Please could you add Leicester and Nottingham and Loughborough?

I am currently editing this map to make it so all (road) vehicles drive on the left...I had to delete all the roads and all the towns (because they all want to drive on the right otherwise - except on new roads - which gets interesting...). I am making some additions, towns etc and may detail it up a tiny bit but mainly I think i will give a bit of thought to the industries and placements. I am not sure whether i should go for the modded industries - or if anyone thinks that might be more appropriate?? I am also planning to keep tree numbers fairly low for the sake of my ailing laptop. A wonderful UK map on steam workshop to start this with though...with a good starting depiction of the UK - including the Isle of Wight - so thank you very much.

You're welcome @helicopter Pilot :)

I appreciate your hard work in making this map mate thankyou, if anybody is struggling to find the settings/folder to alter the parameters to allow experimental maps just go to options > advanced options and then there is an option to open your app data folder without searching. Hope this helps and thanks again.

LondonDerry sounds way cooler :)

How do you add towns?
Royal Coyote 10. apr. 2023 kl. 13:53
Derry by the way :)
briansyston 22. mar. 2022 kl. 12:00
Maybe they will give us proper full sized maps one day (greater than 24km).
A.Jackolin potato 8. juli 2021 kl. 4:00
My home town is in this map!
𝓕𝔁  [ophavsmand] 27. sep. 2020 kl. 11:26
North east of Leeds. Oh, you mean in this map... well, I couldn't include everywhere, the map isn't 1:1 scale, but you can easily add it :D
Iron_Ryan19 27. sep. 2020 kl. 11:23
One question... Where is York?
gibsonrohan28 18. juni 2020 kl. 12:53
Are we able to get sandbox?
𝓕𝔁  [ophavsmand] 26. maj 2020 kl. 9:55
I was going to :D but thought it may be a problem with the hud/menus :D
Midnighttigger 26. maj 2020 kl. 7:21
add Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch
𝓕𝔁  [ophavsmand] 1. apr. 2020 kl. 11:57
Honestly... I just picked some random places and didn't put too much thought into it, other than spacing on the map. I'm not highly educated on railway history.. just enjoy the game ;)
cerabus2001 1. apr. 2020 kl. 11:14
Great map. Will get a lot of play time on it.

A couple of things, was the reason you chose somewhere like Middlesborough rather than York a stalwart of the British rail system.

Also, Ayr is spelt wrong, with a added "e" on the map.
DorgoDorato 24. feb. 2020 kl. 7:33
Any suggestion pictures on expanding the industry? I download maps because I lack this creativity :)
Butt Slayer 11. jan. 2020 kl. 17:40
Ah, thanks.
𝓕𝔁  [ophavsmand] 11. jan. 2020 kl. 16:52
You will have to open the map in sandbox mode or the editor to add them, since the industries are not generated on loading, they are saved with the map.
Butt Slayer 11. jan. 2020 kl. 9:02
Hi, does anyone else have issues with Industry Expanded not showing any of the new industries on this map?
scorpio.1948 10. jan. 2020 kl. 10:29
Hi
Thanks again.
Do you know what sort of distance we are talking about with the ingame maps.
I am completely new to Transport fever.
I am use to 'Base boards' each representing so many square KM or miles (depending on your choice), if you want a 100 mile run you simply join several baseboards together, and map accordingly .
With TF you get the choice of small, large maps Etc, but it don't tell you what distance these represent.
Cheers

You got to remember, no matter how you look at it, you are downscaling, massively with a uk map, try one more appropriately sized to match the km of the ingame map. You won't get a 1:1 uk map
scorpio.1948 9. jan. 2020 kl. 12:28
I'm about to give up. Downloaded a height map of the UK. Cropped it to the old GWR run.
Put in the highest point (886M True World) and all I got was massive spikes all over the high points.
Either this program don't allow true mapping, I downloaded a bad map, or a lot of smoothing is the norm.
The games I have built maps for are all 1 to 1 scale (Trainz for example) perhaps I'm expecting too much, or I'm doing something completely wrong.
Anyway, thanks for all your help, appreciated

terrain.party is a world map?
In all honesty, I'm not too big into map making, I only made this because there wasn't one (same with TF1) but some better ones have/do start appearing ;)
scorpio.1948 9. jan. 2020 kl. 8:06
Hi FxUK
terrain.party was a no go. Seems to be all American. A point of interest though. I found a UK site that supplies a great looking height map of the UK. its:- maps-uk.com . Might be of interest to you.
Cheers

I can't remember where I got this one, same one I used in TpF1

This is popular depending on size requirements: https://terrain.party/

Sorry to be a pest, but I've asked this question in the main forum, no reply though.
Where do you download your UK height maps from ??? Site link if possible.
I would like to try an experiment using SRTM data but I need a fresh map to start with
Thanks

scorpio.1948 8. jan. 2020 kl. 3:01
Hi again
I accidentality deleted your map. :steamsad:
How do I download it again ????
Can't find a re-download link anywhere on this site
Cheers

Ah ok thats where im going wrong. cheers
𝓕𝔁  [ophavsmand] 6. jan. 2020 kl. 14:32
Are you going Free Game > Play Map ?
If so and its not showing, you may have to enable experimental map sizes (bottom of description)
ItsJustLiam 6. jan. 2020 kl. 14:29
Question, When i go to select a map, This one doesnt seem to pop up. Am i going wrong somewhere ?
scorpio.1948 27. dec. 2019 kl. 4:22
Thanks, somehow I have lost my email notifications about posts. Unless Steam has stopped sending them.
𝓕𝔁  [ophavsmand] 27. dec. 2019 kl. 3:57
I just use notepad ++ (any text editor can be used)
scorpio.1948 27. dec. 2019 kl. 1:00
Hi FXuk
I want to pick your brain again :steamhappy:
2 queries
I have just made a map which I'm calling 'GWR', it covers the old Great Western Railway, South Wales, Southern England, and the West country.
To get it more or less to scale (Passenger stations are roughly the correct distance apart) and towns don't run into each other, I used a 1-2 map, but to get it to look right I had to rotate the whole thing on its side. It looks good, but is there a North / South on these maps and if so what influence does it have on the game (If any)
I was hoping to use a huge map but I couldn't find anything above 'Very Large', reading your notes I noticed you edited the settings lua files. What do you use to edit them.
Cheers.
Sorry to be such a nag :steamfacepalm:

Another UK map: https://test-steamproxy.haloskins.io/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1943924326

Looks quite good at first glance ;)
scorpio.1948 23. dec. 2019 kl. 8:43
Thanks FxUK
I can understand the frustration, the editing tools in this program are quite basic,
Normally I use a program called 'TransDem ' which uses SRTM data from NASA.
The result is terrain accuracy to within 4 Metres. Unfortunately not all 'Games' allow you to use it.
Anyway, thanks for all your help to this new comer to TF 2 .
(71 years old and still learning :steamhappy:).
If I do upload the result I'll be sure to mention you
Thanks again

I believe the seed numbers just change a few parameters, i.e if you spawn random cities / industries, what demands they have. It also affects things like tree generation (which seems bugged with a heightmap) in that it uses a base 'generated terrain' to decide where to put them and not the heightmap.

Feel free to do whatever you wish with the map and re-publish if you wish, no problems there.
I only converted my tpf1 map over because I like playing a UK map :)

As for the edges etc, yeah the heightmap and way the water table generates in TPF2 forced me to set water level a bit lower than I would have liked, there's probably better heightmaps out there though, but I had previously spent some time (for tpf1) editing / smoothing and generally making it a bit better for gameplay than the original 'more detailed' heightmap. Being that its massively scaled down (and features over-emphasized) I felt it necessary.
scorpio.1948 23. dec. 2019 kl. 6:21
Hi FxUk
As I might of mentioned I am new to TF2 or TF1 for that matter.
One thing I enjoy is making terrains, topographical features, Etc.
If I could have your permission to use your map as a base I would love to make some more additions to it.
One thing I don't understand with TF2 are the seed numbers.
Can I enter that (Whatever that is) and load from your basic map. IE no height just the Outline.
If this isn't possible how do flatten the terrain, remove assets and add items.
I would like to use your map as a starter to creating my own, possibly leaving out Ireland and adding Western France. I have created terrains for other games, but with your help it would save me a lot of experimenting with TF2.
If necessary my email address is available through my Steam profile or a PM.
If you haven't the time then I completely understand.
Cheers

𝓕𝔁  [ophavsmand] 22. dec. 2019 kl. 11:35
Nope, I don't mind at all ;)
scorpio.1948 22. dec. 2019 kl. 10:53
Love your map, I hope you don't mind but I have made several changes. (Only for personal use).
I have dropped the whole level across the entire map so docks Etc don't have a chunk if cliff behind them. I have also revamped the M4 corridor, adding several more towns and Margam steel works (One of the biggest in Europe) .
Like I said this only for personal use
Anyway, a great map. Thanks :steamhappy:
𝓕𝔁  [ophavsmand] 20. dec. 2019 kl. 6:48
You can enable the sandbox mod when choosing to start the map ;)
Or alternatively, if you have already started, instead of continue, choose to load your game and add the sandbox mod.
funkyrudedude 20. dec. 2019 kl. 6:47
hi love the map how can i just get sandbox only to work or would you able to make it plz
GoldMountain 19. dec. 2019 kl. 11:15
Looks amazing, though I noticed that all the shorelines have basically no shallows at and and it just drops like a cliff into the depths all around the map.
Slaintemaith 19. dec. 2019 kl. 5:27
Would it be possible to release this also as two maps for the separate islands?
