Yıldırım Gürses was born on 21 January 1938 in Bursa. Her father is Nasuhi Bey, an employee of the Ziraat Bank, and her mother is a maid of honor. The name of his abdomen is Jahide. Her father was an ud player and sister. This was Yildirim's first music education. In the meantime, he was learning to sing, to learn method and style, and to play a little bit of law.

In 1959, Turkey entered the Ankara State Opera and was the first trial. After working in Opera for 7-8 months, he left and continued to work here again, winning the TRT test again. He started composing during his radio work.

His song, "I drink always sadness" is the first song. Then he composed his song "Farewell to Youth", which enabled him to announce his voice to widespread masses. In 1964 he left radios and started working on casinos and then he moved to Istanbul.

In 1965, he won the first gold prize of Hürriyet Newspaper. After this success in Golden Microphone, Yıldırım Gürses accelerated his studies. The artist has become one of the most important names in popular music. "Successful Letter", "Love in the Mazda", "A Broken Heart", "A Strange Passenger", "Autumn Winds". At the beginning of the '80s, he made a new move with "Never forgive You" with Ajda Pekkan. It was the singing songs of "Dertliyim Arkadaş" and "Eller Eller" and "Gül Dudak", both of which appeared on the same album.

In 1962 he married Ayla Gürses, a TRT sound artist like himself. He has a son named Yıldırım Beyazıt (d.1971).

Yıldırım Gürses died at the age of 62 on 18 November 2000 as a result of a heart attack.
