1. Get Fox (NW) at 60 food
2. Get Wolf (NE) at 60 food
3. Move to Fox, place balloon at 120 food
4. Move west then south to Hopper, clear pigs while Wolf joins
5. Exit to own base by cliff wall, keep both alive
6. Build 2 Fox warrens, possibly balloon
7. Send Wolf+Fox to Hopper, Wolf tanks mines. Clear pigs and protect Hopper's gristmill !!
8. When new foxes are ready, start carefully harassing both remaining armies - hit and run with wolf+3 foxes. (also build more wolves and foxes). This is to avoid them destroying each others' gristmill and protect you from direct attacks. The base location is good but won't survive a full army. If they attack each other that's great, but clean up survivors before mills blow.
9. Only build new farm if about to starve.
The above enabled me to succeed fairly easily
The heroic objective in What Might Be also took me a ton of attempts. Attempting to turtle will get you destroyed and having too strong an army will complete the mission early. I ended up moving as a group while randomly building campfires everywhere to keep the enemy distracted, avoiding combat unless necessary. The campfires will generate enough food (and units) to keep you going until you've racked up 25-30 kills, at that point you'll likely have to fall back into a corner and hope you can get the rest in one go.
Thanks for the guide!
