Unlocking your Office!

So you've just gotten into your office. Either you've already been out on your first task, or several, or none, and now you see your office. What you also see is a door. The Exit. You don't care for the Exit, so you see another door. It's locked. Another door behind some lockers is also locked. Another door within one of the doors are also locked. Want to spend less than forever to try the combinations to open? Heck yes, you do.

The Unlocking
Now, this is where the funny part begins. There's a total of 3 doors you need to unlock. The first door is obvious and stares right at you in your office. The second door is hidden behind some lockers in your back room. The third door is hidden within one of the other locked doors.

The 2 doors you can reach from your office requires a four digit code. The door within the door is a 17 digit code.

What you need to know first of all about these codes is this; When you punch the correct digit at its correct spot in the panel, there will be a faint clicking sound - But easier yet to spot, is that the screen flashes oddly white at the same time. This lasts very short, so try not to blink when trying to find the code. I would've brought a screenshot of a flash in session, but I've already done the codes, so I am afraid I can not.

"Why not just tell us the damn passwords?" - Well, they're different from one user to another, that's why.

So, now to the work. You will want to have a pen and paper. Maybe not for the first two doors with 4 digit codes, but you will want that for the 17 digit door. Write the following on your paper;

0 -
1 -
2 -
3 -
4 -
5 -
6 -
7 -
8 -
9 -

Now what you want to do is to click each of the digits on the panels 4 or 17 times, depending on the door, and each time it flashes - You will write the timing of the flash (For instance, 10), at the correct digit (For instance, 5). Here's an example of how my list for the 17 digit door looked like (I didn't need to write down the 4 digits, because easy.)

0 - 2, 8, 13
1 -
2 - 3, 16
3 - 6, 17
4 -
5 - 4, 11
6 - 1, 7, 9, 10, 12, 14
7- 5
8 -
9 - 15

So what you see here is me having clicked each digit 17 times, and written down at what beep the screen flashed / clicked. That's the easiest way I can think of right now. Once you've got all your digits, you will look at your paper and see what numbers goes where.

Excellent question! Tried that the first time, and agony ensued. Why? Because when you enter the last digit, the code resets immediately if it's wrong. That means once you've successfully done 16 digits and click wrong on the 17th, you will be back at square one and probably don't remember even the 3 first digits you had correct.

(Edit; The alternative route to get the 17-digit code does work, if you write down the numbers as you go. But it's much slower than just tapping each digit 17 times to find out which order they're in, instead of hitting 1, backspace, 2, backspace, 3, backspace ... , etc until you get your 'click' / 'flash'. I've retried this just to check, and my initially described method is still faster. You could also just use Notepad instead of pen and paper, but pen and paper saves you from alt-tabbing.)

So lesson is; Click each digit 4 or 17 times, depending on which door, and write down when it flashes / clicks. If you didn't fully get if it flashed or click, just backspace and try again. Once you've successfully opened the door, you need to actually click the icon of the door on the right side of the panel. You can also close it by clicking it again.


Hope you got past your doors! I will not say what's behind the doors, just in case people don't want to know. If anyone do say what's behind them in the comments of this guide, I will - if able - remove them ASAP. Because some people don't like spoilers, even in simple games such as this. End of.

Steam's Notes feature of the in-game overlay works great for this, you can pin it to show while playing for east reference.

Yeah the pen and paper solution can be done in less than 5 minutes, it's pretty simple :D Glad you got it figured out.

As the guide says, if you got past the first three paragraphs, "They're different from one user to another". It's "client-side", as it were, although someone did mention quite some time ago that there's a file in the gamefiles that contain the code, but I don't remember or care to do it that way.
