wasps are just way way too valuable in their role as cavalry, my strategy for 90% of levels was basically to only use builders, titans, and wasps, only adding swarm mothers to my assortment for the final three levels.
the evolution that makes bugs deal damage on death combined with the wasp's 5 buggo ability is actually ridiculous for taking down command centers. wasps may be a bit pricier, but when im at a stalemate, i found that the ability to just rally 100 wasps on a cliff next to my battle line, and slam them into the enemy would break their formation most of the time, and a lot of the time, completely sweep up that flank of their army
In the end i used Wasps to break out and clear an area for more Traps to get some breathing room and focus on just one side and later on and use said Wasps to kill the rest of the map with the boom slug combo, never thought of using Traps before reading your guide so Cheers!
It helps of course that dropships don't drop inside your base anymore like before, at least they haven't done it a single time during my playthrough of the impossible difficulty
