[touge mountain]
Set in the province of Gunma during the 1990s, the series shows the story of Takumi Fujiwara, an 18-year-old boy who helps his father's tofu shop by making deliveries every morning to the hotel on Mount Akina using the car of his father, a Toyota Sprinter Trueno GT-APEX (AE86). Takumi has been making these deliveries since he was 13. As a result, his skills are highly refined, allowing him to fly during any weather condition. In a race on a mountain road (Touge), power is not the most important. Balance, skill and courage are determining factors for victory. Touge are divided into two types: Downhill and Hillclimb. Hillclimb racing depends more on the car's power and the driver's ability to control acceleration. Downhill racing depends on the car's braking and control techniques, requiring less power from the car.
