INTRODUCTION
Welcome back, PLAYER!

Retro City Rampage has had built-in Mod support for a long while now, yeah? So I decided to whip up something special for the 10th anniversary of this classic indie title.

It was a lot of work, but I've got something I feel is worth sharing. Hopefully it'll bring some entertainment to those who want to take on this blast from the past, from the past!

Main Features include...
+ Updated vehicle sprites, with a focus on consistency and compatibility!
+ Overhauled character sprites and character definitions; everyone's got style!
+ An easter egg or more, see if you can figure them out!

What are you waiting for?! Let's get things rollin'!
DOWNLOAD 'EM!

Grab the main modpack version you want from either of these links! Extract it with winrar or 7zip, or whatever you prefer.

Please let me know if any of the links are down!

FAITHFUL : Less intrusive edits to the vanilla player styles, still includes extra head spriting for main story / shopkeep characters!

PLUS : Includes a few extra playable character styles to enjoy, including some from SHAKEDOWN HAWAII! See the included documentation for more details!

NITE : Adjusts the overall city palette to be night-like as seen on some missions.

INSTALLATION!
Once you have files extracted, copy and paste the "cars.mod" and "characters.mod" files into the "mods" directory of Retro City Rampage's installed location.

Launch the game, open the Main Menu screen, and go to the "Mods" option, near the bottom of the list.

Navigate to the menus within there, and press the (Accept) button to load/unload the mod files on each of their pages.

Repeat for both pages...

Press the (Back) button after loading each mod to return to the previous menu.

Start up the game or go free roaming. That's about it, get to playing, PLAYER!

CONGRATULARATION!
Now you're playing with POWER! Or at least Mod Power. Have fun with the fresh spritework!

Thank You for downloading and trying out my ModPack, and Thank You Brian Provinciano for the good times and good games!

CONGRATULARATION, Retro City Rampage, a 10th Anniversary You Has Reached!

BONUS TIME!

Some extra hints and tips:

+ The "Red Sweat" cheat code doesn't disable achievements and leaderboards, but mods being loaded will!
+ You can still earn achievements and use the leaderboards after using mods on a save file.
+ To do the aforementioned tip correctly, save/quit/close the game, and then reload into the file without mods enabled.
+Using a Controller with a D-Pad, but not getting any output in game from it? Using the following Controller Layout settings, getting your controller to have both Analog and D-Pad output is a snap!
+The Third Image in the following Controller setup things using Steam Input is optional!

BONUS DOWNLOADS!!

I dug up the full-size CITY MAP from a long time ago. Preservation ROCKS!

Seems I needed to sweep deeper in the storage for some of the latest files! :sweeping:

The ModPack content for FAITHFUL and PLUS should now be as they were on October 30 of '23! How in the world did I miss that?! :SonicManiaItemBox::ElBlaze:

Apologies for the Back-2-Back update messages, it's been a trip! :offbalance::centipede:

Recently did a Re-Up of all the modpack files, and even double-salvaged the map I saved from way back! Pardon any mess, and if anything is out of place, gimme a shout! :bighead:

Reason for the re-uploads needing doing, is that recovering from a heaping stack of unfortunate events has me fortunate enough to not be broken by said events. Learning from it all is important, too! Gotta give thanks for that, like some NAME BRAND Mac & Cheese!

I may still have work to do on this, too, and lucky day, PLAYERs! I -still- have the source files to work with! Will be double-checking files and making sure everything is the latest, so if ya want, check back on this space. And no, it ain't for sale OR rent! :flexing:

Meanwhile, strap in, lock-and-load, and remember: A WINNER YOU CAN BE!

Another update to the guide and modpack has been released on October 30th, 2023.

Cleaned up the "Jack-O GP" to have a less-pronounced border on it's lower side. Perhaps the Lynx is next up for that treatment...

Made the "Immobile" have no overlay / not convertible while still looking "campy" enough for your Biff Channel Adventuring Times. POW!

The latter features of the update are now part of the Main packages.

The PLUS version now has a couple of "civilian" versions of some of the more unique cars. This mainly applies to the "ElDiablo Convertible" and "Lynx Convertible", which are now street-faring versions of the "Generally" and "K-2600", respectively.

Go get 'em, PLAYER! :bombproof:

Again, thank you for viewing and enjoying Retro City Rampage with my modpack!

An update to the guide has been released on October 30th, 2023.

Finally updated the images for Steam Input / Controller Layout settings to match the current UI designs. It's even easier to set up than before, it seems.

Updated the "Gun Dealer" Truck (iHaulAmmo, eHaul) with some visual bugfixes to make it work with different color modes such as Cold and Portland III.

Updated the "K-2600" with a snazzy new animation for the lighting bar on the front, and also made the rear lights match up with them, just for the fun of it.

The latter two parts of the update are part of the Main packages.

Download 'em, plug 'em in, and have fun playing, PLAYER! :bighead:

Again, thank you for viewing and enjoying Retro City Rampage with my modpack!

An update to the guide has been released on November 24th, 2022.

I've now got two variants of the main modpack, "FAITHFUL" and "PLUS".

"FAITHFUL" is intended to be less intrusive with style edits and "self-inserts", so to speak.

"PLUS" is like the old versions of the modpack, including a few new characters to rampage the city with, including a couple of main characters from SHAKEDOWN HAWAII! See the included guide with this version to get more details.

Both variants include an updated cars.mod file, which makes a few minor pixel tweaks to the sprites of vehicles that I missed on the previous release.

Lastly, I added a new PALETTE MODPACK section, and included a simple Night-time variant to try out alongside the earlier No-Flash palette pack or standalone.

Again, thank you for viewing, downloading, playing, and enjoying Retro City Rampage with my modpack!

An update of the ModPack has released on November 5th, 2022.

I added a few new character sprites for some of the Story Mode characters, such as Mach Razorburn, and those "High School Hooligans", for examples.

Some of these characters also appear as shopkeepers, so you may even see them outside of the main story!

Also included now is a little guide that details how to unlock the Cameo character styles at MJ's Face-R-Us. Thanks to CaptRobau for the original guide here on Steam, which I organized, expanded, and cleaned up to have with the modpack.

Thank you for playing and enjoying my ModPack!
