Programming a Money Counter
Screen

All the screens are identical. It is important to be able to understand the output you are selecting.

  • Top Left: Stack Count
  • Top Right: Currency & Denomination Selections
  • Middle Right: Current Stack Count on the Output
  • Bottom Right: Total Stack Worth

Stack Count
  • The default is 100 bills which is the max stack size. The first Money Counter is the only one where you cannot alter this. The other counters have the ability to do 100, 50, 20, 10, and blank counts.

  • Selecting the stack count is convenient if you want to use partial bundles to complete requests. (IE: Request for $5,000. Fulfilled with two 100-count $20 bundles [$4,000] and one 50-count $20 bundle [$1,000].)

  • The blank count is special. When the blank is selected, if the stack reaches the max (100 bills) then the money counter will continuously spit out bills regardless of currency, denomination, and selections. To continue sorting for the selected currency and denomination you must clear the output. This function is not very useful on the intermediate money counters, but is very important for the XXL.

Buttons

The buttons function the same, but the lower tier counters have less functions.

Combinations and Results

I will focus on the programming of the XXL in this section as the preceeding money counters are fairly straightforward.

Sorting by Denomination

This is the most common sorting done in the game. Like the lesser tiers, the XXL can easily do this with the added bonus of being able to do this with any combination of currency and denomination x3. Just make sure you select a stack count other than blank. If you choose blank then the combination you selected will also be ejected if it's output gets full.

Sorting by Currency

If you have a pile of money that is mixed currency, you can program the XXL to sort only based on currencies ( $, €, and ¥ ). The following programming is for the extreme example of if your pile has all three.

  1. Set each screen to a different currency, $, €, and ¥.
  2. Set each screen to blank denomination.
  3. Set each screen to 100 count.
  4. Load the input and press Start.
This configuration will output each currency type regardless of denomination. Setting all the screens to 100 count means that if one output reaches max, the machine will stop and wait for the maxed output to be cleared before starting to sort again. This eliminates the machine spitting anything out (except counterfeits).

Sorting and Bundling a Single Bill Type

Use this configuration if you have a large pile of the same bills (IE: all $10) and you want to quickly get them stacked and taped.

  1. Set each screen to the same currency and denomination.
  2. Set the left and middle screens to blank count.
  3. Set the right screen to 100 count.
  4. Load the input and press Start.
Setting the money counter in this way allows it to work from left-to-right. The blank count setting tells the machine to "not stop" and therefore it will "spill over" to the next output. The right-most being set to 100 count gives the machine a stopping point so that it does not spit out any bills. You will have to wait until the machine stops before you can push the Pack button to tape the bundles. Since all three outputs are finished, you can quickly hit all three Pack buttons and grab the bundles off the machine into one handful. You can also push the Pack button with bundles currently in hand. A completely full XXL will result in 10 bundles before you have to load it again.

Marked Money
UV Symbols

These marks require a UV light source and for the room to be dark in order to be seen. All currency types can have any of these marks.

(**The chart for Marked Money is currently only available in the experimental branch. Also, it has the "splattered" mark labeled as UNKNOWN but the Marked Bills Sorter screen labels it as Bank Blots**)

Marked Money Sorter

Marked Bills Sorter [**EXPERIMENTAL BRANCH**]

The Marked Bills Sorter does not have a built in UV light, so it is suggested that you keep one near the machine. The interface is very simple to program, but it does require you run the same pile of money through the machine multiple times in order to fully separate the different markings. Although gang bills have 3 different symbols, they all end up in the same pile.

To make sorting faster, start with the ALL selection to separate the marked bills from unmarked bills. This will ensure you have a smaller pile to run through the machine as the ejected unmarked bills will be removed from the sorting process.

If you have the crypto to spare, you could purchase multiple Marked Bills Sorters and align the ejected bills to land in the next sorter. Almost automating the process.

Money Tips
Faster Bundling on the Machines

While holding a roll of tape, you can click on piles to bundle them on the machine. This way causes them to drop off the front and the machine will start counting again. If you are really good at placing objects you can position the counting machine at the edge of a table so the bundles fall to the floor or into a container.

Reading Bundles at a Glance

Bundles are color-coded. If the bundle is purely a single currency denomination, the tape will be a colored stripe. Any mix of currency or denomination then the bundles will have white striped tape. This is regardless of how many bills are in the stack.

Feeding the Pig All Currencies

It is recommended that you keep all marked and counterfeit bills. However, inked is highly recommended for feeding the pig. You can feed the pig any denomination and currency.
Yen converts to:
  • ¥10,000 = $100
  • ¥5,000 = $50
  • ¥1,000 = $10

Money Conditions

The different effects also have different levels. Dirty, inked, and wet are also "contagious" and will spread to clean money if mixed.

It is recommended to wash and dry dirty money, but inked takes a lot of effort and should be fed to the pig, used for missions where the recipient does not care, or burned. In any case, always keep inked isolated.

To prevent inked bills, always cut bank bags open with a knife. This circumvents the security device in the bag from popping!

Conditions:
  • Dry and Clean
  • Dirty - brown
  • Inked - blueish-violet
  • Wet - dark, grey, and shiny

@SidBangBang :

Hey,
May i kindly ask for your permission to translate your guide into my language and use your images?

Thank you in advance!

@JimmyYYK if the inked bills come in a bank bag (tall, slim and pops blue when opened) then you should be using a knife to cut it open instead of E. this prevents the money from getting inked in the first place.

I will add a note about using the knife to the guide - Money Conditions section.

I think if you shoot all inked cash into the piggy bank it is possible to get into a situation where you will not be able to fulfill any orders on hand.

Right now a lot of my orders sent me inked cash and want non-inked cash back. Because I refuse to clean any inked cash by hand, now I am kind of "stuck" , as in I do not have enough non-inked cash to fulfill any orders on hand. And if I do not fulfill current orders, I cannot get new ones.

Only way out seems to be to abandon orders and take rep loss.

It maybe rng based.

Practically perfect guide. Thank you! :steamhappy:

@Lakramir agreed! if you can chain three XXLs to eject one output to the next input and the last one is dollars, you can just automate the whole thing almost. just have to run around clearing the outputs and have a container or palette at the end the catch the extra dollar denomination that doesn't get a dedicated slot

also, the devs said they were adding the Yen counter  can't wait! will def update guide when that and the marked bill sorting happens

i want an extra YEN Counter :steamsad: its way faster to sort out wrong Currency's using the "Wrong" Counter :steamhappy:

@Throsbi I'm the same way. truthfully, i snack while waiting for my XXL so it's nice to just use one hand on the mouse lol

I prefer using machine pack button and picking up packs while holding same pack in hands. This way you can hold up to 1 bundle of stacks of each currency in your pocket/purse
