A good substitute would be to swap Triphinx out for something with Dog Years, which will boost the timers to max over the course of a few turns, rather than slowly reapplying over the whole battle.
other very usefull tactic i've always gone for and is especially powerfull on angels is Leech and walls(there is a water/plant beast that is excelent on doing this without having the usual plant weaknesses to fire and stuff). believe me, i played most of the bosses doing this, and it worked wonders, even on the toughest encounters. the more the ennemy beast moves arround, the more it hurst itself.
