Your suggestion is an alternative to item 6 (Open Local Map Key plus Toggle) in the UI section.
The reason why I chose the key binder mod instead of your suggestion is because the key binder option allows you to open both local and global maps by pressing either the N or M key respectively, which basically means that you have more control over the map. In addition - you can quickly switch between maps by pressing N when map is already opened, so you don't have to zoom in once you're on the global map.
But I guess it's a matter of taste.
Nevertheless, these two mods will probably conflict between each other, so I don't think I should list both in the guide.

I'm trying to finish the game completely stock but this one QoL mod is temping me something fierce. It fixes you having to open the map and then zoom in to the local level map to see where you need to go next.
