『A Basic Bare-bones guide to modding Shadowverse Cards and Emblems』

Welcome to my first community guide - Note this guide is only meant to display how to mod the following content pieces in Shadowverse:

・ Cards
・ Emblems

Sleeves and Flairs may not be explained in this guide yet but I will update it in time and if any mistake appears on the guide I'll be fixing it right away. The changes are client-only therefore others will not see your changes unless they have the same files you edited. If you have any comments/suggestions or questions feel free to leave them in the comment section and I'm also taking requests for card mods.

『General Information』
Modding Shadowverse only requires two applications and the main client

・ Shadowverse / Main Client

・ UnityEX / Used to open and extract/import the resource/artwork files within the unity3d format/file shadowverse cards are in.

・ Any version of Gimp + Gimp Plugin / Gimp will be behaving as the equivalent of MS.Paint for all this but it's the optimal choice to open the artwork files you want to edit and save them in the correct format (DDS)

I fully recommend backing up the ''A'' folder located in main Shadowverse directory - Steam/Steamapps/Common/Shadowverse/Shadowverse_Data/StreamingAssets/A

Update 21/08/2017: Assets have been moved to Users\User\AppData\LocalLow\Cygames
Make sure you back up your ''A'' Folder before modding.

If you mess up files in the modding procedure, it won't do any lethal harm to your Shadowverse client asides endless loading screens. Having a back-up of the ''A'' folder is wise to easily solve this situation and keeping copies of the original files.

File Terminology tends to go like this:

For Card Files: card_1000110100
For Card Sleeves: card_sleeve_3000011
For Medium sized Emblems: em_100000101_m
For Small Sized Emblems: em_100000101_s
For Medium Flairs: degree_101001_m
For Small Flairs: degree_101001_s

Each Card/Sleeve/Emblem has a number of its own and there normally wouldn't be a way to tell which card is which just from its file name and you would require to extract cards one by one until you find the one you want but there is an easier way around that.
『UnityEX Instructions』
First I will provide you with a safe link to UnityEX. It is a safe dropbox link so don't worry

UnityEX Direct Download (Hosted on Dropbox)[u19304675.dl.dropboxusercontent.com]

Let's start with the UnityEX Window.

1: You can only open one file at a time so head to Open archive unity and head to the directory where the 3dunity files are stored: (C:\Users\User\AppData\LocalLow\Cygames\Shadowverse\a)

Let's say you want to edit the basic goblin card then look for: ''card_1000110100.unity3d'' and open it.

2: Once you have the file is open you'll notice a list of materials appeared on the list and contents vary depending on which card file you open.

3: Immediately after you opened a card file click on ''Export all files'' which will extract the textures. artwork resource etc. This will create a folder inside your ''A'' folder called ''Unity_Assets_Files''

4: Once you finish your edits to the card artwork itself. You click ''Import all Files'' and your mod should be in. If you messed up the file during editing or saving, shadowverse will be stuck in an endless loading screen so remember to have a back-up of the ''A'' Folder at all times to repair any damage by adding back in the original file.

If you intend to re-mod a card you already modded previously I also recommend slapping back in the original file first then remodding the card again.

Now to move onto the Gimp Instructions.
『Gimp Instructions』
You can google up Gimp and get just about any version as long as it's one capable of handling plugins. Fortunately Gimp is free software and you can obtain it here

GIMP Download[www.gimp.org]

Gimp will first require a plugin so that you are capable of opening and saving the card artwork files in the neccesary format (DDS Format)

You can obtain the GIMP Plugin from here GIMP Plugin Registry[registry.gimp.org]

After downloading that plugin extract its contents but do not run/execute what's inside and instead grab the files and place them in GIMP (or Gimp2) / lib / gimp / 2.0 / plug-ins the directory may vary depending on which version of gimp you got but it's important you find the plug-ins folder.

Once you are in gimp go to Archive/File and Open and look for the Goblin Artwork/Texture inside the Unity_Assets_Files folder. Any and All card file extractions that you do will end up inside that folder

When you've got the file open in Gimp. Make any and all edits you desire. I don't think I need to teach you how to use gimp as it is the equivalent of paint but an important detail is the size of shadowverse textures which is 1024x1024 and to keep in mind the border of each card (Bronze - Silver - Gold and Legendary has a large chunk of its original artwork cut out and the same can happen to your mod)

Another Important detail is when you finish your edits do not use the ''Save As'' button instead use ''Export As'' and make sure you select ''DDS Image/Format'' and save it in the card folder inside the Unity_Assets_Files folder once you've done that you can click ''Import All Files'' in UnityEX and your mod should be set In-game.

UnityEX must be open during this entire procedure
『Guide End + Extra Notes』
Thanks for reading all the way through

Here's some extra notes for anyone who decides to go further into modding the cards.

If you don't know or have a method to find out which card is ''X'' I suggest you visit Bagoum's Card Database[sv.bagoum.com]
and click on the card you're looking for to get details about that card and right click on the image to open it in a new tab and in the direct URL you should see the much needed info for the card file you're looking.

I haven't found a similar method to do the same for emblems and flairs but I'll provide a somewhat outdated resource folder I have that covers some emblems and flairs.

Update 28/6/17: Turns out Bagoum has a database for Emblems and Sleeves and I was blind enough to not see it before.

Bagoum's Emblem Database[sv.bagoum.com]

Bagoum's Sleeve Database[sv.bagoum.com]

That marks the end of this guide. and I'll edit any false information, mistakes or add new found information in this guide if neccesary and repair any links that stop functioning if that happens.

When do we get Cagliostro as a Legendary or Leader?

Thank you for the information!
As an artist, this brings me great interest. Weather this will work or not, I cannot tell. I have never modded Shadowverse before. I will most likely then do some more research into this. But this has been a good start, regardless if this method doesn't work.

You don't get banned for doing modifications on the client-side end of things. Replacing cards is fine I believe but replacing entire leaders or swapping out their animations or looks might be a bit questionable even though the modding community has already done it plenty of times already? It's just something I didn't prefer to do personally. This guide is also pretty old by now so I don't know if the same steps still work as they should but if it doesn't let me know.

Just discovered this in my feed, looks promising.
My only question is, will Shadowverse Staff ban us for modding artwork and animations?

What about the new Grandmaster sleeves? Can we mod those? I guess itd be tricky because a couple extra parameters are there for the animation.

Thank you for this guide, also is it possible to change the card names?

I've been using a patcher script for the last 5 months which changed the in-game voice lines from english to japanese, this was done without UnityEX. It's no longer necessary with the new update and I think I'll delete it, but something that rang a bell for me was "endless load times". I've been experiencing incread load times since 3 months back, and that was after I'd downloaded an updated version of the patcher. My question to you is how I can escape from these increased load times at this point. I do think I have a backup, but I'm not sure how to implement the files to make the whole shebang work. If there is a simpler solution, like re-verifying the cache or re-installing the game that would of course be preferable. I understand that you're probably not familliar with this particular patcher script, but do you think you could at least provide some helpful advice?
Thanks in advance
