LNER Thompson 'P3' 2-8-2

Beskrivning
LNER Thompson 'P3' 2-8-2

This mod was brought on by a bit of a discussion on Discord about an unstreamlined P2, so I created an admittedly unlikely thought experiment based on that, hence the P3 here. Enjoy!

Features

-LNER 'P3' in 6 liveries
-Liveries include LNER Black, LNER Green, LNER Wartime Black, BR Green, BR Blue and BR Black.
-Full aging and recolour support. Detailed dirt and rust accumulates as the engine ages.
-Engines are sorted in depot menus to reduce purchase menu clutter.
-Small file size and .dds compressed textures, to help with load speed.
-Placeable rail assets (also with lods) allowing placement of the full engine. Aged asset variants also included.
-Moddable engine numbers - edit the number of the train and the number will display on the side of the locomotive.

Specs

LNER P3 2-8-2 (all variants)
-Available from 1943 (additional liveries and variants will unlock over time)
-Available until 1966
Top Speed: 145 kph
Power: 2750kW
Tractive Effort: 205kN
Weight 169t

is that based off of something real or is that something madeup

I take my previous statement back. That looks more like an LNER V2 to me.

To the average british rail enthusiast, this just seems like a LNER A1(/1).

But then you look at the wheels and realise...

That is one H E C C I N G C H O N K E R :steamhappy:

Soooo, you basically combined the look of the p1, and the SPEED AND POWER, of the P2. TAKE ME MONEY.

I don't think anything would have changed Thompson's mind about what to do with the P2s, I think the best chance a P3 would have had would have been with Peppercorn

Love this, gives me that Henry vibe.

@FS I know, I meant that in its 1947 numbering scheme, the LNER had stated that numbers 1-999 were allocated to express engines of wheel configurations 4-6-2, 2-6-2 and 2-8-2, that's all.

@kevin_o-1986 it definitely wouldn't have been a possibility if nationalisation hadn't happened, nevermind that all of the Big 4 were flat broke after the war, the 2-8-2 wheel arrangement was one that didn't work out on the LNER, there is a reason the P1s were scrapped and the P2s were rebuilt into conventional Pacifics. Unless there was something drawn up, there's no chance of it existing in a theoretical "No BR" scenario.

Don't get me wrong, I like the mod and I'll be using it, but saying it was "a possibility" is simply not true.

Those smoke deflectors make me think we might be in for a Tornado in the near future..

Nice loco. Looking at how the LNER decided on its post-war numbering scheme, this could also have been a possibility if nationalisation hadn't happened.
