Preface
The Kickboxing Guide was written by me, the author of this Steam Guide. My Drunken Wrestlers 2 username is God. I'm an Alpha Tester, Supporter, the Drunken Wrestlers League founder, have ranked #1 on leaderboard, and the pioneer of competitive Kickboxing techniques.

I've decided to share my knowledge of the Kickboxing game-mode with the community through this guide. This knowledge will teach you all you need to know about the mode, but to consistently beat other players, you will have to attempt to master everything explained in this guide.

This guide is updated whenever I discover new techniques.

Notable Attacks:

The Hook is extremely fast and effective at close range, making it the perfect punish tool when the opponent is in your face. This move will get you out of dangerous situations when you're out of block and can't safely sprint away from the opponent. It can easily combo into the Uppercut.

The Kick is also a great mixture of these stats, and it's an incredible move to use alongside the Swing and Axe Kick when fighting an opponent. While not quite as explosive as those moves, it is effective at any range whereas the Swing or Axe Kick would whiff or get you injured.

The Step Kick is much like the Kick, but reaches much farther at the cost of overall speed and effective range.

The Swing is incredibly powerful, and should be your go-to tool for dealing damage.

The Spinning Back Fist is very slow and punishable, but greatly depletes the opponent's block gauge and can be followed up with many different attacks. You can use it to hit an opponent as they rise from the ground, and then continue attacking and crush them if they attempt to attack immediately after standing. The move often destroys the opponent's entire block gauge in a single hit, allowing for free damage from any following attacks.

The Front Push Kick has the highest range out of all attacks in the game, making it useful for long range approaches. However, you can be punished if an opponent blocks it successfully. Regardless, it can net you a free knockdown at the start of the game as the move has a chance to knock the oppoenent down even if they block it.

The Axe Kick can easily knock opponents down, and should be abused to damage downed fighters. It can also hit twice in a single use, as the leg rises and as it falls. It's great at splitting the opponent in two or breaking off one of their legs.

The Roundhouse has a good mixture of speed, range, and power. It is a great move for knocking the opponent down--aim for their head!
Basics
Attack Strings

When attacking a blocking enemy, you should string together attacks until it is no longer safe to do so. The goal is to decrease the opponent's block gauge and potentially catch them with an attack, but halting the assault before you throw out an unsafe move. The best way to overcome an opponent is to learn their favorite string and punish it whenever they use it predictably.

To avoid having your own strings read, mix them up! Most players, for example, do not use a follow up attack after the Roundhouse. Since you can continue the string with a Spinning Roundhouse or an Axe Kick without risking too much, you have the option to throw in an unexpected move every now and then, giving you a higher chance to hit your opponent.

Punishing an Opponent

When in an attack, you cannot block. This means that you should aim to hit your opponent as they throw their own attack. This is your primary method of dealing damage to other players.

If you achieve a knockdown, your focus should be keeping them on the ground and breaking their block. Utilize the Axe Kick to gain the advantage in the fight, and use Swing as they get up to dish out damage.

Block Break

If you're playing against a defensive opponent, spamming attacks on their block is a good strategy. If the opponent's block is broken, you can deal massive damage to them without putting yourself at risk, and they can't avoid it unless they run away.

Using multiple Axe Kicks on a downed opponent is a great way to guarantee free damage once their back on their feet. If you hit them twice with a single Axe Kick, their block gauge will decrease greatly. Breaking their block with this method and then using Swings to deal massive damage afterwards is a great approach to combat.

Keep in mind that in attempting to break an enemy's block, you put yourself at risk by attacking and dropping your guard. Fight wisely!
Advanced Techniques
Ground Trap

The Ground Trap is an advanced technique that allows you to keep your opponent from getting up after a knockdown, effectively winning you the fight. However, it is possible to fall down if you mess up, putting you into either a neutral or disadvantage state in the battle.

This technique is still being developed--I'll need to test further and see if it's even possible to perform consistently.

Knockback Reset

The Knockback Reset is a last-resort technique that allows you to escape the opponent's pressure when you're knocked down. The technique is simply dropping your block when an opponent attacks your torso as you rise from a knockdown. The risk in this tactic is high, as you risk taking a critical hit. However, you can also be blown far from the opponent, allowing you to get up and continue the fight on even ground--at the cost of your own health.
