A little Walkthrough
Before you get your personal high-end equipment set (see the next section), I can definitly recommend the following sets to get started, they are designed to yield a decent amount of speed for an affordable price; after the level 52 set prices start to skyrocket (it's the premium gap). When you have the last set from the list, it's up to you if you like to buy coins or having an intense farm time (see the third section) ...

Recommended sets
  • Level 21 Set (260$ total) - Adventurer's Pith Helmet (helmet, 190$), Last Season's Shirt (armor, 70$), Dilapidated Cloth Boots (boots, start item)
  • Level 30 Set (690$ total) - Adventurer's Pith Helmet (helmet, 190$, reused from previous set), Ceremonial Ring of Cruelty (juwel, 200$), Cobraskin Boots (boots, 300$)
  • Level 52 Set (1,900$ total) - Fallen Demonhorn Spike (weapon, achievement reward*), Timeworn Key (juwel, 400$), Miraculous Bladewalk Boots (boots, 1,500$)

*Look out for an achievement which says "requires level XX" (where XX is either 5, 15, 20, 25, 30, 40, or finally 49) - each achievement of these will reward a weapon, with exception of the next-to-last one. Reopen the achievements page until you have got said item from the last achievement in the chain (the final one has the icon which I used for this section!).

Equipment Basics
Having speed bonus in your equipment is VERY POWERFUL and should be watched from the start of playing*. Speed and split distance stats are working hand in hand - both increase your split distance which is really helpful, especially when you're massive and slow. Some high level items have resilience, which was proposed by me as a defensive alternative to speed (thus very powerful too). You should find a set with balance of speed and resilience - these are your main attributes. Other (side)stats can be pretty good too, of course :)

*Tank builds, which are exclusive to high levels, drop the speed focus in favor of being tanky

Stat Priorities
Here is a rough overview how you can align your equipment set, depending on your playstile:
  • Glasscannon (offensive) - SP, SD, ED / ES - focus on speed+split distance combo with eat distance and/or eject speed to quickly hunt down foes and apply pressure even when you didn't even split yet. Warning: Very vulnerable to viruses and quick turn-around/feeding attack moves. Without at least a bit resilience way too risky to recommend.
  • Fighter (balanced) - SP, RC, SD / ES / RS / VR - focus on the best general stats for a solid build. Rule of thumb is a balance of speed and resilience, e.g. one item for resilience (RC shield, armor, helmet), one for speed (SP boots, weapon) and one for both (SP+RC jewel).
  • Tank (defensive) - RC, RS, VR - focus on resilience and rejoin speed+virus resistance combo to be hard to kill and to gather food by eating viruses. Warning: On small and normal scale too slow to escape chasing players. On large scale the time spent on growing pays off well.

Stat List
Here is an overview of the stats and their effects (ordered somewhat by offensiveness):
  • Eat Distance (ED) - Increases the cell eating range (food not included). Hint: Good for taking hole swarms of tiny cells down - it acts like a passive gravity potion.
  • Split Distance (SD) - Increases the cell movement acceleration (m/s² as opposed to m/s) when splitting - or being split. It applies pressure to your surrounding when you have superior size (mass) and split distance, and you will be able to "grab" cells by sliding towards your target while the movement is accelerated which makes it one of the best offensive attributes you can have, especially in the big scale.
  • Eject Speed (ES) - Increases mass feeding rate (by pressing 'W') and the projectile speed. Similar to speed, the actual feeding distance is improved and viruses are being shot farther due to faster projectile movement. Great for tricksplit and (offensive/defensive) mass management.
  • Speed (SP) - Increases cell movement speed - It makes it easier to eat cells, doge attacks and avoid getting trapped. Additionally, it boosts the actual split distance due to the increased movement speed right when splitting, and it improves passive mass income by collecting food particles.
  • Initial Size (IS) - Increases the cell mass on spawning. No benefits after spawn.
  • Mass Persistance (MP) - Lowers mass loss over time. The bigger a cell, the stronger is the degeneration. It also depends on the current mode you're in, e.g. CTF has a strong degeneration coefficient.
  • Rejoin Speed (RS) - Reduces the cell rejoin time(s).
  • Virus Resistance (VR) - Reduces the cell rejoin time(s) on virus split, improves virus split pattern (distributes more mass to the mother cell after a hit), and reduces mass loss from bloody viruses. Great to combine with rejoin speed.
  • Resilience (RC) - Increases the critical mass to be eaten by a cell. Hint: A deadly rejoin under the enemy, having less mass on each cell, is being eased.

Getting rich with Mitos.is Dollars
Good equipment, evolutions, and power items are expensive. You should watch the different ways how you can get coins:
  • Achievement rewards
There are plenty achievements which can be completed easily to gain a nice sum of money to start with, be sure to check them out regularily!
  • Collecting coins
The classic way to get them, you best pick them up in minigame gamemodes because the greater degeneration rate keeps you small and fast. Think about going to farm with speed/split distance equipment for a fast but risky income or unequipped for a slower, but stable income. Watch out for other farmers so you can work together :)
  • Collecting diamonds (or pumpkins/candy canes/easter eggs on events)
You need to collect 500 pieces of them before you can exchange to coins in the respective achievement, but the waiting for the money is worth it.
  • Daily Quests
Every day 6 randomly chosen quests pop up. A quest rewards a few coins, or rarely a chest. If a quest is time-consuming, too difficult, poorly rewarded or bugged, you can skip it (max. 1 skip/day).
  • Daily Chests
For each mode you can get one chest per day. A chests yields a power item and a few coins. In FFA and similar modes you will find them on the ground, whereas you need to win a match in other modes. Hunger Games will always reward you with a ruby or sapphire chest which contains higher tier items, but you need to score the first place :)
  • Mitos.is Lottery
Participate in tournaments mode a.k.a. mitos.is lottery - not recommended unless you are well-equipped and skilled
  • Buying coins
If you aren't into routine, visit the coin shop on 2x coins days... as a side note - you'll unlock High-Resolution / HD skins (128px squared) by the first time you purchase ...
  • Other
Check the Mitos.is: The Game facebook page[www.facebook.com] for giveaways, e.g. on holidays and watch out for time-limited achievements, which are quests being presented as achievements.
