Improved graphics without damaging the atmosphere

Mafia is a great game but by default it doesn't support widescreen mode. This build of Mafia has improved graphics and fixes the FOV and aspect ratio, bringing the game up to modern standards without damaging the atmosphere!
A lot of mods damage the atmosphere but this build does not!
Look at the pictures to make sure!

Replace the steam game with this build. If you want to play with Steam Overlay,you need to create a Desktop Shortcut and link to it in your Steam Library.

Before first start of the game you need to adjust settings as shown below:
1) Nvidia Control Panel settings(sorry for Russian i need English):

2) In the game folder shortcut "Setup" settings:

3) Install Visual C ++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2013 it is in the game folder
4) In the game folder shortcut "dgVoodooCpl" settings:

Do not forget to set game graphics to maximum.

P.S. Framerates higher than 60 FPS can cause bugs.

yes, it's also a good solution to use widescreen mode only, but you can improve the game with the nvidia panel, this is also very good!

thanks but the default widescreen mode is good enough for me,
you shouldn't claim it doesn't have one.

As for Nvidia CPL settings, I'm not sure if screenshots from the authors update are just old or if it has something to do with the graphics card installed. Here are the settings I use for a monster EVGA 2080ti.

For those primary English speakers landing here as of Jan 2020. This mod is great and does actually improve the graphics and aspect ratio. It all works well. Some notes:

If you have any number of games already installed on your system, you probably won't need the Visual C++ linked. The linked install is fine, but the install package is in Russian. I'm using 12.0.30501 & 11.0.61030 from 2013.

The updated game executable bypasses the opening AVI "movie". You can't see it inside the game, even a fresh start. If you really want to see it, it's in the game directory.

When I tried the mod the first time, the game kept crashing on me. Make *SURE* you have your dgVoodooCpl settings set exactly as shown in the image.

Be sure to grab the sound fix from @marciN, otherwise you'll be missing a couple of memorable music scores ("How to restore the original music to MAFIA: TCoLH")

Other than that, this mod fixes the aspect ratio and many of the textures. It'll look just like you remember.
