How to get analog steering with the x360 pad (sort of...)
By jack_the_beast
Hi, I saw lot of people struggling with controls configuration. I think I found a way to make the x360 pad working properly and also to use the analog steering of the game.

Pre-game configuration
in the pre-launch prompt assign the following entries of the controls as this:
Steer (steering wheel) = left stick left or right
Accelerate Pedal (Steering Wheel) = LT
Brake Pedal ( Steering Wheel) = RT

(yes for some reason you have to invert LT and RT, but they'll work normally in the game)

In-game configuration
now start the game and in the option menu set Steering Wheel support to ON, the sensitivity to 3/4th and the dead zone to 1/4th.

Known issue
now you should be able to steer in analogic fashion, although it will not be too good, I think the game was not designed to accept analogic input at all.

there's also a strange think going on: as soon as the race loading ends, press the brake (LT) on time or the game won't accept the accelleration input.
As reported by user VolvoBattousai, hitting the brakes once before race starts could trigger an auto-acceleration feature (I think that could be related to some controls configuration, other than the ones I reported above, different from mine) to avoid this, hit the brakes twice instead of once.

hope this help someone. If you have any suggestion how to improve this, just comment and I'll add them to the guide.

Doesn't want to work for me. :manthinking: Always recognize another axis number in the launcher. (Xbox One wireless controller)

tbh, it feels very different from the original aside from digital controls. Many suspects that this is a totally new version designed for mobile devices and (poorly) ported to pc

I haven't looked at this game in a while probably since 2014, however this game wasn't designed for analog inputs. It was originally designed for Win98SE with digital gamepads and steering wheels used only digital input signals at that time. This version is a patched version to run on newer systems with newer textures and a new UI(I think). This game was also released on the Playstation and was programmed before the release of the DualShock controller.
This is why steering wheels have major issues with this release, it doesn't register analog inputs properly and is in fact designed for digital inputs.
