The Boss

<- Getting sauced by this idiot?

Well, I was too, once upon a time. He's no pushover even with the nerfs.

Lei Heng is a complex and layered boss fight, he has a million passives and many powerful attacks. Here’s a guide to help beat him.
1.Removing Stagger
On turn one he’ll be very overleveled and destroy your team, use this opportunity to make him stagger all of your important sinners.
This is because when turn two comes around and Durante is used all your sinners will get healed to full and this gets rid of your stagger bars for free.
This will help a lot since you'll take a lot of damage as the fight progresses.
2.Resistances
<- Annoying

Bring slash resist ids, Lei Heng sets your sinner’s slash resist to weak (1.5) when he clashes with them, but this doesn’t apply to the sinners hit by his aoes. Gluttony, Envy and Wrath resists are also good.

Lei Heng is also weak to Gluttony and Envy
3.Prey and Ego Resource Farming

The Prey debuff applies to the sinner who deals the most damage to Lei Heng on the last turn. The debuff gives -5 clash power and decreases damage dealt by 50%. That is, unless you use a defensive skill which makes them take -75% damage from attacks instead. If the sinner with Prey gets staggered or killed, your entire team loses sp and clash power on the next turn, don’t let this happen.

For ego spammers, if you have a good chance to win a clash with the sinner that has Prey, do so, as you gain extra ego resources if you win. Hong lu himself also has a passive that gives him extra ego resources.

4.Skill rotations, SP and Bullet Management
Lei Heng has a skill rotation starting from turn 3, in which he’ll use regular skills for two turns and then use one of his aoe wrath skills for the next turn. This means he'll always use his aoes on turns 5, 8, 11, 14, and so on. Remember this when you are close to staggering him as his turn with the aoe also removes stagger.

He also has a bullet mechanic starting from turn 3, and uses them for skills.

In his normal skill turns he’ll use two pride skills, two envy skills, one gloom counter and one gluttony skill with three unbreakable coins.

This is the most dangerous attack here, as it can deal significant damage and burn. The gluttony skill targets the sinner marked with Prey, but can be clashed regardless of speed. Dodging or winning clashes against his other skills also spends ammo. This means that you can clash the gluttony skill with the slowest sinner and waste his ammo by winning or dodging the other skills.

Without any ammo the gluttony skill deals less damage and inflicts no burn. You can also dodge the skill if you wish.

Do note that he'll always reload in time for the big aoes so you'll have to deal with the burn then.

As an SP boss, Lei Heng’s rolls are smaller but can be difficult to deal with if he has high sp. Use sinking or win clashes to lower his sp. (His counter used to give sp before the nerf but that doesn’t apply anymore) He also loses a chunk of sp when you win vs the gluttony skill. Keep his sanity low as his panic effect is useless and he can regain it very quickly.

Another reminder is that Lei Heng gains final power depending on how many debuffs you have, thus its best to manage them until your sanity is high enough.
5.Why Does He Do SO MUCH DAMAGE
Here’s the big one. Remember when he uses the 6 unbreakable coin wrath skill, where you won the clash and yet your team gets wiped anyway?

Well, turns out the boss has multiple ways of dealing extra damage that stack up insanely fast.

1. Lei Heng deals +20% damage increase if the coin of the skill uses bullets and gets another +30% damage and inflicts fragile on unopposed attacks. Remember that units hit by the aoe count as an unopposed attack. Make everyone but the clasher use a defensive skill to negate this.

2. Lei Heng has a tier two ammo in Savage Tigermark Round that he employs as the fight goes on. He gets 18 of them when he reaches 60% HP or uses the one coin wrath skill for the second time and summons two minions to resupply when he runs out. He can have only six ammo in his chamber in one turn, meaning that the same process of wasting his ammo also apply here.

This ammo deals +30% damage on the coins this skill is used and doubles the burn and tremor inflicted. Potency is the ammo in the current turn and count is his ammo he has in his spare. Meaning that he'll spend at most 6 rounds every turn.

Your job is to manage the tier two bullets so that Lei Heng doesn't have them by his next nuke.

<- Minion Passive

The minions resupply him 6 Savage Tigermark Rounds each if they aren't killed at turn end. There are two circumstances of when they’ll appear.

First is during a normal skill turn in which you should try to nuke them down. The minions have 5 fragile for the turn so they are pretty squishy and you don't want Lei Heng to get the special ammo when he gets his nuke skill. Killing them also debuffs their boss.

The second is when they appear during the nuke phase, in which you either apply bind the turn before and kill them before the boss moves or ignore them, as you can waste the ammo in the subsequent, less dangerous turns and make sure he doesn't have them by the next nuke.

3. Lei Hung gets Inner Strength as he clashes with sinners, but will only keep them if he wins the clash, he also gains stacks if he hits you with an unopposed attack. These stacks are used for his nuke turns, giving him final power depending on the debuffs of the clasher and attack weight, as well as haste on the next turn.

At 60% HP, it's replaced with a stronger version that also gives coin power to the 6 coined nuke. Win clashes, and don’t take too many attacks.

4. All of those pale in comparison however, to the passive tied to Lei Heng’s speed.

This is THE most important passive and the key to winning this fight, everything above comes second to this.

Not only does he heal sp every turn depending on how fast he is, he also gets up to FIVE slash power up at 15+ speed. Since he gets unholy fast when using the six coiner, that is +50% damage and probably the reason your team’s getting nuked. It doesn't help that Lei Heng gains up to +20% more damage depending on how fast he is compared to your sinners.

But, this can all be prevented with bind, 3+ bind to be exact.

Snagharpoon and Chains of Others are your best friends, as everyone has them. Hit him with any of those egos the turn before the nuke and you will remove a bunch of damage.

If you have her, use Roseate Desire Ishmael as she provides a large and consistent source of bind as long as you can keep winning clashes with her.
6.A Race to the Finish
As the boss gets lower he starts gaining more and more passive damage, heals more sp and his skills start getting unbreakable coins.

At this point it is a dps race to see who falls first. You only need to get him to about 800 hp to win. Just remember that he gets Overheat the turn after he uses a nuke skill which gives clash power down and fragile equal to the times that he uses the nukes. Use these as a semi stagger and pile on the damage.

Ryoshu also helps with this as she gets a passive that gives her more damage over time.

If you don't think you can kill him then, prepare for the next rotation, use healing ego, build resources, kill the grunts and save your most powerful skills for the large aoe turn or the one after that.
TLDR
Inflict bind every three turns before he does the nuke (or just spam it). Use defense skills on everyone who isn’t clashing during his nuke. Get ego resources from winning clashes with prey mark or with hong lu. Clash with his gluttony skill on the slowest sinner (that doesn’t have Prey mark). Keep his sp down. Pile damage on him after he does his wrath skill, especially when he’s on low hp.

Please tell me if there’s anything I missed or got wrong. Good luck, and glory to Project Moon!

Honestly, I did mention this in some thread some while ago, but honestly, the best ego to use here is funnily enough, chain of others (Meursault base ego).

Meursault base ego does 2 things very reliably: Attack power down and binds

The binds removes the one dangerous passive effect for the turn, and the attack power down reduce your clash power needed to win (Rodion base ego can just clash and win against it) as well as literally removing some power directly from the unbreakable coins itself AND because its a base ego, you dont even need that much sanity to be worrying the future turns. And its hella cheap, even.

Obviously consistent bind is just good for reducing damage for every other turn that isn't the nuke, but chains of others just dominate the damage taken when used at turns before the nuke that is 6 unbreakable coins which is what really takes the spot for murdering runs anyway (when everyone is staggered, you spiral downward and etc).

The 3 tanglecleaver are at :turn 5,turn8, turn 11 if you dont get them to the threashold, if u feel like this is the run then use durante pigitia on the powered up tanglecleaver which make him go from 15 to 7 speed, then do not panic him as he will reset sp the turn after + heal sp willl be at 45 in an instant even with bind

1: He will always reload at the start of the next turn

2: That is something you'll need to juggle, because you don't want another 30% on the boss's strongest skill

Two questions - 1. Ammo management. His counter skill includes reload. Before special ammo, that means either don't clash it or clash it first, correct? Otherwise the gluttony skill will still have ammo to inflict burn. But no matter what he always starts a turn with 6 ammo, and this is not tied to the counter skill at all, yes?

2. Damage done to the henchmen does not stick, and they can't be permanently killed. Yes? So if they can't be killed in the turn they appear there's no point in trying to damage them. He still has 6 moves when they appear so the only way I see to kill them is to take the hits or spam AoE ego.

Best EGO in this fight is Roseate Desire. It's passive will make him bind himself into oblivion every single turn as long as Ish wins her clashes.

I kind of want to go back and try for a cleaner win at this, but at the same time, I'm not sure I want to expose myself to it.
Didn't really know what I was doing, so had virtually no healing, kept getting hit by full power nuke, and only won because Dimension Shredder kept Hong Lu alive one turn longer.

i take it i gotta spam bind every 2 turns then?
KO SMACK  [author] 30 May @ 3:42pm
