Foreword
So Metal Mogul is probably the most technical achievement to get in Hand of Fate, as you need 300 Ore as the Iron Hunger fate to get it. It was the last one I got and required the most preparation and thought. Every other achivement I got by just basically grinding Endless mode.

The basic plan is to prepare your Equipment and Encounter decks and play against the Queen of Bones as Iron Hunger . The curse(?) that makes shops sell cheaper goods is one that you will use to supply the major bulk of your Ore. To avoid drowning in curses from Haunted, you will need an Encounter that removes curses. This is a common strategy from the Internet, but I added my own trick to it that I feel boosts it's efficiency.
Encounter Plan
Basically there are 5 essential Encounters to make this plan work:

Soul Gem - You can use the Soul Gem to remove one random curse, which allows you to get rid of Haunted.
The Lovers - When you demand payment for your assistance, you get the only two rings from the equipment deck.
Strange Ore - Gives you 75 Ore.
Ghost of the Sea - Either removes curses or gives 25 Ore. Alt-F4 from the game and start again if you get any other reward. (this resets the game from the start of your current turn)
Field of Poppies - This is a bit of a gamble, but if you can get Strange Ore and Field of Poppies on the same turn, you are halfway to victory.

The rest of the encounters you can fill up with your favourite combat encounters that reward equipment or gold. Avoid taking anything that give more curses to make using Soul Gem easier. But avoid putting any two-part encounters, such as Embertown Hero or Loan, as their card can replace Soul Gem.
Equipment Plan
While the standard Queen of Bones-tactic simply takes the items that give the most Ore when smelted, I added two key ingredients: Ring of Reward and Guild Ring. Ring of Reward gives you one equipment after every third combat, so if you get it early, you can completely fuel your exploration by smelting the equipment from the combats. The Guild Ring gives even more discount from the shops, allowing you to effectively convert your gold to Ore on nearly 1:1-basis, ensuring that if you can get rid of Haunted and amass 300 gold, you can basically guarantee getting the achievement.

So take the Ring of Reward, Guild Ring and these items:

Thunderstrike
Dragon Tongue
Mortal Whimsy
Blood Crescent
Skeleton King Sword
Battle Hammer
Kraken Claw
Huge Hammer
Desperate Measures
Scorching Zeal
Undead Bane

Clairvoyant Helm
Dragon Helm
Lion Prince Helm
Kraken's Wrath Mask
Fate's Folly
Helm of Reflection

Emperor's Jewel
Enormous Shield
Dragon Shield

Mithril
Forbidden Armour
Invisible Hand
Occult Reflection
Berserker Armour
Depth of Night
Dragon Armour
Wilderness Armour
Chains of Rage

War Cry
Chain Bomb
Lightning Crash (you can use it to bypass the Dark Dweller, by the way)
Consuming Shame
Mercenary Contract
Game Plan
Well, since the nature of Hand of Fate is random, a plan is hard to make. But the basic goals are:
  1. Get rid of Haunted. Midas Appetite will ruin the run if you buy stuff with Haunted on.
  2. Amass as much gold as possible.
  3. In the final level, find a shop, purchase and smelt everything, move away, return back and repeat. If you have about 300 gold, you should be able to buy enough equipment to make it to 300 Ore. Guild Ring will help with this.

Nothing else to say but good luck! Here are some tips to help you with your run:
  • Don't be afraid to use Alt-F4 when in distress or if you stumble on the Queen of Bones card without having explored every encounter. As long as you do not return to the table from the encounter, if you Alt-F4 out of the game, you return to the end of your previous card, allowing you to retry encounters.
  • After getting the Ring of Reward, take every chance to fight.
  • Use the Field of Poppies to your advantage. If you have lots of useful encounters on the table, Poppies can double their value.
  • Mercenary Contract is more useful to use rather than smelt. I personally recommend using it against rats, since you can get a lot of hits in and no-one blocks anything. If you are skillful, you can earn up to 120 gold from it.

Thanks to UpgradePolecat from trueachivements.com for the original suggestion of using Queen of Bones!
