This review was written when OpenRCT2 (a community made mod) was in early development and functioned more like a patch for the original game, hence why I wrote this guide with the mod in focus as it didn't alter the game beyond a set of quality of life features such as higher resolution rendering and UI scaling. It has since been updated with new functionality and some game changing features and patches that will alter the way guests, economy and game progression works. If this is not something you want then this review will unfortunately not be of much help, sorry!
Setting up
step 1. Go to openrct2.org/downloads and download the OpenRCT2 Launcher

step 2. Once the download is completed, run and install the program, all you have to do is specify the install-directory of rct2. It's usually under
C:\Program (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 Tripple Thrill Pack Unless you've installed the game elsewhere

step 3. Use the launcher to play the game with all the extra features. If you want to play the vanilla game then open rct2.exe from your steam games folder. Same directory as above

From there on you should be able to play the game as you normaly would. Since OpenRCT2 uses the sourcecode from rct2 to run itself, all of your saved games, scenarios, saved rollercoasters and so on will function as normal. OpenRCT2 is a community made mod which also provides you with a range of cheats, quality of life features and new coaster types. More info about this can be found on their website!
1920x1080p / windowed mode
The game should run at 1920x1080p by default after OpenRCT2s installation. If not, just open up the options menu and change the resolution back to whichever resolution fits your screen. There you will also find options for vsync, rendering mode and other accessibility options like UI scaling.

using openrct2, will you keep your saved data or it gives you a new clean version of the game?

I don't think I need to say this but,

Title : How to set up RCT2 on 16:9, winowed and steamoverlay
Tutorial : How to install the open-source remake.

I know OpenRCT2 is better, but that's not what the title is about, isn't it? :sans:

BTW, there is a list of bugs on their github page, (a link provided).

If you have good technical ability to isolate, and gather details on your bug. you should report any bug you find on the GitHub page.

If not, you report it at the forum, and they'll take it from there.

As a note, a big plus is that OpenRTC works native on Linux and Mac as well!
It also works on Android, but requires quite a bit more setup.
