other info

there are multiple variants of these missiles modeled in Falcon BMS. i will only cover the Aim-9 variants due to the fact that they have the most differences from each other. the Aim-120 variants are almost the same so im not gonna dive into them

Aim-9P
Aim-9M
Aim-9X

Aim-120B
Aim-120C
The Aim-120 AMRAAM
The aim 120 AMRAAM is an active radar homing missile with a range of around 25 miles. this section will teach you how to fire them using 2 radar modes

1. set the master switch to arm
2. select AA mode on your ICP or use MRM override switch
3. use you antenna elevation knob to find the right elevation the target (try to scan from 0 to 35)
4. find your target on the radar (default left MFD)
5. move your RDR cursor over the target
6. lock the target by clicking TMS up
7. look the your HUD to ensure that your target is in range (for HUD symbology use the BMS manuals found in the docs folder)
8. press and hole the Pickle button to fire the missile

the standard way to fire an aim 120 AMRAAM is using the RWS radar mode this mode is more accurate but can only track one target at a time. if you have multiple targets try using TWS (track while scan) mode. you can access this mode with TMS right long and cycle through your targets using TMS right short. if you want to go back to RWS mode use TMS right long.

long and short mean either click or hold down... long= hold down short =click
The Aim-9 sidewinder
the Aim-9 sidewinder is an IR guided missile with a range of about 10 miles. there are 3 versions... the Aim-9P, the Aim-9M and the Aim-9X

The Aim-9P is a rear aspect IR missiles this means that its only meant to track a target from behind

The Aim-9M is an all aspect IR missile it can be fired from anywhere around a target that can lock targets in a 45 degree angle around it using you HMCS

The Aim-9X is the best of all the Aim-9s it is all aspect and can lock targets up to a 90 degree angle

the way to operate them is almost the same

1.master switch set to arm
2. you can lock using radar in AA mode or Dogfight mode
2a. AA mode use RDR cursor to lock target TMS up
2b. dogfight mode use AA radar step to turn on search TMS up
3. insure target in in range
4. set slave/ bore and or cage/uncage to the desired settings
5. launch missile with the pickle button
outro
this is not a stand alone guide... i strongly recommend you read the BMS training manual to better understand the topic but his guide will at least get you an idea

if you have any questions ask me in the comments and i will get back to you ASAP

hello, this guide worked great and let me fire my first missile
fun fact if anyone else wants to use this guide: there is a lock target on nose button (end, I think) and you can use that with A-A mode in lieu of step two
