I noticed that there is no such guide yet, so i thought to quickly write it down.
There are several tomes hidden in BG1. Each tome increases one stat by +1 permanently.

Strength:
Candlekeep Catacombs (chapter 6) Its in one of the sarcophages.

Constitution:
Its in the siren cave in the lighthouse map. To get there from Beregost, travel West, then south, then west. The cave is in the top left part of the map at the shore.

If you are playing a fighter type with 18 Constitution and want to profit the most from this, you actually can sneak into the cave with Imoen (make sure she can carry it, tomes are quite heavy) right after the start of the game so you get 19 Con before you level up the first time to get more HP.
Make sure she has the oil of speed with her to sprint out after getting the book. Also watch for traps. (She can detect and defuse them, even at lvl 1)

Dexterity:
In a barrel behind the merchant "Black Lily" in the thieves guild of Baldurs Gate (city). You can just loot it without raising an alarm. (chapter 5)
The thieves guild is in the east part of the city (the map where you first enter it)

Intelligence:
Located at the top of the tower of Ramazith, in the northern part of the city. (chapter 5)

Wisdom:
There are actually 3 tomes of wisdom available:

One appears in Baldurs Gate (city) during the quest where you are tasked to cure Marek from his curse. Your task is to bring the tome to the temple in the dock district in exchange for Mareks cure, but you can trick the priestess to give you the scroll before giving her the book and then simply keeping it without big consequences (you have to kill the priests though)

Two is located in the Candlekeep Catacombs just like the the tome of strength. (chapter 6)

Number three is in Durlags tower, in the 3rd floor of the upper levels. Watch for traps!

Charisma:
In one of the 3 caves in the southern part of the gnoll fortress map. From Nashkel mines travel west, travel west and travel west to get there.

As qashqai2 said, but do this to the extreme with each book. Start a new game, put ALL the books on one character. Export that one. Import 6 of that character into a new game. All books to 1... And so on ans so forth. The, does not matter if you roll a 76 starting stats, you'll have anywhere from 36 to infinity stat books to uplift your characters.

I find a tome that I want everyone in the party that may use it to have this . I place the tome in the inventory of a secondary character I created. Then I EXPORT them. Take the tome off them and delete the player. Import the guy from the character file. He now has a copy of the tome and another member does too. Move both copies to the same character. Export him again . Move both tomes to someone else. Delete this character and re import them again. You now have 4 copies. This works great for the ring worth 9000 under the pine tree outside the Friendly Arms. I've gone in/out with this several times. I export this guy as "Rings" and carefully import him when I need money. This does not use Cheat Codes so you can do this on Stream.

I picked the scroll of geas removal from the Water Queens High priest drinking potions of master thievery until pick pockets is 200... seems to always work at this level. if you need potions of master thievery, the fence in the thieves guild sells 10. There is not much to spend you money on at this stage of the game anyway, and not much to steal either, so may as well. This avoids bloodshed.

You can safely kill the water queens priest as soon as you pick up the quest with the dead kid, the priestess will drop the geas scroll and it's marke as a quest item (even though it's easier to just do both quests back to back for the huge XP rewards).

By the time you unlock the city, she's a complete pushover, the other priestesses only wield normal staffs and shouldn't be able to touch you at this point.

To pick the pocket of the Water Queens high priestess for the Remove Geas scroll. Pick up the halfing thief Alora from the museum heist has 100 pick pockets, Still take several trys at 100 but you can do it that way with no fight. Potion of power boost by 40 to 140 to pick pocket for an easy grab.

You don't actually have to kill the priests. Just run in with a fast character, bamboozle whats-her-face, then make a break for it.

Nobody follows you outside. No killing, no rep loss, all profit. Just be sure never to go back in there. Also do that one quest with the priest's son *before* the bamboozling.

Inside dulag's on EE I found a tome of Strength instead of wisdom in one of my gameplays. Maybe it was a remanant of a mod that previously I used or a change of that version of the game, I do not know but it wasn't repeated again

I am currently playing again and just yesterday took Minsc into my party. As soon as I had, the gnoll Stronghold became visible on the map, from as far off as Nashkel. I am guessing the Stronghold is visible (and of course, accessible) without Minsc/Edwin but only from a neighbouring map.

Getting the con tome early is rather valuable if you have an 18 con. You can buy a +1 con shield from the friendly arm inn to hit 20. Shield becomes a good swap item to hold while traveling between maps for healing or just waiting around.
