a great remaster of a great game. a lot of the additional content that they've taken from ROR2 is good (like Shrines of the mountain) while still remaining balanced for the ROR game play.

no notes, well worth the price

I'm yet to finish act 1 yet, but this game has captured me. I got it around Christmas in 2022 as a gift from a friend but agreed to not play it until it came out, and I'm absolutely glad that I waited. Larian studios has created one of the greatest, easy to understand and engaging RPGs ever. Having completed their previous release (Divinity Original Sins 2, as well as their first and second releases many years ago with my older brother), I'm familiar with their work, and this is a vast step up from the previous stuff they've created. While the heavy Dungeons and Dragons inclusion in the work may appear confronting, It rarely comes at the cost of your own enjoyment.

All the fanfare about this game is deserved, and even then I don't think it truly does it justice for how remarkable it is.

I've only played this game for about 5 hours (as of writing this review) and I can firmly say that it is one of the most authentic and genuine RPG games that I've played in a long time. So far the game hasn't been too difficult but I've found myself time and time again earnestly caring about Sam and John (the main characters) moreso than anyone else in games that I've recently played. The music is fitting, the sound effects are quaint and nice, and the little animations that characters do are so well crafted and fitting for their characters that you'll see just what it adds to the game.

It's cute, endearing and truly a heartwarming game. There's a lot of lovely things included in the game, a fun little side game, what is turning out to be a heartwarming story (don't read spoilers, some of the reviews mention crying and I hope that happens to me too).

I can't really put my finger to it but this is probably one of the best games I've played this year (up there with Dredge and Fear and Hunger 2: Termina, a uniquely fascinating delve into RPGs) which truly puts the player into the universe that it's apart of.

If you're a fan of quirky, cute indie RPGs, buy this, at this point I'd say full price is absolutely worth it, because it's got so much heart that it wears on its sleeve that you'll love it by the end of the game.

As someone who'd only played the original Resident Evil 4 a year or so ago, and then picking up the re2 & re3 remakes at Christmas in 2021, I was extremely keen and excited for this game to come out. It mixed everything I love in media, cheesy, corny and camp voice acting (Leon's voicelines being especially well performed) a fascinating if absurd story, and well crafted horror and action sequences that are the primary focus of the game into a loving and well crafted re-imagining of a genre and era defining game.To say this is an amazing remake would be underselling it, it adds a lot of polish and freshness to the original game, with some new elements and sequences that are genuinely great and interesting to see. I've got a pretty old device (the newest part in my desktop is a like 1080ti lol) and this game runs incredibly well on medium-high settings, the REengine has once again outdone itself. This is something I'd highly recommend buying at full-price. For a game to come out on release and not have any bugs (that I've experienced at least) is something special, and I genuinely think that this will be remembered as the best way to experience Resident Evil 4. Playing the demo through for the first time had my jaw on my desk. It was visually stunning and felt and played remarkably well, even if that lasted 20 minutes. I was counting down the days, and then hours until this game came out. With this in mind, I do recommend picking up the original and play it in some capacity, it'll probably be more difficult to play after completing the remake but it cannot be understated that it holds up incredibly well. I'm only 6 hours into the game, and I cannot wait for that number to hit 60 hours. Do yourself a favour, pick this game up, you absolutely won't regret it

Underneath a heavy layer of soul & traditional horror set-pieces/ gothic beginnings lies a fundamentally unique jrpg which has no real comparison beyond say LISA: the painful and it's subsequent releases of DLC & fan games.

I recall buying this around the time that it came out and having a few tries before leaving it firmly in the "not touching again" pile because I was frankly too bad to actually learn stuff about the game, but upon seeing the release of it's sequel (which I will absolutely play) and seeing this video by Zuldim & this video by Worm Girl really opened my eyes up to the depth that this game has. I've only achieved one of the endings (specifically E, which ironically is what I'd personally do in that situation) but just getting that felt amazing to me.

I think, while this game does deserve it's content warnings because it does not go easy on the more brutal elements of "humanity" I can't recommend this enough for people who're interested in a truly unique horror/jrpg experience. Try not to spoil yourself when you start, while the world is deeply interesting and unique, taking the time to explore and learn what you can will lead to success.

Please give this game a go, and while you should be aware of the content and stuff within it (includes sexual assault), I promise you that it absolutely is worth it.

I can't recommend buying this game for full price at the current time. A lot of the issues are the same issues that Vermintide had on launch, such as lack of content, performance issues and the like. As with fatshart updates will come and the game will be fixed but it'll be better to wait to play it more.

With that in mind, what is in the game right now is mostly fun and enjoyable, when you get different levels they're very different and honestly look pretty amazing.

With more polishing this game would be pretty good, but right now it's just not worthwhile to pay full price ($60 AUD for example)

Made by Marxists, this is one of the single best role playing video games ever made. It tells the story of an alcoholic cop who's been tasked with solving the murder of a mercenary in the fictional city of Revachol, which is in the midst of a union strike.

Fair warning about the game itself, you, as the player, will be doing an incredible amount of reading, (the directors cut itself has lots of voice acting added which is incredible and adds so much to the experience), but if you follow every strand, every story and every piece of the puzzle there is an incredibly well rounded story about a man's own progression. Dealing with memory loss and alcoholism as well as learning more about a seemingly alien world is the most important part of Harrier's journey to becoming a truly greater person.

The first time playing through it is indeed the trickiest, however on subsequent play-throughs that your experience will invariably be much better, as you learn how the game is meant to be played.

This is hands down one of my favourite games ever made, and it's leagues ahead of it's competition

Early Access Review
Ultrakill is a game that looks and feels like a first person shooter should. It's simple, easy to learn but hard to master, with weapons that feel extremely good to use and a difficulty curve which doesn't jump around the place, ie: difficult in one spot in a level, easy in another. Consistency is key, and Ultrakill is just that, consistent.

For a game that is in Early Access it's simply one of the most fluid and complete feeling games that is nowhere near completion. Through my playtime I've encountered 0 bugs that disrupt game play or ruin my gameplay, and 0 broken areas, textures or enemies. It's better than 1/2 the stuff companies like ubisoft and bethesda put out in their triple A titles.

The game is also accessible to both casual players and people looking for a difficult and thrilling ride, as Harmless is just for people wanting a stress free experience (as per the game) and violent (hardest difficulty available (afaik), which is something i personally feel is missing in a lot of modern games, the perceived requirement of only having a singular, hard difficulty.

the soundtrack, made by the developer (HeavenPierceHer aka Hakita) is a mix of metal, dnb and breakcore, and in my opinion is one of few video game soundtracks worth listening to. it's really good and adds hugely to the tone and mood of the game

Lastly, The Cyber Grind is probably one of the only "endless" game modes I've personally played in a video game that has consistently kept me hooked and interested in getting better. the soundtrack for that kicks ass too.

Ultrakill is probably one of the best singleplayer FPS games to come out in a fairly long time, and it isn't even out yet. Buy it now

EDIT 17/03/2023: there is now a fishing mechanic

It's all about the sigma grind set.

if you're a believer in good graphics = good games, Cruelty Squad isn't for you, as you can tell it beautiful mess of textures and visuals which serve to make the gameplay experience more authentic to it's original cyberpunk/biopunk origins, but after a while you'll understand that how it looks isn't important when the actual game play itself is so perfectly executed. Being a mix of Hitman, Deus ex & Rainbow 6 (classic) titles, it's an odd combination to see in an FPS game, but it works to perfection.

You're given levels of varying difficulty with simple tasks, such as relaxing, or killing rival company executives, with hidden secrets within all these levels such as money, bodymods, and weapons to help change and further make the experiences in game different from the last. Your experience ingame will differ from others depending on what difficulty you approach it at, starting at the "DIVINE LIGHT/DIVINE LINK" difficulty you'll find doors that are both accessible and inaccessible to you, but upon dying you will be sent down to a lower difficulty, and further if you keep on dying on the same level.

Upon completing missions you're given money, which you can spend on bodymods or the stock/organ market to earn more money and eventually buy a house.

and there is, as any good game has, fishing, with an incredibly wide variety of fish to catch, you're able to sell them for money, some earning you more than finishing missions.

if you're quirky or love weird retro FPS games, along with most of the releases by New Blood, you'll love the ♥♥♥♥ out of this game, and become deeply invested in it's bizarre anticapitalist message

This is an incredible game, please buy it.
