What You Need
1. Headphones- It's almost impossible to play FNAF 4 without headphones, since you'll be relying on audio cues. Surround sound would be optimal, but any good pair will do. Remember that the jumscares are LOUD, so have the volume on 12-14 if you're wearing headphones.

2. A quiet room- As mentioned previously, you'll be relying heavily on audio cues, so a lack of auditory disturbance (like dogs barking, a TV etc.) will greatly benefit you.

3. A plushie (optional)- Preferably a FNAF plushie. FNAF 4 is probably the most terrifying of all the games, so you may want something to hug if it gets too much.
Tips for Night 1
The animatronics active on this night are Nightmare Freddy, Nightmare Bonnie and Nightmare Chica.

Nightmare Bonnie comes from the left door, while Chica comes from the right. When you go to a door and do not hear breathing, either turn up the volume or press your headphones against your head to double-check that there is no breathing. If you hear nothing, flash the light.

Instead of Nightmare Freddy, Freddles will appear. They basically look like mini Nightmare Freddies and can be got rid of by keeping your torch on them. If you leave them for too long, Nightmare Freddy will kill you.

EXTRA NOTE- Don't worry about your flashlight, as it won't run out of battery like in FNAF 2.
Tips for Night 2
In this night, Nightmare Foxy is activated, though he isn't much of a danger (I didn't even encounter him on Night 2).

If you go to a door and see him in the hallway, don't panic. He won't kill you from the left or right doors. If you hear a creaking sound, however, it means that he is in your closet. Go to the closet and flash the light. If you fully see his face, shut the door for about 10-15 seconds. If only his hook and legs are visible or he's in his plushie form, you're good for a little bit. Like the Freddles, if you leave him alone for too long, he'll kill you.
Tips for Night 5
You might not get to Night 5 in a while, so this part won't be very helpful until then, but if you are, then I hope this will help.

There is only one animatronic active on this night: Nightmare Fredbear.

He has a different strategy from the other animatronics, and you have to be much faster than you are with Nightmare Bonnie, Chica, etc.

Most importantly, you have to listen for which door he goes to. When you go to a door you think he might be at, DO NOT LISTEN FOR BREATHING. Instead, flash the light. If you see him, immediately close the door.

If he walks, then laughs, he's probably on you bed. If he is, then keep the light on him like with the Freddles. It is difficult to determine whether he is in your closet. If he is, then simply close the door until you hear footsteps. If you keep doing this, you should win 2nd or 3rd attempt. Sometimes, he does a fake laugh. As far as I can tell, there is no way to determine what is fake and what is real, but I may be wrong. In my experience, when he fake laughs, he actually hasn't moved at all.

I don't have many tips. I haven't beaten night 8 yet, and probably never will. Night seven is basically like night 6, but more aggressive. Get into a regular rhythm with the main 4, keep foxy away for as long as possible, and remember that Nightmare is WAY faster than Fredbear, and will trick you with fake laughs. It took ages for me to beat it, so have patience.

I skipped nights 3-4 because they don't add any new mechanics and are essentially the same, but harder each time.
