Turn back the clock to 2016, and FirstGroup had managed to win the contract to continue running the TPE Franchise. With this, they decided to majorly shake up the fleet, in order to improve capacity across the north - One of the things ordered, was the Nova 3 Trainset, which consists of MK5a coaches, with a DT (Driving Trailer) at one end, and a Class 68 at the other - However, these were significantly late being delivered due to various issues with the sets themselves.

When TPE realised this, they considered a stock gap option, of running limited Class 68 services, with MK3 coaches instead of MK5 ones - To which, they actually got rather close, including running one public test run with the set in late 2017 ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cC3K4sHy0TA ) - But unfortunately, the DFT denied this request by TPE, presumably due to the MK3 Slam Doors, since at the time, they were trying their best to get rid of non compliant trains off of the network, including MK3s.

In the end, this idea was cancelled, and TPE continued to simply use the MK3s for training purposes. The MK5s later entered service, a lot later then planned, in 2019, and the MK3s were later stored. This mod acts as a "what if", as to what it may of looked like if TPE decided to give the coaches the brand livery, and also hired in DVTs, to do a similar job to the DTs on the MK5 sets.
