Heyoo! Welcome to my guide on DD:A. There's going to be a lot of information in here that I hope is helpful to you in some way. While I'm not the best at writing or properly structuring these things, I'll at least be able to get the information into your hands. I won't have specific values on everything, and some of this information may not be the /best/ since I have yet to test everything but I will update this as we go!

Feel Free to come say hi or ask any questions you may have in my live stream!

Progression: 1-70
When starting Dungeon Defenders I personally suggest that you just take your time and fully enjoy the early game as you'll only get to experience that feeling once. Do some campaign playthroughs, see how far you can get in survival on your favourite maps and try out some challenges! Once you're done with all that here is my personal route through the early game. A few things to note first:

-Only play on Hard Core if you're farming for loot, turn it off for EXP runs
-Most of your stats are going to come from your skill points until level 70
-Depending on your gold you can level up a weapon or two but you'll get a HUGE power spike once you get a Woodland weapons from Act 4
-I STRONGLY suggest playing on Rift Mode right from the start

-EXP Modifiers
Strength in Numbers: 10% per player.
Unbreakable (25%):Build at least 1 tower, have NONE of your built towers get destroyed.
Tactician (33%): Have at least 5 different towers built.
Untouchable (33%): Have the core take no damage during the wave.

Hero Deck
- Monk (Ensnare Aura)................................................SKILL POINTS: Range
- Warden (Wisps/Sludge Launchers)......................SKILL POINTS: Range/Def.Rate
- Rogue (DPS)................................................................SKILL POINTS: VIT/ATT
- EV (Buff Beams, Reflect Beam, Proton Beam) SKILL POINTS: Power
- Huntress (Gas Trap)..................................................SKILL POINTS: Range
- Squire (Blockade)......................................................SKILL POINTS: Fortify
*Note: The Squire is only temporary for progression and will be replaced with a second Warden in the future*

Items To Farm
- Woodland Weapons from Act 4 maps (Rogue DPS)
- Striking Gemstone from Summit Campaign (Easier Building/Waves)
- Primitive Rift/Fusion Set (sludges)
- Guard Rift/Fusion Set (Wisps)
Note: Use the Spreadsheet linked above in "Information Cheat Sheet" to see where each Fusion piece drops and farm them on campaign. The stats on them don't matter, just having the full set is all you need! This guide is assuming you have obtained these items.

1. Full campaign clear on Medium Hardcore Rift Mode
You'll want to start off by just doing a Medium campaign clear. Explore each map, test out each tower and just get a feel for the game. Don't worry about min maxing or anything, just play and have fun, but if you wanted a 'safety net', use EV's Proton Beams down each lane.

- Hardcore is optional but it's good to get used to having it on
- Full Campaign Clear
- Use EV Proton Beams with Monk Ensnare Auras overtop of them
- Skip Keep until later if it's too hard (I cleared it with a maxed Woodland weapon at level 45)
- Use EV's Proton Beams as your main source of damage, you might have to change it up once you get to act 4 (Walls, Ensnare, Gas, Sludges, Wisps, Buff Beams, Reflects)

2 Summit Campaign Rift Mode

Summit Campaign is fairly easy with EV beams and Monk Ensnare auras with Sludge Launchers protecting your cores from Wyverns. Once you have a Woodland Crossbow you'll have more than enough DPS to kill the boss even on Insane difficulty. You can farm this all the way to 70 in a couple hours! Be sure to stay here until you get a Striking Gemstone that affects 4 towers even if you hit level 70.

- Normal EXP: 700k (Levels 30-45)
- Hard EXP: 1m (Levels 45 - 60)
- Insane EXP: 1.7m (Levels 60-70) Turn Hard Core OFF for easier runs

2.1 Foundries and Forges Normal Survival Hard Core Rift Mode

This is where you'll start to really dive into progressing your stats, it's very enjoyable as well as making some gold! Try and clear as far as you can while levelling your heroes to 70 and don't forget to upgrade a Woodland Crossbow for huge damage on your Rogue!

2.2 Act 4 Campaign Maps 1-3 Hard Core Rift Mode

Alternatively you can clear the act 4 campaign maps again as they give really good EXP as well. Avoid Foundries and Forges as it gives a quarter of the EXP than the other three maps. This is NOT as good as Summit but you'll farm the Woodland weapons here.
Progression: 70-83
Congrats on hitting 70! You've made it to the mid game and have unlocked Nightmare. Again I'd suggest just having fun and exploring the new difficulty at your own pace, try and do a full campaign clear, do some challenges and test your build on your favourite maps on survival. Once you're done that and want to get into the grind to 83 you'll want to do a mix of everything listed. The MOST important thing to do at this stage is to complete your Rift Sets for each hero while getting EXP for level 83. This will be the longest part of your progression.

Items to Farm:
- Full Rift Sets for each Hero
- NM Woodland Weapons
- Level a second Warden during your Ancient Mines Survival Runs, remove Squire
Note: This guide is assuming you have or will obtain these items before moving into Massacre.

Hero Deck
- Monk (Ensnare Aura)................................................SKILL POINTS: Range
- Warden (Sludge Launchers)...................................SKILL POINTS: Power/Def.Rate
- Rogue (DPS)................................................................SKILL POINTS: VIT/ATT
- EV (Buff Beams, Reflect Beam, Proton Beam) SKILL POINTS: Power
- Huntress (Gas Trap)..................................................SKILL POINTS: Range
- Warden (Wisps).........................................................SKILL POINTS: Power/Def.Rate

Rift Sets
- Monk: Ancient
- Warden: Primitive
- Rogue: Militia
- EV: Doesn't Matter
- Huntress: Guard
- Warden: Guard

1. Clear Deeper wells on Campaign
An Ogre comes out on wave 1, but thanks to your Rogue DPS and CC you'll have more than enough tools to take him down. From there, place your Fused Sludge Launchers behind the core with gas/ensnare in front and it should be an easy clear. You can do this a couple times to try and get Rift Guard Gloves or Rift Primitive Gloves/Helmet.

2. Clear Ancient Mines on Campaign
This map is SIGNIFICANTLY easier than Deeper Wells, a simple set up with Sludge Launchers, Wisps, Buff Beam, Reflects, Ensnare, Gas traps will do the trick, build linked below. You can do this a couple times to try and get Rift Guard Gloves or Rift Primitive Gloves/Helmet.

3. Spam NMHC Rift Ancient Mines Survival to level 78
This is where the real grind from 70-83 begins. If you use the build I linked, you'll be able to get really far with very little gear as long as you have Rifted/Fused Sludges/Wisps. Once you clear wave 14 you'll get a MASSIVE upgrade to your Wisps, which will carry you to wave 25 giving you another big upgrade for your Sludges! Do this until level 78 while levelling your second Warden for Wisps.

https://builds.dundef.com/build/2547-miniishadow-s-masshc-rift-survival-ancient-mines-build

- Do this until level 78
- Replace Squire with a Second Warden
- Level up your armor
- Keep your EV in non rifted gear (I like to use Miner Gear)
-Once you can clear wave 25, take legendary loot off your loot filter until waves 23+ eliminating a lot of your inventory management! Eventually you can take them off permanently and focus on Mythics/Transcendence
-For a more focused EXP run you can start at wave 20

4. Spam NMHC Foundries and Forge Rift Survival
Once you're done farming Ancient Mines you can clear your way and unlock Nightmare Foundries and Forges. This gives about the same EXP per clear as Ancient Mines does but it has a chance for ANY Rifted Piece to drop to help fill out some of your sets. You'll also get better Woodland weapons! Farm this as much as you'd like.

5. Complete Your Rift Sets
Use the Google Spreadsheet and finish farming the rest of your sets. The stats on them don't matter, what's important is just having each of your heroes(EV doesn't require a rift set) in a Rifted Set going into Massacre. You may want to do campaign for a Guard Helmet if you can't clear the other maps, I used a Guard Helmet from a Campaign map going into Massacre.

Spider:
-They drop from above all over the map.
-They can jump at you from a distance
-If you get hit by their web attack your movement speed and attack speed will be slowed, same goes for your towers!
-Can't hit cores
-While they can drop in numbers, they're fairly squishy

Counters:
-Darkness Traps
-Don't place towers near the cores and they'll walk to the core and afk, if you leave an explosive behind for them they'll be taken care of!

Sharken:
-They spawn from doors
-Their charge attack is one of the more dangerous things in the game. They will start charging up from a distance then sprint down the lane pushing any defences out of the way.

Counters:
-Gas Traps! Even mid charge a gas trap will stop a sharken dead in his tracks
-Spawn camping doors with a wall, this will give 0 room for the sharken to actually charge, he'll come out of the door and start melee attacking instead!
- Shock Beams: They will stop a poison sharken mid charge!

Djinn:
-They can buff minion making them gold giving them more HP and deal more damage
-They can fly up to your towers and destroy them(red beam)
-Shoots a projectile with some knock back

Counters:
Gas Traps at spawn doors
DST(Deadly Striker Tower from the Apprentice)

GoblinCopter:
-Flies in, in their own lanes
-Drops off an ogre at a specific location every time
-Once the ogre has been dropped off the copter will seek you or your defences out and destroy them

Counters:
-Kill them as they spawn dropping the ogre into the void instantly killing it
-DST
-In some maps you can place either an ensnare or gas trap to buy your DST's more time to kill them
Progression: 83-90
This is the late game boys, almost there. You've unlocked Massacre and the game is almost fully open to you! There's just a few things we have to do before entering the "End Game" so lets get too it! The progression is VERY similar to that of Nightmare 70-83, just MUCH quicker.

Items To Farm
- Level 90 Rift Sets
- Accessories with HP REGEN for your rogue
- Woodland Weapon Upgrades

1. Clear Campaign Deeper Wells
With all your Heroes in Rift Gear you'll make quick work of this map.

2. Clear Campaign Ancient Mines
Even easier than before, use the same build from NM

3. Farm MassHC Rift Ancient Mines Survival to Level 90
Same gear upgrades from waves 14 and 25. You'll be able to clear this to wave 25 on your first attempt assuming you farmed all of the Rift Sets from Nightmare. Stay here until level 90. Doing wave 20 starts will net you about 220m exp per run.

4. Foundries and Forges
You can once again farm this map for random chances at Rift Pieces for upgrades as well as obtaining Woodland Weapon upgrades. You'll be making a TON of gold at this stage of the game as well so upgrade all your gear as you go.

5. Level 90 Rift Sets
Finish farming level 90 Rift pieces on all your Heroes using the Spreadsheet or Foundries and Forges.

Siren:
- Tanky
- Spawns with a random elemental resistance including physical
- Any monsters that touch her bubble gain this resistance permanently
- Drops best loot
- Shoots heavy hitting projectile
- Towers cannot target her
- She will leave after a while of not being hit by any hero Damage

Counters:
-Having a second player using a different damage type then yourself(One with physical one with Electric)
-Different forms of damage(Electric aura and Inferno Traps)
-Two different forms of CC(Gas Traps and Enrage Auras)
- Rifted Sets
End Game / Massacre Survival / Episode 1 End Game
Congrats! We've finally made it to the end game boys! Now we get farm our behinds off doing MassHC Survival!

Items To Farm
- HP Regen Accessories
- 8k+ Main Stat on each Builder
- Arcanist Helmets
- Monkey King

--- Once Keep is on Farm ---
- Wolves Bane Weapons
- Weapon/Armour Passives
- 12k+ Main Stat
- Arcanist Helmets

Places to Farm
- Foundries and Forges: you can obtain almost everything here.
- The Keep: End Game BiS Weapons/Armour
- Wave 25: To finish up any low stat pieces that F&F isn't dropping for you.

The Keep
This is our end game. Farming wave 23 starts and killing the boss, open our chest and repeat. Sounds simple right? It is if you have a build and the stats for it, but what if we don't? Well, let's first start off with what we need to clear it!

Hero Deck
- Monk (Ensnare Aura): 7-8k Range
- Warden (Sludge Launchers): 7-8k Power 4-6k~ Range
- Rogue (DPS): 5k~ VIT (1m Hp with 6-8% HP Regen)
- EV (Buff Beams, Reflect Beam): 7-8k Power 4-6k~ Rate
- Huntress (Gas Trap): 7-8k Range
- Warden (Wisps): 7-8k Power 4-6k~ Range

DPS

Hero: Rogue

Main Weapon: Woodland Whisper
Upgrades: 300+ (Into Weapon Damage)
Fire Rate: 0.32 (must)
Vitality: 700+ (most important)
Attack: 700+
Ability: Nice to have, but doesn't matter
Passive: Passives still don't largely matter, it's more important to have the proper stats then the proper passive. It's convenient if you can find the proper stats with a two piece bonus but it's more of a luxury then required.

Pet: Giraffe (You can use a monkey if you have 1m HP with it equipped)
Upgrades: 300+ (Into Vitality)
Vitality: 2k+
Attack: 2k+
Ability: 2k+

Stats: These are the MOST important things for the boss fight
HP Regen: 6-8% (The more, the better)
Health: 1M to 1.5M (The more, the better)
Attack: What ever you get passively, never sacrifice Vitality for Attack until you have Keep on farm

The Build
https://builds.dundef.com/build/2548-miniishadow-s-keep-build

The Boss
With our Rogue geared with with over 1M hp, 6%+ HP Regen, while standing in a fused Healing Aura, we're able to stand still and face tank all of the Lycan Kings melee attacks! His jump will still kill you dead if it lands on you but he'll never do it if you stay close to him!

With lower end stats/dps we'll still need to keep ourselves a live by alternating between our self heal(X) and Umbral Form(4). What it looks like is this:

- Attack Boss for 10% of it's HP to stop him from "prowling"
- Interact with the Chair near your Healing Aura
- Stand In healing Aura While Lycan Melees you
- When your HP Drops to 50-60% use Umbral Form, this will heal you to full AND you wont take any damage.
- Once your HP drops to 50-60% again, use Self heal.
- By the time self heal runs out and your hp hits 50% your Umbral Form should be off cooldown.
- Repeat by alternating between both defensives at 50% hp until the Lycan King is dead.

You should only use your "napalm" ability to lower his armour. Save the rest of your mana for Self Heal(X).

Builder stats
Fortitude: Have enough HP for your auras to survive the wave, anymore is a waste.
Range: Make sure your auras have enough range to cover the distance you need
Rate: If you're not using electric auras then you don't need damage rate, if you are then make it exactly half of your power for the most effectiveness.
Power: Put the remaining points into power as it will increase the slow % on ensnares, the Damage reduction on Strength drains, and the damage on Electric auras.

Squire Guide
Hero DPS
Weapon: Protean Slicer / Wolfsbane Smasher
Set Bonus: Spinning Steel
Main Hand: Chance to Irradiate / Aftershock / Sunder Armour / Damage Boost(Might drop?)
Off Hand: Damage Boost / Attack Rate

Accessories:
- HP + MP Regen

Pet
- Monkey King (Single Target/Boss DPS)
- Lil Bomber (Wave Clear/AOE)

Builder Stats
Squires mainly used for Walls, so just full fort, although once Runes get added this will probably change.

Set Bonus: Etherian Marksman / Inspired Assault
Main Hand: Chance to Irradiate / Attack Speed / Damage Boost / Sunder Armour
Off Hand: Attack Rate / Damage

- Cat

Builder Stats
Fortitude: Have enough so your traps don't die during the wave, anymore is a waste
Range: have enough range to cover the distance you need
Rate: If you're not using explosive/infernos then it doesn't really matter as Gas requires very little rate to be useful.
Power: Isn't needed for gas, if you're using explosive and infernos then keep it above rate.
Apprentice Guide
Hero DPS
Weapon: Wolfsbane Torch
Set Bonus: Etherian Marksman / Inspired Assault / Rearmed
Main Hand: Chance to Irradiate / Damage Boost / Attack Speed
Off Hand: Damage / Attack Speed

Accessories:
- MP + HP Regen

Pet
- Chromatic Gemstone(Buffing Towers)
- Cat

Defense Stats
Fortitude: You don't need to put any points into this as your towers shouldn't be getting hit
Range: 750-800 is all you need for NM content
Rate: Keep it around 200 points under your power until 1500, then put the rest into power until the late game where you can do something like 2600 rate and 4000 power.
Examples:
70 rate / 90 power
150 rate / 200 power
300 rate / 500 power
900 rate / 1100 power
Power: I kind of piled this into rate as well :P
Series EVA
Hero DPS
Weapons: Wolfsbane Sniper / Protean Blaster
Set Bonus: Etherian Marksman / Protean Cannon MK II

Accessories:
- MP + HP Regen

Pet:
- Cat

Builder Stats
Fortitude: Have an EV specifically for Fort, similar to a waller squire
Range: You'll get this passively from gear, no need to focus on it
Rate: You'll get this passively from gear, no need to focus on it
Power: Put all your points into power for the Buff Beam

Proton Beam: OP in the early game, falls off in the late game
Blocking Field: Very versatile wall. A squire blockade has more HP then a 3DU Blocking Field but the field covers more ground.
Reflect Field: Place these on your Fort EVA, extremely useful for protecting your towers from ranged attacks
Shock Beam: The damage on these is pretty nice but they're used for their CC affect. They can stop poison immune sharkens in their tracks. They're a back up for your gas traps for when a poison Siren comes out.
Overclock Beam: This scales off of every stat but power is the most important one IMO
Rogue Guide
The point of this build is to be able to cast as many poison daggers as possible in your Umbral Form. With about 9k ability you'll be able to throw 5 daggers. The max amount of daggers with the highest obtainable ability is 7 although this isn't a realistic goal as you'd need perfect rolls.

Using a cat will allow you to do more dps through Spin to Win although poison dagger is better for bossing.

Hero DPS
Weapons: Wolfsbane Claymore / Wolfsbane Sniper
Set Bonus: Inspired Assault / Marked for Death
Main Hand: Chance to Irradiate / Damage Boost / Attack Speed / Sunder Armour / Double Edged
Off Hand: Chance to Irradiate / Damage Boost / Attack Speed / Sunder Armour / Double Edged
Rune: Poison Dagger / Spin To Win
Skill Points: Ability

Accessories:
- MP + HP Regen

Pet:
- Mista Mine (Highest DPS through Poison Dagger with 5000~ ability and 4000~ attack)
- Cat (Spin to Win)
- Lycan King (Tank/Survivability)

Armour:
Set: Militia
Power: Increases Damage from Abilities
Defense Rate: Lowers Device Cooldowns
Pets
I'll list some useful pets in this location along with a brief explanation of why they're useful. All pets should be farmed in the highest Bonus Wave you can, Lycan King being the best.

Cat
Location: Alchemical Laboratory
Wave: 15 or 25
Look for: 159% with 4 targets and 3 stats

Lil Bomber
Location: Royal Gardens
Wave: 15 or 25
Look for: 0.63 Attack Rate and 3 stats
AOE dps pet, very useful on a Summoner with either a Cat or a second Lil Bomber

Monkey King
Location: Endless Spires
Wave: 15 or 25
Look for: 0.32 Rate and 3 stats
Single Target DPS pet for the Squire and Rogue

Genie
Location: Ramparts
Wave: 15 or 25
Look for: Doesn't really matter, you can only put around 16 points into the mana return
Allows you to maintain either the monk boost or huntress boost for longer. Although having MP regen on your accessories and using a different pet entirely is much better.

Mista Mine(rock)
Location: Ancient Mines
Wave: 15 or 25
Look for: 4000+ base stats
This can be the best in slot pet for Squire and Rogue DPS under certain circumstances. Also incredibly useful for App/Monk/summoner tower boosting as it gives 10% versatility and a TON of ability.

Giraffe on a Treadmill
Location: Any map
Wave: 25
Look for: 3000+ stats
Not as useful as a Mista Mine.

Speedy/Powerful/Striking Chromatic Gemstone
Location: The Summit
Wave: 5(campaign) and 25
Look for: 4 Targets with 3 stats
Amazing pets for boosting your tower DPS, if playing with a friend you can have a apprentice use the speedy and using their C buff giving your towers insane fire rate and have your friend play a monk using their tower boost and powerful gemstone increasing the tower damage by a ton. It's an amazing combo for any tower stack.
Tips and Tricks
You Can interact with the aura symbols to repair and upgrade them

Try and use the movement speed increasing abilities from the monk, squire, and huntress to deal with those building timers!

You can press T for the overhead building mode, while repairing in the overhead few your cursor will automatically move to the next thing that needs to be repaired

Striking Gemstones work on Auras and traps allowing you to make some BIG BOYS.
FAQ
Q. EXP Modifiers?
A.
Strength in Numbers: 10% per player.
Unbreakable (25%):Build at least 1 tower, have NONE of your built towers get destroyed.
Tactician (33%): Have at least 5 different towers built.
Untouchable (33%): Have the core take no damage during the wave.

Q. When to Upgrade Gear
A. While progressing through the campaign for the first time I only upgrade a weapon when I need more DPS, I wait until I hit Nightmare before I start upgrading any armour for builder stats. Dumping around 20-40M into each armour piece for more builder stats will help you reach those higher waves on survival a lot easier allowing you to make more money and find better loot!

Q. Armour types for each hero?
A. It doesn't really matter which set you put on which hero as long as they're wearing a full set for those sweet 40% bonus

Q. Giraffe vs Rock
A. The Giraffe as better stats then the rock without the movement speed penalty but the rock is a much easier to obtain builder pet early game. Once you can farm NMHC Survival Giraffes replace those rocks!

Q. Darkness Traps
A. They make enemies unable to target anything except for Ogres and Dark Elves

Q. Ensnares VS Gas Traps
A. Gas traps are better for spawn camping with a blockades but ensnares are better if you're using the whole range of them because they slow down Dark Elves and Ogres where Gas Traps have no effect on them.

Q. Best loot farm?
A. Lycan King Bonus Difficulty + Mix Mode

Q. Best Exp?
A. Endless Survival

Your map builds dont open up to actual builds, not sure if they were deleted or removed. Great guide so far. Game is officially not being updated any more so hopefully we get an update with the new heroes and runes to finish the guide once and for all, thanks for your hard work!

When time permits an updated guide to include the new heroes, and runes would be awesome. Great guide for getting started to be an Ultimate Defender!

@4ngu5 I do have the community spreadsheet linked that has all of that information in it. I didn't want to simply copy/paste it into my guide as well.

ok wave 100 is a bit niche but drop locations of fusion armour pieces and weapons is quite generic

@4ngu5 yes, the endless survival update hasn't been added to my guide yet, I'm waiting for the next update to drop before updating this :)

Great guide and a solid plan. Following this, anyone can be farming Mass Keep within a few weeks. :koboldbomb:

no link to drop guides or any mention of wave 100s feels like a real end game section is missing here.

@Mr_Weenie Any map set to the "Lycan King" bonus difficulty will have the max loot modifier with Mix Mode. If you don't have the Lycan King bonus difficulty, you can unlock it by completing The Keep Survival to wave 25.
