Enabling Loudness Equalization
You have to get to the sound control panel
you can do this by going into settings > system > sound > sound control panel

when you get there, click on your headphones and click properties. Find the enhancements tab and click "loudness equalization" and hit apply. This will make loud sounds more quiet, and quiet sounds more loud.

and boom.

If you don't see an enhancements tab
Go to device manager and go to the sounds tab

what you want to do is find the audio driver your headphones use, (probably named "realtek")
and you gotta uninstall it and check the box, then restart your computer.

Go back to device manager and click "update driver" then click "Browse my computer for driver software" and afterwards click "Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer".

Lastly click "Show compatible hardware" and then click "High definition audio device".

and then you should be good.

For those who don't see an enhancements tab it's likely your headphone drivers themselves have a setting for it. A couple examples would be if you have Steel Series or Razer (many other brands have it too) headphones. You'll want to open whichever app you downloaded when setting up your headphones, so SteelSeries GG for Steel Series headphones, Razer Synapse/Cortex (I believe) for Razer headsets, etc. For myself I own a Steel Series headset so I'd open SteelSeries GG > go to Sonar tab > Game > Scroll down and enable Smart Volume.

If your headset has an app like any of these DO NOT follow the steps to uninstall/update your drivers. Windows will install their default drivers and it could cause issues with audio depending on your headset. Update your drivers through their corresponding app. If you don't know what that is or don't have one but think you should try googling "Audio drivers for [headphone model/brand]" or "Do [headphone model/brand] have an app"

This is epic, I really had a hard time hearing the sound cues and couldn't even hear Plushtraps without turning it so high it would damage my ears with the headphones I'm using, better all around! Even so it's a little hard to hear his footsteps but I haven't been killed by him yet so lmao
