EELuminatus called upon the community to make more guides and I had stuff laying around. So now you get to see that stuff. If you want to see EEL's guide then hopefully you know how links work:

I'm going to explain three core strategies common to most RTS games (including Tooth and Tail). These strategies are: Eco, Rush, and Turtle.

Eco: Eco is short for economy. In this strategy you take the resources you have gathered and invest them into obtaining more resources at a faster rate. In Tooth and Tail this is done by buying farms and campfires. The plan is to have an economy greater than your opponent's economy, so that you can fund a late game army that is larger and more advanced than your opponent's army. With this large and advance army you can easily overwhelm your opponent's army and defense allowing you to walk right in and destroy them.

Rush: This strategy arose as a way to defeat Eco. In this strategy you take the resources you have gathered and invest them into army and then attack your opponent. Because Eco players invest their early resources into farms they don't have any army early in the game, so when rush players attack them early in the game, the Eco players can't defend themselves. Even if you can't out right defeat your opponent with a rush, if your opponent doesn't have enough army or defenses then you can gain an economic advantage over your opponent by killing their farms.

Turtle: This strategy arose in response to Rush. It is basically a slower Eco that protects you from Rush. In this strategy you take the resources you have gathered and invest part of it into farms and part of it into defenses (defenses can include army). With the help of defender's advantage, you will be able to defeat your opponent's Rush with a slightly smaller force. The small economic advantage you have from investing a little into farms will over time be used to invest into more farms for a greater economic advantage. Eventually you will be able to afford a powerful army that can crush the Rush player's army who can't keep up because they did not invest into economy. However, if a Turtle player is matched against an Eco player then the Turtle player will lose. This is because the Eco player will reach that unstoppable super army before the Turtle player since the Eco player invested more into economy.

Tooth and Tail has an interesting mechanic you all know as selling. When you sell you get a full refund allowing you to switch between these strategies on the fly. So, if you see your opponent Turtle, then sell your army and Eco. If you see your opponent preparing a Rush then Turtle. If you see your opponent Eco then build lots of army and Rush.

To recap the balance:
Rush > Eco > Turtle
Turtle > Rush > Eco
Eco > Turtle > Rush
