Introduction
Here's a guide of the easiest areas to locate all the enemy variations, there's usually 4 common colour variations, 1 uncommon, and 1 rare. The uncommon variation I call the "Red" variation and the rare variation is the 'Undead" variation because it rhymes and it's easy to remember.

The only exception to this rule are Linda's, The Street Punks and the Teddy Bear Casino Mascots, they only have 3 colour variations, 1 common, 1 uncommon and 1 rare... so one normal colour, the red colour and the undead colour.

There is no real reason to recruit everyone, other than your own personal OCD acting up because your character menu isn't 100% complete. Recruiting every enemy character in the game does absolutely nothing for you stat wise or achievement wise... it's just for the sake of your own personal save data completion, nothing more.

This guide is going to be screen shot heavy because a picture says a thousand words. I'll start at the top and work my way to the bottom of the list in chronological order. Most of your uncommon and rare variation farming is going to be done in Ocean Heights. Ocean Heights is basically end game content, so I wouldn't go crazy at the start of the game trying to find every rare / uncommon variation.

Just have some patience and wait, the rare and uncommon variations show up way later and if you're really impatient they show up even more frequently on NG+ mode... so just blitz through that and get to the end again.

This mostly boils down to luck so don't get frustrated if you can't find one. I'll try to detail where the best spots are to find the rare / uncommon variations of each enemy. The worst thing is fighting through tons of enemies you don't need only to get a single shot at an enemy type but there are a few of those in this game, so have some patience.
Tips and Tricks
  • You're going to want to buy both the Bunny Badge and Merlin Badge from Merlin's Mystery Shop before you even attempt this, if you don't it's going to take 3 times longer to kill enemies wasting your time.

  • If you have to, hack your money with cheat engine to buy those badges, it saves you hours upon hours of doing mindless money farming.

  • Always save the colour variation you want for last, there's usually two waves that spawn in each area. The initial wave NEVER has rare / uncommon colour variations in it. It's always the second wave that produces the rare / uncommon variations to spawn, just keep this in mind.

  • Be cautious when using the Tank Badge because you can 1 shot most enemies even on NG+ with a super attack.

  • Use basic combos and make sure not to spam 3 hit combos too much when near a colour variation you want to try to recruit, otherwise you may accidentally kill them.

  • If you have to, unequip the Tank Badge when you're down to the last enemy you want to recruit. Stay on the same attack plain as them and just rush in and attack then rush out finally rush back in and attack, keep this pattern up until they surrender. It usually takes 5 weak strikes to make them surrender.
Pompadour / Greaser Variations
These guys show up about as much as the preps do at the beginning of the game, which is kind of sparse.

Near the middle-end of the game there is one particular grind spot that is made just to find the rare variations. It's in the downtown area map on the basketball court next to the playground.

You'll easily find all 4 common colour variations here, just wait until the second wave shows up to find the red / undead. It took me about 3 or 4 zonings to finally get the undead variation, the red variation almost always shows up in the second wave.

School Girls
Meh, these chicks are everywhere, very common characters like the cheerleaders, you'll most likely get a red variation somewhere just following the story / grinding for money. The undead variation seems to love hanging out around Ocean Heights though so you may want to check there for her.

You can easily get most of her common variations just hanging out at this playground in the downtown area:

However if you want the Red / Undead variations your best bet is to hang out in front of the Ocean Heights Hotel area, you could also try the main streets north of the Hotel or even the beach, whichever area spawns more school girls in the 2nd wave is the area you want to hang out in and try to farm her.

She'll eventually show up while you're trying to get cheerleaders and preps so try to farm all those types at the same time as they're basically in the same category.

Preppy Guys / Suit Dudes
Again, about as common as the Greaser / Pompadour guys, they show up mixed in with Cheerleaders and School Girls mostly, they're always in the minority, almost the entire game. I honestly haven't found a really good spot where a bunch of these guys spawn in the 2nd wave but feel free to add a contribution if you know a better spot.

Again, same thing as the School GIrls, check the playground:

Or just area's around Ocean Heights:

Maybe even check the Ocean Heights Park area as that's where I found the Red and Undead variation by just waiting for Terminator guys before I knew any better:

Cheerleaders
These thots are everywhere... You can basically get the first 4 uncommon variations before leaving River City Highschool right at the start of the game, not a hard thing to do.

The Red / Undead variations love showing up at Ocean Heights beach though, so hang out there. You might even get a Red / Undead School Girl or Preppy Guy while you're trying to farm them so it won't hurt.

Casino Mascots / Linda Lash / Street Punks
I'm lumping these guys together because there's one specific spot you can get all three of them at the same time and it's pretty nice for farming... it takes about 35-40 re-entries to nail them all but it's a great way to get rid of all three of these types one right after another.

Ocean Heights Park Bathroom:

Godai gives you a side quest in here to kill a preppy guy in a pink suit called One-Hit Tom or something like that, kill him if you have to, if he's not there, then great, just wait for these three to enter.

Just remember that if the first one that comes through the door is the variation you want, you're going to have to kill the other two first to recruit that colour variation. Make sure to just kite the undead / red variation around until you can dispatch the other 2 enemies that show up.

This is what the outside area of the bathroom looks like, it's the only one in Ocean Heights so you can't really get confused as to where its location is:

Here's where you want to wait for the enemies to enter:

Tiger Wrestlers / Luchadors
Basically only one spot to do this, which is the best spot and it's the Ocean Heights Hotel Aquarium area. You can also find lots of common security guards here and I occasionally ran in to a red security guard so you can kill two birds with one stone.

You can essentially get all the common ones on the first wave and the rare / uncommon one on the second wave as the game usually spawns 3 extra wrestlers and a couple security guards.

Apparently the Hellwig undead variant always spawns in the male washroom inside the school. ~ credit to Sonic the Coolest

Security Guards
They're everywhere, the red version tends to show up randomly in the toy district but you could just wait until the Ocean Heights Hotel Aquarium to farm him. Once you're done farming Luchadors in the aquarium I would suggest moving on to the Ocean Heights Pier near Burnov because you can farm both uncommon / rare security guards as well as the uncommon / rare Terminator variations.

In the second wave of the pier area you get about 3 security guards and 1 terminator so go there to find the Red / Undead versions of both.

Terminators
So the user "Red Light In My Eye's" has brought us some new information that makes it a lot easier to farm these guys, probably making them the easiest enemy in the game to farm.

If you want the common versions, keep entering the screen in the Downtown area to the right, just after you exit the secret tunnel from the Toy / Fashion District.

One of the common ones always spawns knelt down making a fist next to a broken down van. Coincidentally this is the first time you meet up with them, so no time like the present, get farming.

After you're done with the first four common variations you'll want to hit the tunnel where Merlin's Mystery Shop is located. It's just right of the transit station in the down town area and it connects to the Ocean Heights part of the city.

Kill 3 enemies in here and it'll spawn a Linda followed by 4 Terminators, almost all at the same time. As you can see, just by testing this method once, I spawned one of the uncommon "red" variations. He's hidden by a grenade explosion in the picture but I assure you, he's there. I doubt the undead variation takes much longer to spawn. Perfect place to farm these guys.

This farming method was submitted by user "Red Light In My Eyes".

Male / Female Alien Ant Feeler Assassin Yakuza People?
They're at the very end of the game, fight them in the Tower Lobby. Pick and choose which one you want, you have to fight 3 of them in the initial wave and 6 in the second wave. It all seems to be completely randomised as to how many of each sex you get. Sometimes you'll get 3 males and 3 females, sometimes 2 males and 4 females and vice versa... just make sure not to start beating down the one you want too early, you have to kill 6 enemies in the second wave, keep that in mind.

Make sure you go after the Red / Undead variations first as the other ones always show up eventually. The best thing to do is go after the common ones in the first wave then wait out the second wave for rare / uncommon variations.

You can also dip in to the side bathroom and try for an undead male assassin because he seems to show up more often in there, you also fight 2 Greasers as well but the male assassin guy is usually the first one through the door, so if he's not the variation you want, don't even bother killing him, just leave and refresh the Tower Lobby area.

That's It... THE END.
I hope I've quelled your OCD.

Again, don't start doing this too early as you'll just ruin the game for yourself, do it after you've basically conquered everything and have both those OP badges from Merlin's Shop.

The Shop is located in the Downtown district through the tunnel right of the bus stop that leads to Ocean Heights:

That grey wooden door is the shop, bring 10K with you :P
