Tips and Tricks
First off. When joining a multiplayer match, spec your class. If the ship has 1 or 2 players already then pick Engineer. If it has 3 then pick Gunner. Just to be safe, most people pick Engi so its good to make sure you have a gunner in a full lobby.

You can reduce or avoid damage from warping by walking to the front of the ship in a long open area just as you hit warp. You can also use the respawn pods instead of a seat.

Energy weapons deal more damage to shields. Have the gunner use a kinetic weapon and have an engi strip the enemy shields with energy weapons for a fast kill on larger targets.

If an energy weapon has a battery slot, put a battery in as soon as you can, the boost is always good!

The Relentless Assault mods penalties don't apply on the Shuriken carronade.

Glowing points on enemy ships are weak spots, hit those for higher damage! Also fuel tanks, shoot those for big boom damage!

Some facilities have a section of 4 towers/fuel tanks, shoot those for free loot!

When exploring ruins etc. always check up in case there is an up tunnel to more loot, check inside the shipping containers with open doors too, there might be hidden loot.

Some facilities require 2 people to open, either with an airlock style door with a lever to open one and close the other, or with two hand panels far apart. You CAN do the hand panel with one person but it is tricky to get the hang of.

Always do side objectives first as the main quest objective will cause enemies to keep spawning almost all the time.

You can micromanage power over the limit, just reset every breaker as soon as they pop and you're safe.

If you have two power generators then boost one while the other one cools down.

Hold right mouse button to throw stuff, don't lug items around one by one, throw them!

If you have an upgrade kit, use it on ship default turrets or generators first as you cannot swap them with better ones, unless there is a specific build you're going for and don't need to upgrade those.

Don't turn on the O2 unless you're in an environmental warning like heat/cold and taking damage, This saves a power slot.

If you have guns that have a cooldown or heat bar then you should have an engi or yourself get into a jetpack at mission start and open both doors to an airlock. Vent atmosphere till it says around -130 -140ish then close the door quickly. This should leave the ship at -80 -90ish, perfect for extra cooling on guns. You can fine adjust as needed after that by closing the outer airlock, open then close the inner, then open the outer without pulling the depressurise lever to vent a smaller amount out. You can also turn the O2 on to bring it up from anywhere beyond -100 and turn it back off at -99 or warmer.

In an Interdiction if you can select the exit destination and pull the warp lever before the lady says you've been interdicted then there's a good chance you can avoid it.

It was originally a bug and not meant to happen but people liked it so it stayed in. Something to do with pre-existing mechanics for it in the engine they use and the turret heat being given the same coding mumbo jumbo [instert here] as the atmos

that's a neat trick.
The game logic doesn't make sense though since the guns are on the exterior of the ship... but if it works, it works!

"Don't turn on the O2 unless you're in an environmental warning like heat/cold and taking damage, if you have guns that have a cooldown or heat bar then empty atmosphere from an airlock till you reach -80 degrees C. This will lead to less heat per shot meaning longer sustained fire and potentially no need for a heat-sink mod, can use damage instead on t1s."
does this mean open the airlock and purge the interior of the ship?
