Introduction
This guide is the next iteration of my long overdue Ghost and Skulls guides. Hopefully this guide is complete enough for you to be able to easily do this free Perkaholic easter egg!

As with all Ghost N' Skull Easter Eggs in this game, there are a total of 6 skulls you will need to collect to power the machine. The guide is split sections for each individual skull so you can easily skip around the guide to whatever skull you're currently working on, However, you must do each skull in order.

Power Down Bug Workaround
There is a bug with Attack of the Radioactive Thing and Shaolin Shuffle where the Ghost 'N Skull machines on those maps will power down if you fail your first attempt at the game, not allowing you to power the machine back up for another attempt.

This is not intended and there luckily is a workaround (Special thanks to Mental Returd ♿ for bringing this workaround to my attention!)

Before you start the game, make sure to equip the "Skull Hacker" fortune card. This is one of the more rare cards, but if you have a few, this will help tremendously.

During the EE, once you get the machine up to 5 skull tokens, before you call the number to power the machine, pop the card to power the machine instead and go into the game.
Once you're in the game, quickly fail and get booted back out.

That's it, now you can actually power the machine by calling the phone number. and attempt the game as many times as possible without the machine bugging out and fully powering down. And this will still allow you to get the achievement.

Here's a quick video of me doing the work around before starting my attempts. (The video is Attack, but again, this same method works on Shaolin).

Skull One - Cleaning the Machine
To clean the machine and obtain the first skull, you'll need to collect a bottle of cleaning spray and a rag.

Each item has a total of 3 spots they can be found on the map

Spray Bottle
  • On the floor to the left of the Stage in the Heebee Geebees Bar

  • In the Disco Inferno on the base of one of the poles

  • Near the locker you open during the Main Quest Easter Egg

Rags
  • On the wooden platform above where Mule Munchies is

  • On the roof of the Disco Inferno to the left of the Magic Wheel Location on some pallets

  • On the left side of the Rat King's Throne on some Pizza boxes

Once you've collect both the rag and the spray bottle, take them to the machine located in the Disco Inferno and clean the machine.

Skull Two - Mahjong Tiles
After you've cleaned the Machine, you can make your way to the roof of the Disco Inferno and as you come out of the door, you'll notice a line of Mahjong tiles, with some missing. There are a total of 3 missing in the line, however there are FOUR tiles that spawn around the map in a multitude of spawns locations.

You'll want to find each tile and bring it to the line of tiles on the roof and fill in the gaps, with the last tile staying in your inventory. You can only hold one tile at a time, so it's going to be a lot of back and forth trips to the roof.

Unluckily, I can't seem to find any guides that have all of the locations for the tiles, so I'll try to compile a complete list here:

  • On the roof in the back left corner on a little red standing table.

  • In the sewers directly across from the Tuff' 'Nuff Perk machine in the corner on the ground.

  • In Heebee Geebee's in the side hallway on the red container.

  • In the Disco Inferno on the counter with the Pizza Box

  • In the Disco Inferno on one of the silver columns

  • In the VIP room near where the Skull Buster machine is on a small table

  • In Heebee Geebee's on the bar counter

  • On the roof across from the Black Cat Dojo right across from the Fast Travel door on a red box

  • On the pallets adjacent to the Blue Bolts machine

  • On a bench in the Subway where the Bang Bangs perk machine is

  • Outside the Disco Inferno on a table

Once you've found all 4 Mahjong Tiles, you'll want to enter your "hand" of mahjong tiles into this Calculator[riichi.tools] (I'm assuming most people don't know how to play Mahjong, I definitely have no idea so this eliminates having to guess and check).

https://riichi.tools/

If you get an error that says "Hand composition or winning tile is invalid" then you need to replace one of the tiles with the tile you have in your inventory.

Once you input all of the tiles into the tool, it will spit out a winning combination. You'll need to assemble the tiles in this order to complete the step.

Skull Three - Shooting 1972
After completing the Mahjong tiles, you'll need shoot at four different spots to draw out a number on some windows.

I would advise making sure you have some kind of accurate automatic weapon (in my game I used the RPR Evo).

For this, you're going to be "spelling" out 1972 into four different windows. You'll need to draw the number quickly as if you take too long it will fail and you'll have to wait till the next round to be able to attempt it again. You'll also fail if you shoot the incorrect panels on the windows.

(I was going to use GIFs here to show each number, but adding GIFs to Steam guides where the upload limit is 2MB is an absolute hell.)

Below is a video of the locations as well as me shooting out the numbers so you get an idea of where to shoot and how fast you have to do it. Once you've shot all 4 numbers, you've completed this skull.

Skull Four - Platforming on White Circles (Pain)
This skull is absolute hell to complete, atleast for someone like me who is awful at platforming.

However, you'll first want to get a Chi Ability to remove the Chi Door above where Racin Stripes is. Once removed, you'll notice a little white circle in the air. Jumping on this starts making more spawn in front of you and the goal is to jump to each circle as they spawn in. Once you get far enough, the 4th skull will spawn and you can jump into it to collect it.

BUT, if you fall off, then you'll fail and you wont be able to retry until the next round. All I can say, is good luck, you're going to need a lot of patience for this step.

Below is a video for reference, but the recording I don't grab the skull... I failed at the end. And I ended up getting it right after when I wasn't recording (Go figure...)

Skull Five - Jumping in front of the Train
Once you've grab the fourth skull, if you think the evilness of this easter egg was over, boy do I have a train for you.

You'll now need to sacrifice yourself to the train where Bang Bangs is... Yes, jump in front of the train to grab the skull that's on the front of it.

If you're playing solo, just make sure you have Up 'N Atoms before you do this.
Skull Six - Calling the Number on the Machine
NOTE: Before you start this step, please look at the section at the top called "Power Down Bug Workaround." While this is probably the easiest of the Ghost 'N Skulls games, this workaround will allow you to bypass a bug where the machine will permanently shut off if you fail the game the first time.

Now you'll need to use one of the Pay-phones in spawn and call the number on the left, 555-0152, by inputting the numbers in the phone.

Once you put all the numbers in, it will start to ring, you'll get a quick message and be pulled off the phone.

Now you'll be able to go to the Skull Buster machine in the Disco Inferno and start the game!

Playing Skull Buster
Skull Buster is the easiest of the Ghost N' Skull games in my opinion. So it shouldn't be too hard to complete.

However, in the case that you don't make it through and fail, you can always try again by redialing the phone number to re-obtain the sixth skull. Please refer to the section "Power Down Bug Workaround to avoid having the machine permanently power off

With that out of the way, there are a total of 3 frames that you need to get through. Each frame progressively gets bigger and each frame will reset any fails you got from the previous frame. However, getting three fails on one frame will kick you out of the machine.

You can go down during this, but its nothing to worry about as you get right back up.

How to Play
Each frame will have some visible colored skulls and have boxes with question marks on them. The goal is to make a line or a small L of 3 skulls of the same color, the catch is that you have to guess which color the skull is behind the question mark by entangling one of the colored cubes and shooting it at the question mark boxes.

If you guess incorrectly, that counts as a fail. However, if you guess correctly, the skull will be revealed.

Here is a video of me playing my way through the game for reference if you get confused by my explanation:

Once you clear all 3 frames, you're done with Skull Buster!!!
Rewards
For Skull Buster, you get a few rewards when completing it. (Note: The achievement doesn't unlock if you skip the quest by using a "Skull Hacker" Fortune Card)

  • All perks are given to the player and are permanent (except Up 'N Atoms in solo) for the rest of the game.
  • 1000 XP is granted to the player
  • The Achievement Coin-Op is unlocked upon first completion.

Also, uniquely, for Skull Buster, you are given an upgraded Magic Wheel. All weapons obtained from the Magic Wheel will be single PaP'd. The Magic wheel will also have this cool effect where the light turns green with skulls coming out of it!

Your guides have been very appreciated, on my journey to revisit this game- although this guide is missing a 12th Mahjong tile for Skull 2, on the car next to the Dojo. Putting the info here in case anyone else struggled like i did.

Found a method to jerry rig the bug so you can keep repeating skull buster as much as you want without only attempting it once a game.

You must have the "skull hacker" faf card equipped in your loadout (if you don't want to grind as much normally or use a mod menu you can follow this video:
https://youtu.be/zL9wVjMQYr0?si=RLyUNm1tIYACffrE
).

On the fifth skull before obtaining the last skull, activate "skull hacker". If you're playing with other players and care about losing the card force close the app , then join back. Enter the skull buster, fail it, then call the number for the last skull. If you fail it you can call the number again and you can reactivate it normally! And then you can reactivate it like how the devs intended!

NOTE: This also works on attack of the radioactive thing.
