Extract the music and sounds!

This guide will tell you how to get those pesky little .ogg files out from underneath the fingernails of those packed files. You might want something that can play or convert .ogg files and it involves a little work in command prompt.

Any questions, ask me. Translations, ask me, I have a bit of a network of friends.

Setting up
First, you'll need this[github.com] tool. It's a cmd prompt tool built for looking through files. Windows/Linux x86/64 builds are included but I assume you're using Win x64. If not, use the correct version for your system. As the file we're interacting with is less than 2GB, you can use either version, but if you ever plan on taking this to a file bigger than that, you'll want to use the x64 version.

With the tool you've got downloaded, return to the page I asked you to download it from. Scroll down and take a gander at the Options menu? Can you make heads or tails of it? If you can, cool, it's a little easier than most command line switch interfaces. If not, don't worry. Tom will help you.

Either way, extract the right folder to somewhere easy to get to.
Taking your tool out (steady on) for a spin.
Navigate to the folder you've extracted the version correct for your system to, and shift+right click and choose Open Command Window Here. This will open, hey presto, a command window, right at that directory! This is where things are gonna get really cool. But we're not ready yet. Set up a directory where you want to put all these delicious audiobites. Remember its location and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ TIME TO FREE HOX!

Sorry. Remember the folder's location. We'll call it <extractionpath>. Now browse to your Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae installation directory and find the file data0.kpk. Got it? We're calling it <pathtodata>.

Okay, now it's time for the magic. Bring that command window back into focus. What we're typing is as follows:

mediaextract -f ogg -o "<extractionpath>" "<pathtodata>"

And do be aware of those double commas surrounding each path. They let spaces work.

So for example, mine would be

mediaextract -f ogg -o "C:\Users\Myname\Music\Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae Rip" "K:\Steam\SteamApps\common\Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae\data0.kpk"

and yours, with one main drive, could be something like:
mediaextract -f ogg -o "C:\Users\Myname\Music\Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae Rip" "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae\data0.kpk"

However, that won't work. Blame admin priveledges. You'll need to copy it to somewhere that's not admin-protected. A good idea would be to copy it to your mediaextract folder. This would have the added benefit of meaning your <pathtodata> would be simply data0.kpk. No quotes. Just simply data0.kpk.
Let it run and do its business. Browse to the extracted folder, play and enjoy!

Using HyperRipper from Dragon UnPACKer works as well. And it has a GUI.

That whole 'type all the paths into the command window' step really isn't neccisary. I just copied data0.kpk to a different folder and dragged it onto mediaextract.exe and it extracted everything automatically.

I understand the concept of using command prompt but the tutorial doesn't explain with more detail, if you went to the website to download the mediaextract and extract the file, you just get a file and you have to figure out what to do next (even when visiting the website, it just says setting up, setting up what, I don't know), I even ran the file and it did nothing (I even opened command prompt to see if anything changed but nothing did). so can you explain things at the setting up part with a bit more detail, because I am sure that I am not the only one trying to get the from data0.kpk and failing to do so

I've sent you a friend request, Explain what you don't understand and I'll make it clear both to you in chat and here.

I'm not joking, at the exact time I was writing that sentence they posted the announcement that the heist was going live.

Thx for your comments though.
