Intro
Money Saving Tips Guide for Knights of Pen and Paper: +1 Edition.
(Available on PC/MAC/AND/IP/UNIX)

Brought to you by Ackeron.

This guide was originally made due to the option of micro-transactions
being included in the original release. In Patch 2.09 this was removed
due to the fact it made more people angry then not. Micro-transactions
were never needed to play the game but caused some people to be
wary of buying a game they thought might have just been after
their wallets.

This guide will remain though but with a new purpose. Instead of informing
you how to avoid micro-transactions. It will be about general tips for a more
enjoyable playthrough. .... In other words, aside from the Intro and title changing
and Prologue being removed it is pretty much the same.

So with that done, welcome new owners of a great game. Hope you enjoy the
guide. Have fun!

----------
I - Basic: Generic Tips (Most of which are obvious.)
- FARM. Seriously farm some coin and xp. All RPGs of any merit
include some way to farm and this is one of them. Do not neglect
this.

- Have a balanced team. Atleast try to have a healer and a tank.

- Remember to lvl your threat ability on your tank and your heals on
your healer.

- All dice rolls are effected by Luck. Each rank of Luck increases a
rolled # by 1. This includes blacksmithing, mining, and traveling.
There are items and players that can increase luck.

- All gold is shared over all 3 saves you have. If you get
severely stuck, (all your guys are dead and you have no money,)
create a new game on one of the other saves and farm up some coin
there.

- To add additional party members at the start of the game costs
10,80,250. Every character including and after the 5th that you make
costs 250. Use these prices to plan out when or if you want to get
new members. (The Pizza Guy has a 50% discount when you buy him
saving you up to 125 gold.)
II - Blacksmith: Tips about the Dancing Blacksmith.
- To level the horrible Blacksmith to acceptable lvls you need
Grindstones. You can buy them at shops in towns for 25 gold. After
about 3 lvls the amount of stones jumps up and can really break
your bank so to speak.

- Cave areas have mining nodes that refresh every time you come
back to them allowing you to mine them once again. Going from
Default Village to Den of Devil is 2 gold (2 way trip) with a chance
of up to 4 Grindstones saving up to 98 gold.

- Buy 4 Greater Molten Rings from a shop when you hit Lv16. Make
sure to equip them to the character whose gear you are upgrading
everytime for 80% off the normal cost.

- Don't waste money attempting to craft early. His % for success is
really low and the costs can get you if you dont have the rings
mentioned above.

- Needs Lv7 to craft max armor and Lv8 to craft max weapons.

- Don't attempt crafting till he is around Lv6 (personal pref) as
thats when the odds start to tip into your favor.

- The character Paris recieves a -50% Blacksmith cost. This combined with some of the rings above can make her upgrades free.
III - Pen and Paper Shop: Tips for the shops found in the towns.
- Aside from the Greater Molten Rings and Grindstones for the
Blacksmith there is almost no reason to buy anything from here till
you are near the end of the game at which point money shouldn't be
an issue anyhow.

- Do not buy any of the low items. You will get hold over items
randomly from the things you will end up killing on you're way to
save the Pen and Paper world.

- Sell junk you aren't using. Remember your pack can only hold up
to 20 different items.

- If you are buying XP potions NEVER buy the 500 xp one. It costs 20
gold while the 6500 XP potion costs 100 gold. Would need 13 of the
500 to make 1 of the 6500 and it costs an additional 160 gold.

- If using XP potions remember to turn on XP + furnishings and equip
POTION + gear. 4 Elite Harpy Beaks will double the XP from potions.

- The following characters receive bonus xp from potions:
Ronaldo (+100%), Saulo (+30%), Mr. John (+10%),
Ms. Goldberry (+2%)
IV - Real World Shop: Tips for making your room awesome.
- Avoid buying any Snacks and Drinks along with anything that has
to do with them. They are not needed. Cept maybe for the super
secret ultimate boss of ultimate destiny.

- Get the BK Crown and Holy Grail ASAP! 5 members = faster dead
things, unless they were dead allready in which case deader things.
7 Monsters means a larger group of dead/deader things to give you
more loot!

- Get the Golden Table, Red Carpet, and Royal Walls. 24% increased
gold per fight really adds up.

- Buy the Sword and Shield for 10% cheaper blacksmithing.

- Get the Loaded Die before you start crafting or mining to increase
your odds of success.

- If you go mining for Grind Stones get the Cave Wall for a higher
success rate.

- Some of the items here can lower travel costs if those are giving you any problems.
This includes: Dungeon Master (-15%), Map (-50%), Magic Carpet (-30%)

- The Map not only lowers travel costs but also reduces resurrection costs by 50% as well.
V - Combat: Tips to avoid combat costs
- When creating a party try to put your tank in one of the end seats.
Monsters will sometimes use area of effect moves on your party and
since your tank has the highest threat it will more then likely be on
them.

- In the spot next to your tank always put one of your beefier characters
as they will take a beating from area of effect moves used on your tank.

- Party order can be redone via the tavern so you can apply the 2 tips
above.

- Always know your limits. Don't just slap 7 monsters on for a group
that is around your lvl if you are not sure you can handle it.

- Don't be afraid to run away. When in Doubt RUN LIKE HELL!

- Look at the turn numbers. If you can focus a guy and kill him
before his turn comes up thats less damage done to you then focusing
a guy who allready got his licks in for the round.

- Extension of the above tip: Using Turn #s you can plan out targets to stun
with Blizzard to keep them locked down for a bit.

- Do not underestimate the Weakening Effect of the Warrior and Priest.
At high lvls it can reduce some enemies attack to 1.

- AoE moves are great for packs but are mana hogs and inefficient for
single targets. Try to have at least 1 single target ability on your
damage dealers.

- Try to match the weakness of the target. If its resistant to Magical
stuff try Nature, Physical, or Ice.

- Do not neglect DoTs on enemies with huge HP pools. I've gotten DoTs
to tick for over 700 a round.

- For some odd reason your whole party is weak to Ice Magic. When
fighting something that looks like it will use Ice Magic be ready
to be on the defensive.

- Slay quests can grant bonus exp for splitting up the number of enemies.
An example is the Rebellion quest in Sunset Castle. You have to slay 7 guards.
Fight the first group with 6 guards and 1 bandit. Then slay the second group
with 7 guards. You only get the bonus XP during these quests from the
target monster so 1 Guard and 6 bandits will not really grant any extra exp
aside from that 1 guard.

- Towns make excellent farming locations for money as you can rest
without worrying about being attacked. Default Village >
Sunset Castle > Journey Village > Yoga Village in order of appearance.

- Dungeons can also be used for farming gold as the last boss in them
drop a decent chunk of change. Be careful when using this method as
you cannot rest between fights. Using any consumables will lower the
amount of gold and hamper this method.

- Deluxe Edition Owner Exclusive Tip: The Farm Village is a great place to farm
both xp and gold as the enemies scale to your groups average lvl.

Meh...I've played the game without farming gold, buying horde of items from the store (good luck randomly finding 8 The Four Rings or 8 Pointy Amulet), using the blacksmith since the lowest levels, and finished the game with thousands of gold.
So, not only I don't understand what is the need to save on gold, when it's so much abundant anyway, but even why you are giving advices that makes no sense at all.

I think it makes it so that you're more likely to roll between a 6 to 20.

What exactly does the Cave Wall do? Since it doesn't increase the mining range.
