Good guide, thanks.
- I rarely get above 1000m detection range when at periscope depth, with the periscope down.
- At night the detection range is much lower. You can surface when enemies are quite close, which helps for out running a long distance ping.
Speeds: I don't think i've ever hit 6knots underwater. But maybe the sub slows down as it takes damage? Anyone else noticed this?
- The open world has a lot of "shallow" water (i.e. less than 100m). A good way of evading the sonar is to go within 20m (depth under keel) of the sea floor. They can't see you. You can still be hit by depth charges, and you don't take damage for being too deep.
- I haven't been hit by depth charges at >110m depth, but this might be luck?
- Depth damage increases between 100 and 200m depth. I find that at around 120m depth, the damage is not that severe and you can hover around here for a while.
