How to Perfect Dodge
Dodge when the Orange/Red "X" appears. Simple as that. If that's not enough for you, read on.

The problem with perfect dodging in Chorus stems mainly from the fact that the game doesn't actually tell you how to do it, so after searching the internet, I finally figured out that I was dodging waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too early, and if you're having trouble, I'm guessing you're dodging too early as well.

A regular dodge is what you get when you dodge when the Orange/Red "Bubble" appears around your ship gets really small or disappears.

Here's the thing, there's a brief period of time, and I mean brief after the Orange/Red "Bubble" disappears, but BEFORE you get smacked with a laser. It's during this period of time that the Orange/Red "X" appears.

Dodge when you see that on your screen and congratulations, you've performed a perfect dodge.
Where to Practice Perfect Dodging
As a side note, I recommend ranking up the "Perfect Dodge" Rite during the "Trapped Troops" mission in Amarok (the object is to "Free Cpt. Aystan's Resistance Ships at Trom Shipyard"), as can be seen from the screenshots I used in this guide. The reason I consider this the best place to practice perfect dodging is that you get a checkpoint right before you go in, and the first (and only) enemy you encounter initially is a "Sniper Turret", which you can use to perfect dodge to your heart's content.

The fire rate on the "Sniper Turret" isn't that great, so your ship will have time to recharge its shields before it fires again, so you should get about 5 or 6 tries before you need to use a repair drone or you'll get blown up. That being said, since there's a checkpoint right before you go in (and your "Perfect Dodge" Rite progress is saved even if you die or reload from the last checkpoint), it doesn't really matter if you die!
Why bother perfect dodging?
The only real benefit to perfect dodging over regular dodging is that if you pull off a perfect dodge a couple bars of your Rite energy are restored (or overcharged if your Rite bar is already full). It's not worth the hassle in my opinion, but I leave that determination up to you.

I'm glad you liked it, and thanks for the extra info about the perfect dodge mechanic!

Hey, thanks for the great and detailed guide! :2016popsicle:
I noticed that you don't have to be dodging exactly at the moment the X shows (it can be done a tad earlier too) but its certainly a good thing to look out for. ;-)

Thanks, I appreciate that. It's my first guide, so it means a lot that it helped someone enough that they made a comment :)!
