Level 1 - Short range, deals 1 damage, and shots hang in the air a bit. Must tap the fire button.
Level 2 - Range nearly doubles, deals 2 damage, and you can hold the fire button.

Machine Gun
Location: Curly Brace will offer to trade it to you for your Polar Star after defeating her in the Sand Zone.
Level 1 - Fires small bullets that deal 2 damage each.
Level 2 - Fires larger bullets that deal 4 damage each.
Level 3 - Fires very large bullets that deal 6 damage each. In addition, this level adds recoil to the weapon when you shoot.
Note: This is the first option you have to trade away your Polar Star, but it means you will miss out on the Snake or the Spur!
Blade
Location: Talk to King after you defeat Enraged/Rabid Tokoro, as he's laying on the floor, and he will give you the Blade.

Level 1 - As many shots as you can shoot, fires through walls. Deals 4 damage.
Level 2 - Moves like a snake, goes through walls. Deals 6 damage.
Level 3 - Longer range, still goes through walls. Deals 8 damage, and 4 shots allowed at once.
Note: The only weapon that can shoot through walls, useful in Speedruns.
Spur
Location: The Hermit will take back his Polar Star, but give you the Spur in return after he sees how much use you've put on the Polar Star.
Level 1 - Same shot as Polar Star level 3. (Without the 2-shot at a time limit.)
Level 2 - Fires a thin laser. If it kills the enemy, then it will go through them. Deals 15 damage.
Level 3 - Same as level 2, but it shoots two lasers. Deals 50 damage.
Level Max - A powerful shot, wide angle laser that can destroy most enemies in one hit. It can deal up to 100 damage.
Note: This weapon must be charged to be used, similar to a Mega Man X buster.
Super Missile Launcher
Location: Found in the Boulder Chamber after defeating Balrog, and having him help you move the boulder.
Level 1 - Launches a small super missile that does moderate damage.
Level 2 - Launches a large super missile that does a high amount of damage.
Level 3 - Launches 3 small super missiles at once, while still only consuming one ammo.
Note: A heavily upgraded missle launcher.
Nemesis
Location: Trade the Blade in with the little man in the door at the bottom of the Outer Wall. This is available only after you return the Little Man to his wife.
Level 1 - Great range (at least 1/2 of screen), incredible damage (12), and a slight plowing effect. Limit 2 shots on screen, but they travel fast.
Level 2 - Damage is halved to 6 damage, although it's still a decent weapon. Range is about the same, limit 3 but they don't travel as fast.
Level 3 - Does 1 damage and has less range than the level 1 Polar Star.
Note: The only weapon that gets WORSE as you level it up!

Snake really isn't all that useful for much other than a safe, slow playthrough. It's not particularly powerful when compared to the Machine Gun or Spur, the amount of XP required outweighs the damage/utility, requires the arms barrier to not be a liability, you lose 2 okay weapons for 1 mediocre weapon, and there's no extra bonus item/upgrade for it like the turbocharge or whimsical star.

There's a reason Blood-Stained Sanctuary runs use Spur, and full speedruns use Machine Gun.

Despite the fact that it has some of the most insane potential DPS and area clear of any weapon at Level 3, one thing that reeeeally sucks about the blade (besides the 1-at-a-time thing) is that at level 3, you only need to get hit once, no matter what, to downgrade the weapon back to Level 2. The blade also requires a significant amount of XP to get back to Level 3, at least it feels like it does when you have to use a level 2 blade.

You are NOT going to tell me that there is a whole-ass weapon I didn't know about after playing this game for 10+ years. I REFUSE TO HEAR IT.

You should add that the spur has a item that further upgrades it.
