This is a collection of Tips, Tricks and Information discovered about the game so far.

Note: this game is a NEW game and we are still figuring it all out.

Just wanted to share some of the useful things I have discovered so far.

If you have more information about any of these topics, please share - this guide is NOT intended to be an AUTHORITY, and I am not an expert in this game (yet). But I hope we can all share information and become experts together :)

Any contributions from the community to add to this guide and also to help me in my gameplay are very welcome!

1. Guide to Earning XP awards in Battle

Just a few details about how XP is awarded/ shared in this game:
XP is NOT shared - only the Knight scoring the Killing Blow gets XP
Missions reward base amount of XP for each participant (around 20-30 but it can vary, maybe goes up with mission difficulty)
Kills with Exploding Barrels do not give XP
Throwing environmental objects does give XP
Kills form falling DO give XP
Grenade kills give normal XP

Summons and raise dead CAN give (a very small amount) XP, but I think I have also gotten Zero XP other times, so maybe higher level knights no longer get XP form very weak enemies? (unconfirmed).

You do not always need to kill every enemy- but if you can delay the mission ending safely you can farm more kills for XP.

Have also included a 1 minute video for the reading impaired :P

If anyone has any other XP tips I missed, please post. (Still learning)
2. Before You Reveal an Enemy Patrol!

No.1 TIP for Legendary Difficulty Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters
Safest Way to activate Chaos Gate Enemy Pods and Enemy Patrols
"Pre-Shielding" and Stacking up Grey Knights before revealing pods.
Aegis Shield is cancelled if the enemy discover YOU, but if you Pre-shield , then YOU reveal the Enemy, you keep your Aegis Shields AND you get your three new action points.

If you have more tips relating to this topic, please post below to share with me and the rest of the community!
3. How to Avoid Revealing Patrols Until You Are Ready

Short vid. explaining how Patrols/ Enemy Pods operate in Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters.

Enemy Patrols have a Sight Radius of 15 Squares from their centre point and an Arrow that Displays their intended Move Direction on the Following Turn.

If you move within 15 Squares of an Enemy Patrol they will be revealed and Activated - once activated they will generally NOT damage your knights immediately but may enter overwatch or destroy cover or take other actions.

Note**: Enemies CAN in some rare cases Reveal if you are further that 15 squares, AND there is an unimpeded Line of Sight between the Patrol Marker and one of your knights.

I don't currently know why that is - top theories are:
1. "Some Higher Level Enemies can see further" (*NOT confirmed)
2. "If an Enemy Pod contains a number of units the position of the hidden it's matters and the sight distance is counted from their location , not the centre of the marker" (*NOT confirmed)

If you have more information relating to this topic, please post below to share with me and the rest of the community!
4. Grey Knight Classes - Builds and Ability Guides
Guide to Justicar Grey Knight abilities tree and how to effectively spec/ build the Justicar as he levels up.
This is an HONOR THE CHAPTER build guide with some discussion of alternate ways of building the Justicar.

Update II Severely Nerfed Justicars. Willpower Cost of Honor the chapter increased and made it harder to get Willpower points back, the ability is harder to spam, but it is still an amazing ability. I would say 3 or 4 x Justicar is not really viable anymore. I'd still take at least 1 Justicar in all builds (for Honor the chapter) but more than that is not a no-brainer anymore.

Work In Progress - need to do some writeups and add more Class Builds.
(Build suggestions/tips welcome, especially for the Advanced Classes welcome - please post in comments)
5. Best Locations to Attune Prognosticars
The small starting Map will expand after you research the second Seed Tech and fight the special Mission.
The smaller original System map fits inside the expanded one:

Turns out you can cover all but 2 Planets with THIS Layout. Full Credit to Vetinari77 for figuring this out:
The Highlighted Systems are:
(counter clockwise)
Ur-Tet
Y'zheim
Caaleph
Amalrich
Fides
Pentragast

6. Item Rewards and Requisition Guide

Excluding Passive Wargear and Grenades, all other items in the game are unique (you cannot loot duplicate items).
There are SOME items that have a more powerful versions of them at tier 2 and 3, but many items do not have a higher or lower tier version.

Re: Armoury Choices - In general, you want to try to have 8 requisition available at every grandmaster report, starting with the first at Day 30, then Day 90 and every 60 Days after that, so you can unlock the next tier of each of the 4 item categories EACH report.
I always keep Knight Requisition at level ONE and never raise it. Lower level knights are less likely to have skills spent incorrectly and are easier to kill in battle to use for Communing to give your other knights extra skill points.

@Sykomyke, let me add that advanced classes appear only after the story advances sufficiently. You need to complete the Craftworld mission .

@Sykomyke, I get advanced classes as rewards at first requisition level for knights. This is on legendary difficulty, so the rule probably applies to all difficulty levels.

I was under the impression if your knight requisition level was below level 3, then you would not be offered "advanced" class knights as mission rewards. Can someone confirm?

More info on how to attune prognosticars, just in case someone will still be interested. I had a computer check all the combinations. I can confirm the prognosticar placement presented in this guide is optimal. There is no way to have less than two systems outside coverage with 6 prognosticars. However, there is a little more leeway here, as there are exactly 3 more optimal combinations, albeit all very similar. I have annotated one of the pictures from this guide to illustrate:

This may prove useful when you just need to lower the bloom level for one of the systems for which there is choice. You may also see it as an alternative choice of one among two systems that must be left with no coverage - you may prefer to have prognosticar bonuses for one of them more than for the other in your play-through.

@Fonzosh--your tips are all spot-on, except for No. 2. You cannot buy advanced classes (Librarian, Purgator, Paladin, and Chaplain) from the barracks--ever. Mission rewards are the only way to get those spiffy lads.

As for Knights with pre-chosen skills, you can minimize this (inane) problem by not investing more than 1 point into Knight requisition at the armoury screen. This way, you'll never get mission reward Knights above level 3, and the game cannot mess up their builds too badly at that point, compared to receiving a pre-skilled level 7 Knight with the worst skill allocations you can imagine (e.g. a Librarian with every skill except for the teleport, psychic scream, and vortex trees filled in).

More tips for the game
1. Use gate of infinty (Librarian/Card ability) to activate enemy pods. This way you start with full AP and fully buffed knights.
2. Do not buy awarded knights since these have prechosen skills. Instead, buy new knights from the barracks (they cost 2 req points) because these are "0-lvl" knights and you lvl them up as you choose. That way you can also spare some req points on Grandmaster meeting. Also, you can save game before you end a battle. When you then return to ship you can choose the knight.
3. When you start the game, be sure to control what kind of baseline skill your knights have. If you are not satisfied, restart.
4. Allways save before a critically wounded knight is returned to battle. That way you can choose what kind of augementation your knight gets.

@MortisTheSafetyTortoise Added a list of the systems, Steam doesn't want to let me upload another image for the starting system locations though.

You might want to include an updated image of the prognosticar locations with the starting map outline or include a list of the labeled systems.
