General Info
Basically, the gist of it is that the game has native Xbox 360/One (XInput) and DualShock 4 support, but the Steam controller compatibility layer breaks it.
Xbox 360/One Controllers
Go to Steam -> Settings -> Controller -> General Controller Settings -> uncheck everything. Your controller should be working now.

Note: you can also do it on per-game basis, by going into Big Picture Mode -> Senran Kagura: Bon Appétit -> Manage Game -> Controller Options -> Steam Input Per-Game Setting -> Forced Off.
DualShock 4
Wired
Go to Steam -> Settings -> Controller -> General Controller Settings -> uncheck everything. Your controller should be working now.

Note: you can also do it on per-game basis, by going into Big Picture Mode -> Senran Kagura: Bon Appétit -> Manage Game -> Controller Options -> Steam Input Per-Game Setting -> Forced Off.

Wireless
Now this one's tricky. It probably works out of the box if you have the official adapter, but if you're like me and just using a standard Bluetooth adapter, then it's a bit more involved.

- Go to Steam -> Settings -> Controller -> General Controller Settings -> uncheck everything.
- Download DS4Windows[github.com].
- Run it once, install the driver, reboot your PC.
- Run it again, connect your controller over Bluetooth, it should show up in DS4Windows.
- Finally, click on the settings tab and check "Hide DS4 Controller".

Now, your wireless DualShock 4 controller should be finally working in-game. The only downside is DS4Windows wraps it to XInput so you only get Xbox button prompts.
Other Controllers
Like I said, the game only supports XInput and DualShock 4. If your controller doesn't have an XInput mode then you'll have to use a wrapper. x360ce[www.x360ce.com] is a good one and supports many brands of third party controllers.

Bought this game years ago and had no issues until now. I'm using an 8bitdo Ultimate controller (Xbox style) and the prompts are now PS glyphs. Steam recognizes this as an Xbox controller (along with every other game). Crazy that I can't choose button glyphs. Controller itself registers but the glyphs makes this unplayable.

Long story short you just need to disable Steam Input for this game. The game itself does native support for wired controllers. It works with Dual Sense and Xbox controller by default, no need to install anything.

Needs to be updated for the Dual Sense controller.

Managed to play using Nintendo Switch Pro Controller, but...
1) Configured own mapping with Steam Tools in Big Picture.
2) Working only when simultaniously connected two controllers: ProCon and XBox type (for me it was Logitech)

Answering if smd want to know why I didn't just play with Logitech one - I used to Switch mapping X/Y and A/B button, so it was hard to me (anyway, I do not understand why everyone can't use the same button mapping :c Nintendo's one is pretty comfortable)

The new Xbox Series Controllers don't like to co-operate when connected through Bluetooth. Certain buttons end up swapped with others, however if using a USB-C cable to connect to the PC the inputs work exactly as they should.
