One of the best games I've played. Wish I could say more, but this game begs you to go in blind. If you get it, do your best not to give in and look things up, or you'll lose out on the wonder of this masterpiece.

It's more From Software gameplay. Like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ more. Like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, how did they fit this much ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ content into a single video game without having to wait for some games as service ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Even if you didn't like their previous entries, I still think it's worth it.

Player vs Spreadsheet action with RP behind it all. Custodian team pushed this game from good to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ brilliant. Pick a sci-fi trope and live it out, or just be like everyone else and LARP your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Warhammer 40k wet dream. It's a good game, just go for it.

It's really heckin' good. I did a review for the first game, and this game basically improves on it in every way except for the fact that you can't control Jahan. Otherwise, people who say that le Witcherino tres is the best RPG of all time are dumb. This is. Easily.

If you are AT ALL a fan of any form of action RPG, be it Dark Souls, Witcher 3, or what have you, do yourself a favor and buy this game. It has bar none the most enjoyable combat system of any action RPG I have ever played. It may not have the punishing difficulty of Dark Souls 3, the beautiful world of Witcher 3, or the charm of a game like Kingdom Hearts, but it more than makes up for it with the best implementation of a third person combat system I have seen in a long while.

Essentially, there are 9 classes, or vocations as they are called in the game, to choose from. While you only start with the option to use the "basic" three, you unlock the rest a bit later in the game. All the classes, including the so called "basic" vocations, invoke a differing playstyle that remains viable from level 1 to the game's max of 200. In addition, you can freely swap between these vocations by simply visiting the skill trainer at the main city's inn. In fact, the game encourages you to try different classes, as you can unlock slottable passives that can be carried over from class to class.

Now, each class has a unique playstyle. Classes like the Fighter offer a more traditional sword and shield fighting style, where you can time blocks as the massive monster swings its flail at you to block and stagger your foe. Your archetypical mage offers curative and control spells, while the sorcerer holds sway over destructive fields of classic RPG tropes such as meteor showers and seismic earthquakes. The Ranger specializes in sniping enemies from afar, while the Warrior runs in with a massive 2 handed weapon, able to perform techniques akin to Limit Breaks as well as having a very satisfying jumping attack. The Strider is my personal favorite, carrying a pair of daggers and a shortbow, but finds itself most at home climbing up the sides of a dragon, jabbing it's daggers along the way in a move akin to Shadows of the Colossus. And that's not even mentioning the hybrid vocations, with the Magick Archer's homing missiles, the Magick Knight's ability to set up essentially nuclear magic cannons, and the Assassin's complete mastery over all physical weaponry.

Finally, I have to mention the pawn system. While exploring the world, you are granted a customizable companion called a Pawn. The main pawn, as it is called, can take all vocations except the hybrid classes. But the truly fascinating part of the pawn is it's learning mechanism. Similar to Amiibos from Nintendo's Smash 4, the pawn will learn from your playstyle and begin to imitate how you fight. If you prefer looting mid combat, your pawn will do so likewise. If you oft find yourself climbing the backs of your colossal enemies, you'll typically find your pawn clambering alongside you. I oftentimes jump around like a headless chicken in combat, and it's weird seeing my pawn jumping around like a moron with me. Up to 2 other pawns can be hired aside from your main pawn. These other pawns are the main pawns of other Dragon's Dogma players, so a strong community sprung up around grooming the best pawns for others to try out in their own games.

There's still so much more I can talk about like the end game dungeons and the sick fashion you can pull off, but I think I've sung this game's praises enough. Just remember... Wolves hunt in packs Arisen. Oh, and they also ill like fire. Happy hunting!

Fantastic game to play coop with a friend, any fan of turn based RPG goodness in the vein of Fallout 1 or Fallout 2 should pick this game up. Only downside is a bit of a trite story, but the cooperative nature and extremely fleshed out combat system makes up for it. Can't wait for the second one to come out of Early Access!
