Optimal Controls
Having good and easy to use controls is very important. Here are my key bindings that I find very effective in game:

W: Move Forward

A: Move Left

S: Move Back

D: Move Right

Space: Jump

Left Click: Fire

Right Click: Aim

X: Crouch (Hold)

Z Crouch (Toggle)

Alt: Walk

G: Grenade

Other controls may work for you, but these ones work very well for me.

Team Communication
Communicate with your team!

Communicating with your team is a very important thing in all gamemodes (with the exception of Deathmatch) and your team will appreciate you calling out that you saw someone running up your flank, or going for your castle, or whatever. Protecting your team is always a good thing and it marks you as a skilled, valuable player.

Movement
Movement!

Yes, movement. You need to know how to move tactically and strategically so you don't get shot. A good way to do this is either by walking or crouching. I prefer crouching, as I find it a little faster than walking PLUS you are making a smaller target. You should always look for potential cover, and never spend too much time in the open. Before crossing into a dangerous area, you should know where you are going to run to if the bullets start flying.
Aim
Aim!

You need to learn how to aim. The default button is [Right Click]. Please note that there are no bullet ballistics in this game. Bullets have no travel time and don't drop. If you are using the Rifle or the Sniper Rifle, you need to be a good shot. If you're using the AK-47, MP5 or M240... Not so much. Just point and shoot.

Tip: If you have aim on someone but they run into cover, don't direct all of your attention to them. Keep your aim drawn close to their cover and try to anticipate where they will come out. Also, listen for people running near you. The last thing you want is to have someone pinned down behind cover and then have someone kill you then steal your kill!
Grenades
Grenades!

Grenades are a big part of the game. They are explosive, deadly and most importantly, easy to replenish. You can equip grenades in your loadout. In the battlefield, you can scroll to it, press [3] or you can use the hotkey [G]. Make sure you give your grenades lots of height, as they don't roll very well and may fall short. You learn how to effectively throw grenades as you play the game.

Tip: Grenades are useful for various things. You can throw them behind enemy cover, throw them onto high ledges, throw them randomly, or you can use them tactically. How you do this is simple;

If someone is looking at you or even running at you, throw a grenade behind them, then start shooting at them. They have two choices: Return fire, or retreat and get killed by your grenade!

Sniping
Sniping in this game is hard, and takes lots of practice. Unless you are one of those people who is just naturally good at sniping in any game, you may want to work on your aim with the Rifle before picking up a Sniper Rifle. When you are ready to start sniping, follow these tips:

- Camping Is Good: Contrary to popular belief, camping is a good thing to do when sniping. Running around with a sniper trying for 'quickscopes' is a surefire way to get your head shot off. Choose a hiding place that is inconspicuous and not too obvious. A high tower overlooking the whole map is a very good sniping spot (like the sniping tower in the map Medieval Hell) but this is the first place enemies will look and places like these are often destroyed halfway through the match to prevent snipers from using them.

- Be Smarter Than Your Target: Be smarter than your target. Anticipate their next move. Look for places that they might use for cover. If you can't get a shot in before they move to cover, don't fret. They could peek, or they could run, so be ready for them.

- Have A Plan To Kill Everyone You Meet: Yes, as our favorite Australian sniper once said. It's great advice. Thinking ahead on how you are going to kill someone will give you an advantage, especially if there are multiple targets.

- Watch Your Back: When sniping, it's always a good idea to watch your back. This goes for when you are using other weapons too, but particularly when sniping. When using the Sniper Rifle I advise against using grenades. Instead I reccomend either claymores or C4 charges. When sitting in a good spot, you don't want someone sneaking up on you. Please a claymore behind you a safe distance away and sit back and snipe. When using C4, it takes the relaxation out of it, but C4 has just as much (if not, more) explosive power as the claymore, but you must detonate it manually. You have two options on how to detonate C4:

The traditional way; the detonator. Not really that fun, but still satisfying.

Hollywood Style: If you are ever lucky enough to get in a position to pull off this classic move, do it. This move consists of placing a C4 charge very far away, maybe halfway across the map, in an optimal location. You must sit back with a Sniper Rifle and when someone comes running by, shoot the C4. This move is very risky, but extremely satisfying.
Weapon Loadouts
Obviously you should use the weapon loadout that works for you. But, in case you're new, I'll list off some loadouts, and their pros and cons.

Sniper + Uzi + Grenade

My loadout. Sniper makes for great ranged combat, and the uzi is helpful with dealing with foes at close-mid range. the grenades are great if you just can't seem to hit the guy holed up in a bunker, or if your enemy is in a hard to reach area.

Shotgun + Pistol + C4

Not a great class unless you're fine with mostly camping. The shotgun does give you speed, and isn;t great at range, but does great point blank damage. The pistol is good for dealing with enemies out of the shotgun's range, and the C4 is good for destroying enemy fortifications. the shotgun will help you reach them, but will do you no good against a rifle at range. Best used in small maps.

AK-47 + Pistol + Grenade

A generic, all purpose loadout used and adored by many. the AK is good at most ranges and it's fire rate will help you out greatly against a rifle, especially at mid range. The pistol in this case is mostly for if you run out of ammo on your AK and you need to finish the guy off. The grenades are used as they usually are, to toss into bunkers, things like that.

MP5 + Shorty 12 G + Grenade

A relatively short ranged loadout. The MP5 isn;t good for much other than spraying. It yields little accuracy at range, and the Shorty makes for a great point blank sidearm if you're in a tunnel or a small room.

Rifle + Uzi + Rocket Launcher

A loadout seldom seen, but still used. The rifle's range and semi automatic fire rate make it a great versitile weapon for picking at people. the uzi is great for finishing people off due to its high fire rate, and the rocket launcher is great for destroying enemy fortifications at range. You are pretty slow if you go this way though, so make sure you have decent cover before engaging.

M240 + Pistol + Grenade

A great class for sitting in a bunker and ripping into people as they walk by. This loadout allows for half decen movement speed, making walking around a bit less of a pain. Teh M240's insane rate of fire makes it great for close-mid range combat. With it, you can easily outgun AKs and rifles, but wil fall victim to a sniper in open ground very easily. You are also susceptible to grenades in open ground due to your low speed. Make sure to try and stay out of open areas as much as you can. Use the pistol when enemies retreat beyond your range.

Rifle + Pistol + Grenade. Allows for a more forward attacking style with the semi auto rifle

another class suggestion:

Try-hard: Shotgun-Pistol-Grenade

This class is basically centred around using the Shotgun for med ranges, and the knife for close range. The speed of the shotgun and pistol and grenade combo allows you to run at people knifing them, and then shooting them if they are too far to knife. The pistol and grenade are basically only used if your shotty runs out of ammo. Keep in mind this is a pretty nobody class, and may single you out as an inexperienced player, something your opponents may take advantage of.
