Intro
Most buildings in Tropico 6 have at least one upgrade or alternative work mode, and it's hard to memorize them all. With some of them, it becomes slightly difficult to determine whether a resource is renewable or not, as well - so I made a handy guide you can check with when you need a resource and can't remember what your options to get it are!

Bear in mind, this guide makes no mention of eras or research - some resources start out non-renewable, but become renewable as you progress.

Here's a list of all the resources in the game with the buildings that produce them, the buildings that consume them, and whether or not they're renewable.

Note that this only takes industrial buildings into account - eg. food is also consumed by your citizens, raid buildings sometimes require you to supply a certain amount of a resource to overcome a setback, etc. These are not listed here.

Here's a table of all the good prices and their availability.

Tier describes how far down the production chain a good can be made:
  • Tier 1 goods are the basic ones - they require nothing to produce. They're mined, harvested, cultivated, or otherwise produced "out of nothing".
  • Tier 2 goods are made from one or more Tier 1 goods
  • Tier 3 goods are made from one or more Tier 2 goods
  • Tier 3(+1) goods are made from one or more Tier 2 goods and one or more Tier 1 goods

Food is consumed and sold in Groceries and Shopping Malls. Consumer goods are consumed and sold in Shopping Malls. A Shopping Mall with the luxury goods upgrade can additionally sell Luxury goods (thanks Zeekay980 for pointing that out!)

Are planks tier 1? They made from logs, so should be T2, no?

Based on the miniscule amount of content in them and the price points, I don't plan on getting the DLCs. I'll gladly update the guide if someone posts the info about DLC buildings, though!

Rum and Cigars sells a lot.
Rum and Sugar is a big deal during colonial era.

I built this mind map to show ROI, initial investment, yearly costs, yearly revenue and 5-year profit totals by industry for all World Wars Industries.

Best ROI is Cigars (99%. Simple to set up: 2 factories, 3 plantations)
Top earner is Weapons industry (130k over 5 years but you need 3 factories to balance the supply chain)
Top earner under 50k initial investment is Boats (42k initial, 99k profit over 5 years)
Also great is the Creamery. 39% ROI, also feeds your pop.

Do you have information on the ratios of raw resource turned into processed resource? It's hard to accurately gauge which industries are in the end the most profitable ones without this information.
