🧬 Once Human – Beginner Guide: How to Not Die Instantly (And Why You're Seeing Stars)

Welcome to Once Human, a survival game where:

- The world is ending
- The sky is melting
- You’re fighting mutant deer, giant alien eyes, and possibly yourself

This guide is your lifeline to surviving early-game, upgrading smart, and not losing your sanity. Literally.

🧍‍♂️ Step 1: So What Are You?

You’re a Meta-Human — a slightly mutated human who can manipulate Stardust without turning into a spaghetti monster.

- Choose your appearance
- Pick your starting scenario (choose “Manibus” if unsure — it's beginner friendly)
- Enjoy the first few minutes where nothing tries to kill you. That ends soon.

Tip: Your sanity bar is real. Ignore it = hello chaos.

🔫 Step 2: Loot. Craft. Survive.

Welcome to tutorial hell. Here's what you need to do:

- Gather materials (wood, stone, fiber, your hopes)
- Craft basic tools
- Slap together a base
- Get a ranged weapon ASAP — melee = pain
- Watch your thirst, hunger, and sanity (eat food, drink water, sleep or craft sanity-restoring items)

Big tip: Don’t build in the open. You’ll get absolutely stomped by Deviants or other players.

🏕️ Step 3: Build a Base (It Won’t Be Pretty, but It’s Yours)

- Use the Base Core item to claim land
- Place walls, doors, storage, crafting benches
- Prioritize a bed, storage chest, and campfire for early survival
- Upgrade your Core to unlock more space and features

Tip: Your base can be moved to a different zone if needed. Mobile bunker = tactical flexibility.

💀 Step 4: Combat Is Weird (But Satisfying)

Enemies include:

- Mutant deer
- Crawling horror blobs
- Sentient floating eyeballs
- Possibly your neighbor who just PvP'd you with a toaster rifle

You need:

- A decent gun (bow → pistol → rifle)
- Ammo (you will forget this)
- Stamina awareness — dodge/roll like your life depends on it (because it does)

Tip: Watch out for Monolith bosses. Cool as hell. Deadly as heck.

🔧 Step 5: The Stardust System = Your Best Friend & Worst Nightmare

Stardust is what powers Meta-Humans and all the weird tech in the game. It lets you:

- Upgrade your gear
- Unlock Reality Augments (special perks)
- Craft insane sci-fi weapons

But it also:

- Corrupts people
- Creates monsters
- Slowly drives you insane

Tip: Craft sanity-restoring gear early on. Or hallucinations will become your primary enemy.

🧠 Tips from Someone Who Regrets Everything:

  • Use fast travel sparingly — it consumes special resources
  • Explore Silos for loot & lore
  • Get a mount (bike or beast) ASAP to travel safer
  • Repair your gear often — don’t get caught with a broken gun
  • PvP mode = high risk, high reward. Bring friends or accept death
  • Join a clan if possible — team bonuses & backup help a LOT

📦 Daily Loop Breakdown:

- Loot / gather / craft
- Hunt Deviants or do missions
- Upgrade base
- Escape Monolith bosses
- Wonder if the floating trees are real
- Sleep (in-game and IRL)

🎯 Final Words:

Once Human is part survival, part looter-shooter, part cosmic horror.
And if you take your time, build smart, and don’t eat sketchy mushrooms — you might just thrive.

Good luck, Meta-Human. Don’t lose your mind out there. Or do. That’s content too.

“You are no longer human. But at least you have a gun.”
