everything else. do not play this game in a dark room.
- Controls are sluggish, picking up items has a 1s delay I believe, menu confirmations take a second, etc. It's strange.
- The flashlight sucks. They really used the worst texture possible for it imo.
- Bullet sponge enemies.
- Some really odd decisions that you wouldn't expect in 2023, such as;
- Menus are at 30 fps.
- No FOV slider
- No HDR support
- No playstation controller prompts. Makes sense, since this is an Xbox exclusive, but it'd ber nice.
- No manual framerate cap without doing it via the INI.
- No fullscreen? Borderless windowed is superior anyway, but the lack of choice is weird.

Overall, yeah the game's weird and has a lotta cons (albeit subjective of course), but the game is really fun. My list of cons is quite large, but I still genuinely like the game and would suggest it to others.

My one tip? Lower your expectations.

Overwatch 2 is a great game. It's extremely fun, and I'd suggest it to anyone who's looking for a competitive team-based game...

But- the monetization is predatory, things we're told will be added to the game aren't actually added, the servers are a joke at times, and that's just the surface of the rabbithole. The game itself is fantastic, but oh man it's a mess once you delve deeper into things. If you buy the battle pass, you get 1900 credits. That's fine- but they're not the premium credits, so you can only buy (mostly) legacy items. You want premium credits, you gotta fork up some cash. If you want to play F2P, you're basically ♥♥♥♥♥♥.

bring back loot boxes pls... cant believe im saying this.

Early Access Review
TLDR: Mediocre sound design, repetitive levels & very small level amounts. Game is also extremely easy once you get the truck or anything better. Extremely fun despite what I said previously.

I genuinely like the game, and I'm glad I bought it- but it's certainly lacking in features. I've played the game in both VR and non-VR modes, and VR is certainly more enjoyable- to an extent. VR has that janky movement that everyone knows and loves, and it created a few laughs.

However- it's repetitive, like.. really repetitive. There are five levels as far as I'm aware, a one story house, a two story house, a mechanics shop, a casino, and a mall. Yes, each level does have some randomization to it, but not enough to make it enjoyable after a few hours of playing.

The AI is also godawful, but this is something I actually enjoy, because human trafficking is a great feature of the game (yeah, you can bring them back as loot), but oh man it's terrible at times.

You can steal almost anything, and that's amazing, but most of it does nothing, and the things that do stuff will probably just end up scaring the ♥♥♥♥ out of you because you don't expect it. I picked up a drum set and nearly ♥♥♥♥ myself when it made a sound.

...which brings me to another point; The game is quiet, really quiet. I genuinely didn't know if my audio was working while I was in the lobby waiting for some friends, until I hit something with a hammer. There's no background music, footsteps are barely audible, but the cicadas serenading you at night aren't. Those bugs are singin', that's for sure.

And finally; the upgrades for getaway vehicles seem a bit odd to me. Why can the RV support normal cars in weight, but I can't fit said car into the RV? Am I supposed to put it on the roof??? I mean- I'll try that, but it's just confusing.

Overall? 7/10. I wish Steam had a "meh" option for reviews. Amazing concept, janky enough that it's super fun, but I just can't suggest it yet. I will say, though, keep an eye on this for future updates that will hopefully address the concerns I've outlined. If you do buy it, play with friends, or play it in VR- or even both.

also no index finger tracking, pls add, i need to give the bird to my friends
