This guide will provide some basic direction and some clarification for all of the achievements in this game. The goal is to provide you with understanding and confidence that you will know how to go about obtaining each achievement once you start the game.

Basic Achievements
Quintet
"A group containing five members" - Perform a 5X chain
This achievement should come naturally. Just be sure to pick up the note symbols dropped by enemies.

Ensemble
"A group of people who perform instrumental or vocal music" - Perform a 10X chain
This achievement should come naturally. Just be sure to pick up the note symbols dropped by enemies.

Instrument
Equip a new weapon
After each level a random weapon will drop that you can buy and equip. The drops are totally random and it doesn't matter which audio file is used as far as getting rare drops.

Made it to Carnegie Hall
Upgrade a weapon to level 5
You will have to use Inspiration and Kudos to upgrade your weapons. They are earned based on your performance in levels.

Audition
Reach a score target
This will likely unlock on the first song you play without you even knowing this achievement exists.

Orchestra
"A large instrumental ensemble that contains sections of string, brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments" - Equip 4 different weapons simultaneously
Pretty obvious solution, just be sure to buy different weapons after beating songs.
Story Progression Achievements
Solo
Defeat the first boss

Niccolò Paganini: 24 Caprices for Solo Violin
Unlock Mezzo-piano difficulty

Beethoven: Sonata Op 106 "Hammerklavier"
Unlock Mezzo-forte difficulty

Samuel Barber: Cello Concerto in A minor (Op. 22)
Unlock Forte difficulty

György Ligeti: Étude Nr. 1 "Désordre"
Unlock Fortissimo difficulty

Opus I
"work" or "labour"; a number generally assigned by composers to an individual composition or set of compositions on publication, to help identify their works - Finish the game

These achievements will be unlocked as you progress through the "story." Bosses show up randomly in songs. They can show up in a song you already played (at least they did for me). Every time you beat a new set of 3 bosses you will unlock a new difficulty level. I began playing on the higher difficulties once they were unlocked, I don't know if that is necessary to meet the next set of bosses, but that is how I did it. Regardless, I recommend playing on the new difficulties as you unlock them as the game gets more fun on the higher difficulties and there really is no way to "lose."
Miscellaneous Advanced Achievements
Beethoven
Symphony No. 5 in C minor, Op. 67 (hint: 67 is the key)

Haydn

J.S. Bach

These 3 achievements require you to scan and play 67, 104, 244 songs. They need to be different audio files on your computer. If you find yourself needing more files, there are plenty of garage bands out there with websites where you can download free music. Also note the files don't HAVE to be songs. Any audio file with sound will work. You can even use free programs to make your own audio files (even if it is just you blowing into a microphone)

From my experience with this game: if you let the game scan a song, then you try to copy-paste-rename it, the game will not register it as a different song if you scan that "new" file..... However, if you copy-paste-rename a song file before you let the game scan it at all, it should scan them all as different songs, even though they are technically the same.

Also note you don't actually have to "play" the game. So you can play music through the game while doing something else and it will still count when you finish the level even if you got no score.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Crescendo
"A gradual increase in volume of a musical passage" - Find and equip the rare Charging weapon
Equip a Crescendo Furia weapon.

Staccato
"A note of shortened duration separated from the note that may follow by silence" - Find and equip the rare Sonic weapon
Equip a Subwoofer Furia weapon.

The weapon drops are random, but it seems that you get a new furia weapon every 20 songs or so. For me, the game did not drop a single dupe on me until I already had at least 1 furia type of each weapon.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Vexations
Play 840 minutes
14 hours of playtime with music playing. Sitting in the main menu doesn't count. You can however play long songs and go AFK if you find yourself having to grind this after completing everything else.

Tacet
"Silent; do not play" - Get 0% completion
Complete a song without destroying a single enemy. This can be a little more challenging that it sounds, because you have to be sure no enemy ships crash into you. I recommend playing a short, very soft song on the easiest difficulty; and after learning the pattern, you should be able to get it easily.
Star Ranking Achievements
Concertmaster
"Leader of the first violin section" - Reach the 4-bronze star rating on 10 songs

Conductor
"Leads a musical ensemble by way of visible gestures" - Reach the 4-Silver star rating on 10 songs

Maestro
"A title of extreme respect given to a master musician" - Reach the 4-gold star rating on 10 songs

You earn the different ratings by hitting the score "targets" in different difficulties. They do stack, as getting a 4-gold star rating in a song with also check off all the previous ratings once you get to the level completion screen. Hitting the highest score target on the highest difficulty can be difficult, so its recommended you play short, soft songs. Also take advantage of boss fights, as they drop a lot of "Inspiration," (read: points) and they should provide easy opportunities to get 4 star ratings.
Tiered Perfect Run Type Achievements
Sostenuto
"Sustained, lengthened" - Reach 30,000 points and finish without dying at the Piano difficulty

Con Brio
"With spirit / vigor" - Get 100% completion and over 30,000 points at the Piano difficulty

Acceso
"Ignited / on fire" - Perfect game (100% + no death) and over 30,000 points at the Piano difficulty

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Ostinato
"Obstinate, persistent; a short musical pattern that is repeated throughout an entire composition" - Reach 30,000 points and finish without dying at the Mezzo-forte difficulty

Bellicoso
"Warlike, bellicose, belligerent or combative" - Get 100% completion and over 30,000 points at the Mezzo-forte difficulty

Con Fuoco
"With fire / in a fiery manner" - Perfect game (100% + no death) and over 30,000 points at the Mezzo-forte difficulty

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Sempre
"Always" - Reach 30,000 points and finish without dying at the Fortissimo difficulty

Col Pugno
"Bang the piano with the fist" - Get 100% completion and over 30,000 points at the Fortissimo difficulty

Virtuoso
"Performing with exceptional ability, technique, or artistry" - Perfect game (100% + no death) and over 30,000 points at the Fortissimo difficulty

-----------------------------------------------------------------

The first 2 tiers of these achievements are actually not that hard to get... especially with strong, upgraded weapons and short, soft songs. The ones that require the Fortissimo difficulty are the hardest (really the only hard) achievements in the game. Without the right audio files they can be downright impossibru. The level generation seems entirely random, and it can be very hard to kill every enemy without letting them escape.

I recommend you find a song that is 90 seconds long (the minimum) and is very soft and simple and then I wish you luck. You can also use audio files that aren't "songs." Like, for example: ambient noise or with very little noise.

There are freeware programs that will let you create your own .mp3s where you can make files with very little sound. You still need 30,000 points so it can't have NO sound, as you need enough enemies to spawn; as such, I can tell you that this method can still prove pretty challenging so I wouldn't consider it "cheating" but you have to decide on your own if you want to use this method or not.

Thanks for the answer. Well, if the time played isn't a parameter, then i'm almost sure musics which last less than 3 to 3:30 will never have a demon. I did a lot of musics which last less than 3 min. and i never had any demon. Anyway, one page left o/. Nice musical/shooter game.

I am pretty sure the demons spawn every 3-5 songs you beat. They seem to just randomly spawn in a song once you are due for one. I am not sure if they won't spawn in a short song or if they will be spawn in any song.

I am pretty positive that: it goes by songs beaten, not time played.

Nice guide ;). I've just one question : Is there a way to get the demons faster ? For now i'm assuming it's random and the music must me at least 3 / 3:30 minutes long. But i played 6h and i only had 9 demons i think, or 10.

Thank you for answering. I unlocked Beethoven when I scanned and played about 20 songs, Haydn when I scanned and played about 30-33 songs. But before I played one song for 3-4 times. If this is as you said, then I would unlock Haydn after longer time than Beethoven.
