Early Access Review
Sons Of The Forest (SOTF) is very similar to The Forest with updated graphics and features such as the new building system, NPCs, weather/system system, new weapons and a map/GPS. I have played around 30 hours and I have been enjoying the game. The graphics and lighting gives me a great sense of immersion. Although the graphics are amazing SOTF is not very well optimized, I play on ultra 1440p with a 2080 super and I get around 50-70 fps (55 avg) when I host, I would say that is playable but its lower than expected compared to games with similar graphics. Important features from The Forest were changed for no apparent reason such as the removed log sled, useless walls as enemies can climb right over, no gate for walls. The building system is a great change as it gives you more freedom but is still missing a lot of features that you need for building. Story is way too short, huge but mostly empty map and the games is riddled with bugs. The Ai system that was heavily talked about needs a lot more work, Kelvin can't even walk around my base properly and enemies stand in place doing nothing but growling. I'd recommend playing this game with friends as the building and exploring is very fun but if you are playing alone the game feels kind of empty. Of course the game is in early access just like when The Forest when it first came out and I remembered each update feeling like Christmas, hopefully this game is the same.

Great game. If you played dark souls 3 then this game is very similar with tons of new features such as the open world and small things like sneaking and jumping. The bosses are definitely harder than the bosses in dark souls 3 but who doesn't like a challenge? My computer specs are quite good so I did not run into any of the problems with fps like what other people have reviewed. But I mean recommended settings are basically minimum settings at this point. Overall great game good story and graphics.

I would highly recommend this game to play with friends, although the game is difficult playing with friends becomes much easier and fun. The story is also quite amazing many things are much more than they seem at first. Although there are small issues like 60 fps cap (game looks laggy on my high refresh rate monitor) and some areas are slightly bugged with online pvp/co-op theses are not big issues.
