Calculation Sheet for train mass and length
By pat
This is a small EXCEL file to help calculate performance data for trains in Derail Valley.

It will automatically calculate the tractive effort available with the set locomotives. Further it will calculate the train length and weight to be pulled as well as give a warning when the dead train weight will outweigh the available tractive effort for a 2% gradient for dry and wet conditions.
These calculations are based on the data of the ingame booklet.

How to use:

All yellow areas are for entrys by the player. Most fields can be selected by use of drop down menus.

In the middle area up to 5 locomotives can be assigned. Left of the locomotives they can be selected as either powered on or off. If powered on "Yes", they will be added to the tractive effort and train length. If powered "No", they will be added to train length and weight.

In the bottom area up to ten jobs can be entered. Left to the job number each job can be selected as either coupled or uncoupled. This is a quick way to remove a job from the weight and length calculations after uncoupling at the destination. However it is kept for payout calculation.
The track will be highlighted when it is not available at the selected station.

Very nice....a suggestion....What about adding in the work trains such as the caboose which are not engines? They add mass to the train but no power.
