Last Epoch is the perfect balance between the ease of D4 and the complexity of PoE. The short review is that, if you are planning on playing solo, this is one of the best Diablo style ARPGs on the market.

Here are the highs, mids, and lows as a SOLO PLAYER:
HIGHS
1. There is off line play so you are not dependent on or vulnerable to the problems with on-line play.
2, The 5 main classes segment into 3 sub-classes that play very differently, so there are 15 real classes to play
3. There are a ton of different passive skill trees for you to use to customize your character: There is a main class passive tree, a sub-class passive tree and A PASSIVE TREE FOR EACH AND EVERY SKILL IN THE GAME. These trees are clean, small to mid sized and very easy to grasp. In addition, the skill trees especially are VERY impactfull. They don't just give you more damage to this or defense from that. They typically have MANY different ways to change HOW the ability works in dramatic ways. This is one of the best aspects of the game.
4. Crafting - the crafting system is easy to learn and has subtleties of use that make it surprisingly deep. You can make random and deterministic changes to gear all the way from very early in the game. In addition, there is an end game crafting system that allows you to take your unique items and imbue them with attributes of other items by combining them. This system is EXCELLENT
5. Idols - there is an additional item system that goes into a different place on your character sheet that adds additional passive benefits. Its good for rounding out resistances and is yet another way to get game changing modifications to you build. The only downside to this system is how limited the space for these items is and the fact that they have different shapes so there is a tetris element to it that I find annoying.
6. Trade vs. Bonus loot - the game has an interesting and excellent way to give people the ability to choose to trade items or forgo trading in favor of more and more deterministic loot drops. This system is brilliant, innovative and well implemented, but it will require tweaking as the balance of benefits I think skews to the bonus loot side of things a bit too much (I am not a trade in games guy, so I may be wrong).

MIDS
1. Graphics - the scenery, mobs and skill effects in the game look really good. However the character models and pets are a bit weaker. I also find the purchasable cosmetics to be very iffy looking but the items graphics of the in game drops are actually very good. Strange.
2. End game - the end game systems are really interesting and fun when you first engage with them, but they are a bit too static once you have been doing it a long time. Considering this is a new game however, there is a massive amount to do and I expect that over time this issue will be completely resolved.
3. Purchased cosmetics are inaccessible off line. I understand why this would be, but it's still disappointing.

LOWS
1. On-line play - this right now is the true problem with the game. They are having problem with on line play that range from login issues to long loading times between zones. I have also experience a truly terrible amount of rubber banding. Normally I would just chalk this up to launch day sever issues, but I think the problem runs much deeper than that. Even in early access I preferred to play off-line as I found the play on-line to be unstable.
2. Accessibility - the accessibility features for the game are, as of now, VERY limited. HUD modification is minimal, there is no subtitling system and many other features that a larger studio would have. I suspect that some will come with time.
