Permanent fix for fatal error ERRO8 Memory Overrun DMC4 SE
By january
Permanently solve the fatal error ERRO8 Memory Overrun by using the 4GB Patch NTcore program on a compatible version of the DMC4 game. This will let the game run on 4GB of RAM instead of 2 which keeps making it crash

1 - Get older DMC4 version file
- Have Steam open
- Use Windows + R keys
- Enter steam://nav/console to open the Steam console

.......................................................

- In the console, enter download_depot 329050 329051 7950608430955718471

(this is the app ID, depot ID, and manifest ID from DMC4's SteamDB page using the syntax: download_depot <appid> <depotid> [<target manifestid>] [<delta manifestid>] [<depot flags filter>] : download a single depot)
https://steamdb.info/app/329050/

- Once you enter the command into Steam console, it should start downloading to the path written there

2 - Get the 4GB Patch NTcore program
source: https://ntcore.com/4gb-patch/

- download, check the hash, unzip
3 - Get step 1's DMC4 file in the game folder, and apply the patch
- Go to the file path where you download from the steam console, and replace the original DevilMayCrySpecialEdition.exe with the downloaded console one (just move the original one to some other folder)

.......................................................

- Now you can run the 4gb_patch.exe program, allow it to run, and select the DevilMayCrySpecialEdition.exe file

.......................................................

- You should now be able to run the game without the fatal memory occurring! Hope this helped.

- Note: If you ever want to reverse the process, just verify the game files integrity

I was able to download and unzip the file, placed it in the correct file, ran the program and selected the right exe, and pressed the green play button from the steam app. I still encountered the memory overrun error even earlier than before i downloaded the fix. Any help would be greatly appreciated

@Pan Vertical

For this guide, I was in a situation where I could boot up the game and play normally for a few missions before I started to get the Memory Overrun error - so this guide is a fast and direct fix for that.

If you're getting a startup error (I had the same situation on another device), then I highly suggest you follow this guide -> https://test-steamproxy.haloskins.io/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3370289539 and apply the 4GB Patch NTcore program onto the resulting DevilMayCrySpecialEdition.exe file you get from that guide.

If I were in your place, to avoid any potential problems, I would put back the original DevilMayCrySpecialEdition.exe from the 3rd step of this guide , or 'Verify the Integrity of the game files' for a simple way to revert , and then only follow the steps of the guide: https://test-steamproxy.haloskins.io/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3370289539
