Hollowbody is a pretty good Silent Hill like cyberpunk, horror game and it's created by Hardware games the same people that made chasing static; now let's get into the story. In the mid 21st century a catastrophic incident unfolded along the western coast of the British Isles a strange disease swept through communities, making people sick and driving them insane, people feared it was some mass scale bioterrorist attack.

Soon measures were taken place to save people or so they thought, but only those that were deemed worthy to be saved were allowed to evacuated to the city of Aeon, a man-made landmass in the Atlantic while the rest of the poor people were trapped inside the City, soon giant walls were erected to keep the contagion locked away before destroying the land with orbital strikes. Soon the incident was forgotten, but there were still some who demanded answers, who demanded Justice for the atrocities committed. So a small team went over to investigate unfortunately a young woman named Sasha disappeared doing one of these trips and her girlfriend Mia manages to get access to the dead city she vows she will not leave until she finds what happened to her beloved and bring her home, but going to the dad city may not be as dead as she thinks.

Now the likes, the story is very good it's a semi-sequel to Hardware’s previous game chasing static, but you don't really need to play that game to understand the story in this game, it just makes references to that game in its story. Anyway it was quite good it has nice mix of Silent Hill cyberpunk themes as your wandering the town trying to get to your girlfriend, there's also a lot of visual storytelling from the apartment complex to seeing all the dead bodies, it does a lot of show don't tell, there's also a good bits of notes and these optional cutscenes called echoes that help with the story and its world, it also does a good job in connecting this game and the other game chasing static, but even if you don't read all the notes thanks to the visual storytelling you can pick up the gist of it.

The characters are good, there is technically only one real character depending on if you save this wounded man or not anyway the main character is Mica and she was quite a good protagonist, she's tough and can kick ass but she’s not invincible she's very much human as she's vulnerable, she knows that she's in a world of ♥♥♥♥ right now and she's just making the best of it while trying to get her girlfriend, you really come to root for her throughout her journey.

The gameplay is good takes inspiration from Silent Hill with a combination of combat and puzzle solving, the combat is like Silent Hill as its mostly melee, but it does have guns but you're going to have to search around for ammunition and know when to use it and when to use melee, you also have to study enemy attack patterns and know when the best time it is to strike either with melee or with projectile weapons. You also have to solve different puzzles or get a key item in order to advance a lot like Silent Hill. I also enjoyed that you can tweak the game to make it feel like an old school game like with fixed camera angles and tank controls.

The weapons were good it's based off of Silent Hill so it's mostly melee weapons and the three melee weapons you can get has their own weight and feel to it and you have to decide which one to use, a quicker but weaker one or a stronger but slower one , there's also a fourth melee weapon that's a nice reference to Silent Hills Pyramid Head, but you get only get it from betting the game on it's hardest difficulty.

The guns were good, I especially like the flamethrower as it's an infinite type weapon and made getting passed the last segment of the game really easy.The puzzles are good, hard but fair with which requires a good bit of brain work in order to figure it out, they also have a sort of Silent Hill feel to it some being quite strange and sometimes disturbing.

The graphics are very good it has that nice classic old school ps2 look to it that really makes it feel like it was made ib that era with its dreary colors and design.The levels are good, the city is a bit diverse and quite memorable with its ruined dilapidated look, it also feels a little bit like blade runner having old technology mixed with new technology and it has plenty of good environmental storytelling that tells you this was once a bustling neighborhood, but due to corporate shenanigans and a plague it's now this abandoned ghost town.

The enemies in the game are good definitely creepy with the way they look, sound and move, they also have a good sort of uncanny valley to them like you can tell they were once normal people or animals, but whatever they had, had been stripped away long ago and they're now this shambling thing.

The music was very good; it feels like a combination of Silent Hill and a bit of cyberpunk. The voice acting is really good not one character felt wooden, even for little side characters they really brought their A game, I especially love the voice acting for the creepy robot calls definitely feels otherworldly, but also mechanical sort of like Showdown from System Shock.

The notes and echoes are good both doing a good job in basically expanding the story and the town and really paints a picture of a bustling community being taken over by corporate monsters and just everything basically getting ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up.

The atmosphere is good nice and spooky for first time players making you jump from every little sound. Now is this game scary? Yes for first time players it can be quite scary, hell even if you play it for a second or third time there's still somethings that will make you jump.

Now the dislikes, okay there are some bugs in the game nothing really game breaking, but it could be a bit frustrating sometimes. Also after beating the game you can unlock some things for it, big head mode which makes everyone's head big and first person mode, I wouldn't recommend playing the game in first person as you can't really control where the character looks with the mouse like you could in chasing static.

I also didn't really like the final boss I mean it had an interesting design, but it was just a chaser enemy, and in order to beat it you have to run past the bombs and detonate them with a detonator you were able to pick up. But I did not like that; I don't know I feel like that boss was just a bit of a disappointment.

Also the mutated dog enemies were a pain because they can run at you, bite you and just run away and they're really hard to hit with a melee weapon, so you have to save up ammunition in order to hit them.

Okay now that I've told you this Hollowbody is a pretty good Silent Hill like cyberpunk, horror game and it's created by Hardware games the same people that made chasing static; with a very good story, good gameplay and very good graphics, I definitely recommend this game especially if you're looking for a game that feels like a Silent Hill or retro game.

Perfect? No. Still really good? Yes. PS2-era survivor horror throwback that i had a lot of fun with.

great game, hate the dogs tho they're worse than the bosses
