BBCF Full Roster Overview
By Moist Rock
If you are new to the Blazblue series, then this guide will help you get up to date with the entire cast. This guide is composed of 5-7 minute videos that are essentially TLDRs for each character. They go over each character's basic gameplan, Drive moves, tools, and basic
counterplay tips. Hopefully this will help you find a main, learn something useful, or give you the information needed to play against certain characters.

Notations and Resources
Throughout the videos, I will be using keypad notations. Below is a visual representation of this system.

There are other key terms that are important to know.
  • I Frames : Invincibility Frames. Some moves remove or reduce your hurtbox which makes you "safe" when using certain moves, especially when getting up.
  • DP (Dragon Punch) : A reversal mainly used after getting up. These moves generally have I frames which on start up but are also very punishable on whiff and block.
  • IAD (Instant Air Dash) : From the ground, inputting 9 (up+forward) then 6 (forward) will allow you
to air dash upon leaving the ground
  • Safe Jump : A set up that is used to continue pressure. After you score a knockdown, you can engage with an air normal which will hit an opponent that recovers. If the opponent DPs, you will land quick enough to block, making this engage safe and covers most recovery options.
  • IOH (Instant Overhead) : These are overhead/high attacks that are generally performed from the ground and in the air. Characters like Rachel and Valk have hard to react overheads which are performed from low to the ground jump cancels.

I will also list both a Difficulty list and Tier list. These list are only personal opinions and are NOT what the community as a whole will agree upon.

All of the information in these videos and other details not listed in these videos mainly come from Dustloop.

Kylano knows. Tierlists are naturally subjective because the level of play and the characters you play will effect what you rank where. To any new players worried about tiers don't worry to much about it, some characters are definitely stronger than others but everyone can do their thing and win.

This is a really cool resource for new players. As pointed out the tier list is a bit wonky and I think the difficulty chart a little misleading as well. Mostly that it really poorly represents characters like Tager who actually have some pretty difficult execution once you start actually doing combos and set ups and not just churning butter in block strings to SPD. Tager is also the strongest he has ever been in BB and easily a high mid tier to low top tier character now. Teruumi and Tsubaki are also a lot better than people thought when the game came out and people started learning more and more tech and how to properly use overdrive. I just dont want people to be discouraged because they were told something was easier than it is or that something they thought looked cool is actually bad when its not. Unless they want to play Makoto. In which case they deserve the struggle

Arakune being top 5 is fucking CAP

a tier list being away from common opinion is actually very common. some of the most proficient japanese players recently released a tier list and everyone disagreed with it. tier lists are just naturally controversial and thats fine.

There's some stuff I don't agree with here, esp that tier list. Yes yes opinions and all but it's so far deviated from common opinion all over and I take more issue with it on being that way on something meant as a guide for new players. I do however respect the effort of making a short video for every character like this. :SD_Mu:
